This is a 4th generation family business located in the heart of town on Broad Street. I biked the entire island and loved my bike's ruggedness. Quick and easy to walk up on a busy Saturdays and get a bike with a basket. Next time, I'd try to find an electric bike so I could enjoy a summer day in Nantucket without looking like a sweaty mess. We rode to Madaket, saw the snapping turtles along the way, dipped our toes in the Atlantic, had a yummy drink and snack at Millie's, and rode back. There is a bike path most of the way. The first 10 minutes or so your riding on the narrow street with a bunch of cars. We went down some quieter streets with pretty houses until the path started. read more

Little pricy for a rental but... it's Nantucket. Bikes are in decent shape and served their purpose for the long distance ride around the island. The staff were fine and didn't go above and beyond but they didn't give the cold shoulder either. They did however, give us some wicked locations to check out which, thank god, we did. Only downside I really see is the lack of tandem bikes but overall, great little garage with bikes that are 'functional'. read more

Easy and quick to rent from them. The rates are the similar for most of the bike shops there. We rented bikes for the day for 33$. Bikes were pretty comfy to ride, and it came with a helmet and a lock. Overall good experience. They close at 5pm. read more

I've rented, purchased, and had repairs there (this week I needed all the things!) and also needed help with basic things like, 'how the heck does this lock work? For $25 a day, you get a decent bike, a basket, and a helmet. Plus roadside assistance (which was important, as I needed to call them). The staff is incredibly helpful and friendly...they really want to make sure everything is set up properly, that your helmet is on tight, and that the seat is positioned appropriately. When my bike chain got stuck about 5 blocks from the store, the roadside assistance was super fast and really easy. A new bike was brought out immediately. Biking on Nantucket is lots of fun, though there are some unexpected hills. Don't bike on the cobblestones...walk your bike on the sidewalks through town. And follow one of the many bike paths, if possible, for a nice scenic ride around the island. Please note: none of the bikes have foot brakes...all the bikes only have hand brakes. It was a challenge for me, as every bike I've ever been has had foot brakes. read more

We came to find out the shuttle for Cisco isn't running this summer so we had to opt for the second best option: bikes. Young's had the best reviews so we were convinced it would be the best option for us. The workers were very helpful and got us bikes very quickly. We just did the 4 hour rent for $28 which isn't bad (an Uber would be way more expensive). We brought our bikes back with ease and there were no problems! Excellent customer service even though we weren't their customer! We brought our e-bikes with us to the island for the day. We were riding the Polpis bike trail when my tire blew. We walked the rest of the way to Sconset but found ourselves stranded without a way back to downtown and our ferry. We called 3 taxis companies and 2 other bike shops to no avail. The young man who answered the phone at Young's was courteous and offered a solution- they would pick up our bikes and drive them back to town. The were also kind enough to add us to their repair cue and fix my tire before I had to catch my ferry. Their willingness to help us made all the difference in our trip! Me? On a bike? With my coordination... or lack there of... I had a great time renting a bike from Young's. I found the bike to be in great shape, the staff friendly, and the map to be very helpful. This was a great way to explore Nantucket. The process was quick and painless. They did get a laugh when my husband requested the total price of the bike before we left... just in case mine had an unforntunate accident. I found the prices to be good - full price for a damaged bike, and just the rental in general. Just for the record I did return it in one piece. Do not be fooled by their pesty competitors right near them - they were more annoying than those stands in the middle of the mall. Young's is a perfectly run business. I called around 9am and requested bikes for my bf and I for the day. We arrived at 10:30am and were given bikes, helmets, locks, and excellent directions to the bike paths on the island. We opted for the Madaket route out to the beach, and had a great lunch at Millie's. We then road from Madaket to Cisco Breweries for some live music. It was a perfect day. Returning the bikes was flawless, we walked in, the bikes were scanned, they gave us a receipt...and then we were off to happy hour! Would definitely come back for bikes at Young's! Also good to know: They will deliver bikes to you, they offered to bring the bikes to the boat where i was staying in Boat Basin. They allow you to return bikes after the shop closes by locking the bikes and placing the keys in the drop box. read more

I can't say how this bicycle shop compares to the others on the island because I've been so pleased with them since my first trip that I would never go anywhere else. It's a family run business with a lot of great history, a true Nantucket gem. The prices are really reasonable and include a helmet and map. Before setting off, they adjust your seat and helmet so that it fits properly and go over rules of the road for those who aren't familiar. Their bicycle map (and I have seen more than just Young's) is definitely the best on the island. Easy to follow with all the trails and biking hazards clearly marked out. They also have a bunch of historical sites for you to make your own biking tour of downtown. If you ever have any problem on the trail you can call their service number and someone will come to provide roadside assistance. I know they recently updated their fleet, so most of the bicycles are really new. The womens' bikes come with baskets which are handy for storing purses and a lunch sack. read more
