Tomato pie, down east rolls, tuna tartare

From start to finish, this was an unforgettable dining experience. It's the perfect balance between true fine dining and an atmosphere that feels entirely comfortable and welcoming. The service was impeccable across the board, with thoughtful attention to every single detail. A special shoutout to Lori, the manager, whose warm presence set the tone for the entire night, making sure we were exceptionally well taken care of. At the bar, Rachel was fantastic, we loved all of Theodosia's unique cocktails, all with their own backstories tied to the Outer Banks, and she even made special mocktails for our daughters. The menu is packed with fantastic dishes, we loved it all! The tomato pie is perfection, loved the down east rolls, and you have to get the lemon pie for dessert! We cannot wait to come back. Highly recommend!

Our dining experience was nothing short of fabulous. We dined at the Chefs table overlooking the kitchen. Chef Charlotte, RJ and the rest of the culinary team were engaging, professional and the food execution was on point. 10 put of 10. If I lived in the Outer Banks, I'd be back each week. All of the food created for us from the Filet to the catch of the day was impressive. Seasoned and cooked perfectly. And if anything, you need to try the desserts. There is something to enjoy for every pallet. Take the time to savor the meal and experience. We'll be back next season for sure.

Excellent service from start to finish. Exceptional menu explained expertly by Dante. Each of the apps, salads and main courses did not disappoint. Oysters were awesome and the variety option was cool. Salad was perfect. Never had or heard of fish toast but it made the filet flavorful. The steak was awesome and prepared perfectly. Overall a memorable evening on the bay.

Possibly the best dinner we've ever had. Food was top notch. Everything we ordered was so interesting and different. Service was amazing. Sat at the kitchen counter bar. What a fun experience. 5 stars and then some!

    Tomato pie

My husband and I celebrated our anniversary with a tasty dinner at Theodosia while on a family vacation. All I can say is get the tomato pie! You will not regret it--one of the best things I've ever eaten in my 40 years on this earth. So delicious! For the main course, my husband got the duck and I got the catch of the day. We were both happy with our meals and topped things off with figgy pudding for dessert, which was also yummy! We will be back!

Went for dinner on a Monday night at 7pm. The restaurant is beautiful and we were seated along the window. The service was good and the food was wonderful. Our favorite item was absolutely the tuna tartare. My only complaints are the cocktails were a bit disappointing and the restaurant was a bit too loud. Although I was happy we tried Theodosia, we will go elsewhere in the future.

We had a great experience at Theodosia on a Tuesday night. We were able to get a reservation a week before with ease. The decor within the restaurant was very unique but it was well put together. All of our dishes in the attached pictures were great. I particularly loved the creamed cabbage and peas that came with the duck. The lemon pie was to die for and wasn't overly heavy after a lot of food. The waitstaff was very accommodating and more than willing to explain the menu. We even enjoyed a sunset at the end of our meal. This is definitely a nice reprieve from the standard fried beach food on the OBX and I feel that it's priced appropriately.

Matt greeted us warmly and we were seated exactly on time. The room and chairs are very comfortable. The decor is attractive with Tiki bar overtones. It was full and busy but did not feel crowded. We had the catch of the day, pork belly, yellowfin, oysters appetizers. All were excellent. Appetizers came out fast, main course not as fast but we were not in a hurry...it was sunset. Dessert was lemon pie crust which was not crisp lemony tart it was flat, frozen? The fruit tart, same. But as a law just don't whine about desserts. The menu and staff had THE BEAR vibes. Go again ? ABSOLUTELY. One note about all fine dining restaurants...stop with the locally sourced nonsense. i don't care where the cow lives!

We had dinner at Theodosia last week and it was one of the highlights of our annual trip to Duck, NC! Luda was our server and she did an excellent job in making our dinner a memorable experience - very attentive and a joy to converse with! I ordered the Mother Vine spritz drink which was delish and a work of art and our starters were the ceviche, down east cheddar cheese light rolls, and the tomato pie which I even got my husband to try and he loved it too! The food was incredible - we took home an extra order of another tomato pie and the rolls for the rest of the family to try because we needed to share the taste. I then ordered a glass of Sangiovese which I proceeded to enjoy. Our entrees were the shrimp and grit soufflé and the NY strip - interesting presentations and steak was cooked perfectly. I do love shrimp and grits and this dish was for sure a different take on the usual with a mushroom flavor. We ended sharing the 3 cracker lemon pie which was gorgeous to look at - I didn't want to cut into it but well...one must! We walked out with an extra slice - for the family of course LOL We'll be back next year - it was a special nite and thanks Luda! I uploaded pics and appears the order may be mixed up but I'm sticking with it! You must go!

Everything was absolutely amazing and then some. The food was fresh and light and exactly what you expect from Vivian Howard who is true to her roots and using fresh, local ingredients. The restaurant itself is stunning and the view of the sound was breathtaking. The service was fast but not intrusive throughout the evening.

    10 layer chocolate cake

Anyone who rates this place less than 5 stars is crazy. First, the restaurant is gorgeous. It's beautifully decorated and the layout is not too cramped, but not too spaced out. Beautiful views from wherever you sit. Our server Jaden was OUTSTANDING!! That girl is a truly talented server! She knew everything about the menu, the ingredients, and every question could be answered with an encyclopedia-like response. She deserves a raise. The food was just... fabulous. We loved everything from the craft cocktails, to the oysters, our entrees (GET THE PORCHETTA) and the 10 layer chocolate cake! Truly all to die for. Can't say enough wonderful things about this place. So sad it's our last night in Duck or we would come back in a few days!

    Some lagniappe from the kitchen

We stayed at the wonderful Sanderling resort & were lucky to get reservations the last week that Theodosia's was open this year... And, even luckier, we sat at the chef's table for our meal! We started off with the tuna tartar app, served with home made potato chips and a grilled romaine salad. The kitchen gifted us with a nice treat, two DOWN EAST LIGHT ROLLS with Ashe Co. cheddar cheese curds, apple preserves- My wife got the shrimp & grits souffle & I got the fish toast - this food, as good as anything I've ever eaten, with wonderful service & the bonus of sitting at the Chef's Table

The menu definitely lets you know that the chef is thoughtful about each component to every dish…read more There are sweet elements tied to savory elements and enough heat or acidity to address the different proteins. I really enjoyed each of the dish and all the beers that are on a tap is the highlight of the restaurant. There are two long tables in the middle for larger groups. The seats are surrounded by TVs and a great spot for the family. The second shift breakfast burger is delicious! The Pork belly BLT is also more refined and will please finer palates. The crispy apple jack chicken has all the ingredients for a delicious sandwich. But I would replace the 3 chicken tenders for a large chunk of chicken breast. That would make the sandwich perfect. If you're looking for a great restaurant for the family during your vacation... take a ride and check it out!

I don't necessarily blame the restaurant for that since people are constantly coming and going through both the front door and patio, but it did affect the experience. We didn't try the beer wall this time. We came primarily for the food, and I'm glad we did. We both ordered the Angry Chicken sandwich, and it was fantastic. It had great flavor, a good level of spice, and was absolutely massive. For $19, though, it better be big! Honestly, I almost wish they offered a smaller version with just one chicken patty at a lower price. The sandwich has so many great elements, but it's almost too much food. I'd happily order a smaller version. Our server was friendly, but he was clearly spread pretty thin. It took a while to get drink refills and our check. Overall, there were a few things that could have been better, but I'd definitely come back for that chicken sandwich.
