A friend of mine suffering from Alzheimer's resided here. They tended to his particular needs, and…read moremade sure he was safe. They tried to make his life as neighborly as possible. The manager at the time was a very friendly, helpful man whom I don't think is there anymore. The initial review does bring up legitimate concerns about housekeepers&dietary aides doing work outside their sphere of training. While I did witness that a few times, most of the time, they simply made sure my friend was clothed, fed, and had a clean environment. He was able to live as independently as he could, until his Alzheimer's was so debilitating he was moved to another facility in Arizona. Aegis is clean&appealing. They have a friendly, personable, attentive staff. While it has its shortcomings (all facilities do), the positives outweigh the negatives. The parking lot is kind of small, but one can park on side streets. Very pleasant.

I'm not really sure how to write a coherent review of Aegis to properly explain the excellent care…read morethat my In-laws received in the past year as residents, so I am just going to try & explain the timeline of the last month. In mid-January, my Mother-In-Law notices that my Father-In-Law is looking kind of run down. Although she wants him to go to the doctor for a check up, he stubbornly refuses. He finally agrees to make an appointment when Paul Oseso, the Aegis General manager, offers to personally drive him & my Mother-In-Law to the doctor's office. The GP takes one look at my Father-In-Law and tells him that he needs to go to the Emergency Room. Paul puts my Father-In-Law into a wheelchair and pushes him across the hospital parking lot to the ER. While waiting for treatment in the ER, my Father-In-Law has a heart attack. Paul waits for hours in the ER with my Mother-In-Law, while my Father-In-Law goes through surgery. The surgery is unsuccessful. The doctors tell our family that my Father-In-Law needs hospice care. The recommended hospice facility would separate my Father-In-Law from my healthy Mother-In-Law. This is a terrible solution to everyone. Luckily, Paul & the staff at Aegis are able to rearrange my in-law's apartment so he can receive hospice care in his own home with his wife at his side. My In-laws return to their Aegis apartment to discover a gorgeous flower arrangement & a card signed by the entire Aegis staff is waiting for them. Did I mention that I married into a gigantic Catholic family? At this point in this story, double digit numbers of family descend upon Aegis to spend time with my Father-In-Law during his final days. The Aegis staff not only check on my in-laws, but they also check in on the entire extended family. Constantly. They surprise us a wine & cheese plate when we can't make it out for dinner. They brew extra pots of coffee because they know none of us are sleeping well. They invite us to their Super Bowl party. THEY COME IN ON THEIR BREAKS & DAYS OFF just to visit. My Father-In-Law passed away on Saturday evening. My Mother-In-Law asked that we call Paul to tell him. The call interrupted Paul's dinner, at his home, on his day off. Paul immediately came over to sit with us while we waited for the hospice nurse to pronounce my Father-In-Law & for the funeral home to pick up his body. Paul Oseso has a background in hotel management & it shows up not just in how he presents himself, but how the entire staff behaves. They are, to a person, incredibly pleasant in that way that employees at 4 star hotels only display a sunny demeanor even when faced with the crabbiest guest. Up until the last month, I just chalked this behavior up to good training & professionalism. But, so much of the care my family received cannot be chalked up to people just doing their job. My Father-In-Law's last days were the best they could have been because the staff at Aegis went beyond the call of duty in so many ways, big & small. Right now, as I write this, the Aegis staff is helping my Mother-In-Law adjust to single life after over 60 years of marriage. This has been the worst month of her life. So, I am very grateful that she is surrounded by people who treat her not as an important client, or needy patient, but as a friend.

My mother was not clean probably so I put her in the shower myself and cleaned her backside which was literally caked on. I felt very uncomfortable in that place no good vibes SO MY SISTERS AND I GOT HER OUT OF THERE. We went to Mother Love in Santa Rosa which is a real home, in the neighborhood, and Mother Love and her daughter fell in love with my MOM, When I first met them I said okay sisters this is the place, The vibes were so good in there, Suddenly my mother was herself again, Shining with the Holy Spirit, she hated Sunrise she felt scared there. If God isn't there then what was , She lit up when she stary with Mother love, Always protect your loved ones from darkness and soulless people when they are at that age. She died in Peace with Gods light. Cost of Sunrise with a caviler attitude rip off dont leave your loved ones there. Eight thousand dollars a month, Theres a place in hell for this place.

