The bookstore is huge, spreads over two full floor space. First floor has most of the apparels alongside books. Lower floor has all the stationary items, souvenirs, and more books. Prices are understandably high. They customize a lot of the items in the "Custom Zone". Quality of the products item to item. Checkout process is fast and easy. They have a package pick up zone for Yale students, so students can deliver their orders to the bookstore and pick them up at their convenience.

This is part of the Shops at Yale, and across from a large gated pay parking area. It's a Barnes and Noble, so there is a good selection of "regular" books you would find in another book store. There are also text books, and lots of Yale paraphernalia. Do you need a Yale potholder? This bookstore is the place for you. They also have lots of plush bulldogs, which are ADORABLE. In the front of the store they're literally lining the walls. The employees weren't aggressive and let people browse, although they were present across the store if help was needed. The best value was the postcard rack, which had great photos of the area and the Yale bulldog. They were a great price and I've sent them out all over the world now.

Love Yale book store. Just walking around in side the book store feels good. It's Barnes and Noble location in New haven. Apple store in the next, and many other stores in downtown New haven.

I walked in and I was immediately greeted by a dog. I told the owner, who was holding a book club…read moremeeting, that I was happy about that because I had seen a picture of the dog while researching the store and I figured that the dog wouldn't be there anymore because it was a three year old picture. They all laughed. After that, I took a cursory look at the fiction section. Then I wanted to look at the nonfiction section, which was next to the book club. I observed them for a minute out of curiosity. The novel they were discussing seemed interesting. I then spent a good five or ten minutes skimming through a book I found interesting and looking up information about it online when the owner walked up to me and asked me to go to the other side of the store because she thought I was eavesdropping and worried it might make the others uncomfortable. I apologized and sat down in a chair for about half an hour while I waited for the meeting to end so that I could browse that section again, but I eventually had to leave because I ran out of time and needed to be elsewhere. The book selection looked good from a distance. Wish I could have checked it out. At least I got to pet a dog, though.

Possible Futures is a bright, colorful, quirky bookstore in a little corner of edgewood. I came…read morehere for an album-release event hosted by my friends which Lauren, the owner, graciously supported. Walking around the store, I perused through all of the carefully curated book selection from culturally-savvy children's books to invigorating reads on advocacy and change-making. The store's environment is one of warmth which invites you in for a friendly cup of tea or one of their many events like a mahjong night I'm looking forward to attending. Once you make it, you'll want to stay and have a convo with the many regulars who swear by the magic of this store . Everything about this place embodies acceptance and welcome. Possible Futures is my new favorite bookstore in New Haven and I cannot recommend a place more. Bonus: Lookout for Sugar, the bookstore puppers!

I found this bookstore last year on a recommendation from a co-worker and have visited several…read moretimes to pick up books. What I love about them is that they are creating a beautiful new place for the community to gather where all are welcome and you can books that might not be as easily found elsewhere, such as books by authors of color, Indigenous authors, LGBTQ+ authors, bi/multilingual authors, local authors, and poets of all kinds. They have also been offering events with authors both virtually and limited in-person. Lauren and the rest of the staff are super friendly and helpful if you are looking for personal book recommendations. Right now due to COVID, they are not open for browsing but you can place an order online and they will follow up with you via email when your books are ready for pick up. Their instagram @peoplegetreadybooks provides the best recommendations for timely reads from new releases and in response to world events. I highly recommend checking them out and they ship nationwide.
