I didn't frequent Peabody's since I have never been a person who loves dancing or DJs. Also, I was outside of Peabody's target demographic of 18-24 year-olds. This was during my "bitter chick rock" phase that still rears its head now and then, and one of my favorite bitter chick bands was L7! I saw their show at Peabody's on April 15, 1997. It was a great venue for this raw, bitter, loud band with a house packed and standing room only of fans trying their best to make a mosh pit. I guess Hole was my second favorite bitter chick band. Back to the L7 show. Classified as grunge, punk, and metal, I think L7 is more chick punk. Their guitarist was unavailable this night, and they replaced her with a local Va Beach chick guitarist who did a great job. The locals recognized her, I didn't. Smoking was allowed inside, and this audience was pretty aggressive for the times, with a lot of college aged guys wearing backwards baseball caps. That's fine, until the guys use their ballcaps as weapons to poke me in the forehead and face to try to keep me out of their mosh pit making range. The goal of the audience was to get to stage front. The audience even resorted to using cigarette lighters to burn each others clothes. Who does this? This show was during "The Beauty Process" tour and the setlist was great with songs from previous CDs including "L7" and other previous music. Par for the course, during "Cat-O-Nine Tails," a guy in leather bondage was brought on stage and then whipped with a whip by Donita, the lead singer. I'm confident this was just a show, and the poor guy wasn't hurt. "The Masses are Asses" is another L7 tune I like. Why no fifth star? The bouncers were interesting. They waited for patrons to make their way to the stage and for the most part, escorted the patron to the door - kicking nearly each one out. The crowd was "elbow to elbow" making it clear it was difficult to just take an overly rowdy and rough patron from the center of the crowd to kick them out. Still, the bouncers were sophomoric, and should have managed the crowd better. I'm happy to have seen L7, I'm happy my party were hurt, and I'm happy Peabody's provided a sizeable venue for an alternative show in the late 90s!

This is a pretty cool venue!…read more Babe and I visited twice before I decided to write my review! So this latest visit was on a Friday night about 6pm. It was super chill around this time and this was probably because they just opened their doors for happy hour and the live band. We were able to get a booth seat right near the stage where the local band (Ramonta and friends) were performing. Oh how I could forget...the entry fee... FREE!!!! Let's see...not too crowded, FREE entry, FREE buffet, happy hour drink specials...oh yeah, I am loving this so far. I am not sure how long this club/lounge has been in existence, but I was completely unaware of its existence prior to coming. I can remember driving by some years ago and noticed this was a restaurant once before. But now, they have made great use of the space. So you walk up to the door...security is waiting to check ID and your purse ladies. Not sure if it ever gets slammed, but the two times I have visited there has been no wait in line. So I visited once before on a Wednesday night about 10 pm and again a few Fridays ago just as the club opened. Nevertheless, we walked in and straight ahead is the bar and kitchen area. There is seating located on the right and left side of the club. The right side, I would consider your low key area, so if you want to check out things sit here. But over here, you can't see the dance floor area. Therefore, you may need to get up and roam to check out the whole scene. The left side, where the stage is located, you have about 10 booth seats. These booths also surround the dance floor that's a pretty decent size. You can also view the parking lot from this area...window seating if you will. The DJ booth is located over here too. You can also catch the game on one of their many TVs in the spot. Now if this spot fills quickly it will be standing room only and that could be an issue because it's not super spacey, but just enough space to chill, eat, and dance. Capacity maybe about 150 comfortably. Oh the food...it was tasty. Before I found out they offered a happy hour buffet, we had already ordered food. But it was crazy because about 5 items I ordered previously were unavailable...huh??? What do you mean, you don't have ANYTHING I am ordering...sheeeeesh!!! But they had plenty of fried chicken though - aye yi yi!!! Oh well, we ordered fried drumettes and fried shrimp. So yeah I mentioned how not busy they were and how they JUST OPENED the doors on that Friday evening...so the kitchen clearly wasn't ready to serve. It took 45 mins to get a order of two wing baskets and a basket of shrimp...fries sold separately. Whew... despite the severe wait time, I look forward to returning. I can't knock a club for not having food ready. Now if it was restaurant and nothing more, oh we would have left E-ME-JET-LEE!!!! I am not a club hopper at this age, but back in the day.......owwww, this would have been my lay low spot!!! Not too turnt* not too live, but just enough vibe and drink and get your two step on and leave feeling niiiiice! So yeah, a nice, chill spot with live music and a poppin DJ, I'm with it every now and then. As a result, this place foots the bill - SOLID. Not sure of the age requirements, but I'm guessing 25 and up...but mature crowd indeed - those I partied with on both nights were A OK!!! Private parking lot - Drinks Good - Waitstaff Friendly - I'd recommend you visit here if you enjoy urban music, hip hop, RnB - similar genres. Have fun :)

All of the clubs here are either super lame or packed with a bunch of young college kids. Omega however had a nice mix of ages and the atmosphere was great. We arrived around 11:30pm and there wasn't a line outside but it was pretty full inside, which I don't mind for a nightclub. There was a $10 cover charge for ladies and gents, not too bad. The drinks were typically priced for a club ($12 for most mix drinks). The DJ was great. I believe his name was DJ Atrevete and he played a good mix of latin music (Reggaeton, bachata, merengue, and a few hip hop songs). There were a lot of men there like some previous reviews state however it's a club...that's to be expected. I will be going back next time I'm in town.

The music was well balanced and kept the flow of the night. The dj was good, the bathrooms had no paper and the mens had a toilet but the door was removed. With the lack of Latin/Spanish dance/music available in the 757, this was nice. Manager was friendly. Bartenders nice as well.