Disgusting! Sunrise Villa is NOTHING like that though! This is a fancy pants place! When you walk in you are blanketed by the amazing smells of the delicious food from the kitchen, and the dining room has chandeliers, cloth napkins, crystal glasses, and table service with huge menus for every meal! It's literally like a fancy restaurant for every meal for the residents! That cannot be beat! The entire place is immaculate, with no dirt or bad smells anywhere that we can detect, and that's a huge plus. Just the idea of assisted living usually conjures up negative things but Sunrise Villa creates a whole different experience, a wonderful one. My folks have only been there for one month, having come from a beautiful hilltop home on sonoma Mountain, and they are both already saying they are happy there. There are tons of amazing activities scheduled all day long, and their amazing two bedroom apartment gives them a living room, a bedroom, and an extra bedroom for my father's computer and office. On top of all that, Grace, who helped us through every step, is the most kind, loving, understanding, and patient person to help your family through this difficult time. She is amazing! Thank you Grace! Sunrise Villa is not cheap however, and you'll need plenty of money in order to stay there, but it's definitely worth it, and they have created an assisted living facility that takes the sting out of the painful family process that leads to the need for it. I recommend it highly, if you can afford it.

Extremely Concerning Safety Failure!…read more A little over a year ago, my family placed my father in this memory care facility in Fairfield after being assured during the tour that all exits were alarmed and that appropriate safety measures were in place to prevent residents from leaving unsupervised. On the third day of his residency, my father was able to exit the building. A staff member had disarmed an alarm without checking to see if a resident had gone through the door. Over an hour passed before our family was notified that he was missing. Thankfully, a kind stranger found my father several miles away and contacted the police. I personally overheard law enforcement tell the facility's director that cameras should be installed to address blind spots near exit doors. We removed my father from this facility immediately. I am sharing this experience to urge extreme caution for families considering this location. Please ask very specific questions about alarm systems, staff procedures, supervision, and safeguards for residents who are at risk of wandering. Safety should never be this fragile.

I've been putting off writing a review for the Village at Rancho Solano, hoping things would get…read morebetter. Mom has been there for over a year. The good part...there are activities and little outings in the company van. There are some good and caring care partners there. The landscaping is nice and the facility appears clean. They bring in entertainment about 3 times a month. The bad part...the food. The food sometimes is completely unrecognizable. In addition, residents are often kept waiting for over an hour for their unappetizing food. I saw some soup tonight like what they would serve in concentration camps. Watery with green slimy stuff floating in it. On the days they invite family, like Thanksgiving and Christmas..the food is wonderful, so I know they CAN prepare good food, they just don't the majority of the time. Another bad part: There are two parts to the fees. There is the rent and there is the level of care cost. The facility uses a point system to evaluate the level of care resident's need. In assisted living the level of care ranges from $150 to $4850. In Memory care the care level ranges from $300 to $3900. This fee is IN ADDITION to the rent. There are certain safeguards from excessive rent increases, however there aren't any safeguards from the facility reassessing the resident and saying that a higher level of care is needed. They can reassess anytime they want. Currently I pay $7035 for rent and $1500 for care. So total cost is $8525 per month and can go up anytime they "see a change" in my mom and decide to reassess her. My opinion is that they do reassessing to fundraise. Even if the cost of care goes up, the care that goes along with the cost doesn't increase. So, my advice to folks is that you need to be aware that this company "fund raises" by upping levels of care and I am just one story. There are many more who have to fight continually with this greedy company to keep from going completely broke in their old age. Remember, this is NOT a medical facility. They may be able to administer medicine, monitor blood sugar, but don't think that they are a medical facility. Most of the staff there are minimally trained. Also, know there are NO staffing requirements. The State requires that there is enough staff there to meet the needs of the residents. I have been there numerous time when there clearly is NOT enough staff to meet the needs of the residents. So if you are considering placing someone you love in this facility, don't believe the sales pitch..."We will take care of mom and you can go back to just being her daughter." No...you need to be a watchdog! You have to be vigilant and make sure that the facility is doing what they said they'd do. Go in unannounced at various days or times. Sit and observe. Talk to the residents. Go at meal time and take a look at the food. Go to the the California Department of Social Services and read the complaints. It is a major deal to move someone into a facility and the facility knows how difficult it is to simply up and move to another place. So go in with your eyes wide open.
