I took one class here, the Vinyassa class, when I was on vacation recently. This studio has one very small room (apparently they just opened another studio called "The Annex" which is bigger) which I can imagine is terriblely crowded with a full class (we only had about 8 people). I really liked most of the flow, the instructor was challenging and there was one pose thrown in I had never done before. The big downside was that I didn't get the accepting feel I usually get from yoga classes, ones that encouage you to "listen to your body" and "take child's pose whenever you need it." This environment felt very competitive and more like a yoga boot camp than a yoga class. I got the impression that the instructor was more concerned about toning than relaxation. If I went back to Nantucket, I would continue to do classes by myself on the beach rather than coming here. read more

We had a very good Vinyasa class with the owner Paul. He is a very knowledgable instructor. The major downside is that there were 18 people stuffed into a small room. It was way too crowded. They really should limit class size. read more

I always visit the Yoga Room whenever I am on island. The instructors are well trained and professional. I also love the serene location. Only comment is that I wish the studio was larger as it can become crowded. Sign up and arrive early during busy times. read more

This studio is a bit small but it is well equipped and in a nice open room. I took a yin class that was one of the least challenging yin routines I'd been through. I believe it was catered to an older demographic and was not looking to push anyone to their edge. That's fine by me, however the class cost $20 and I left feeling like I didn't get my yoga fix for the day. read more

The Yoga Room is Nantucket's original studio where you where get the most authentic experience with the teachers who have lived, practiced and shared with their students for many years. Its a low key, non competitive environment with classes geared towards various levels and types of yoga. The setting is beautiful and intimate. The 8 am classes in the summer are the busiest, so think about going for an evening class after a day on the beach for an incredible night's sleep, or before or after an early morning bike ride to stretch things out, or even a mid day sneak away... the thing about The Yoga Room is that you are always glad you went, no matter the class, no matter the teacher. This yoga studio offers a variety of classes from beginner to more advanced practice, a diverse and interesting group of teachers who exhibit a caring and compassionate attitude as well as an absolute love for the spirit and practice of yoga, and a flow of workshops that enrich the learning environment. I recently started going to the The Yoga Room and have enjoyed every visit. All of the instructors seem very knowledgeable and well trained. I particularly enjoyed Shannah Greens classes she is the owner. The studio is simple and clean. The location is set in a a beautifully landscaped setting. I have been practicing for almost nine years and like to try new studios whenever possible. Ten years and going! I started my yoga education in this little studio 30 miles out to sea. There is a wide range of class styles and teachers. The workshops and visiting teachers are excellent. Restorative, yin , and vinyasa are all available. Worth the trip read more
