As someone from Middle Eastern descent, it is not often that I find this cuisine as enjoyable as it is home-made. Theo's is a gem off the beaten path. Anything they serve is delicious, but I would suggest "when in Rome..." order Greek! Their dolmades platter has this very original and flavorful lemon rue that I could not figure out how to imitate at home. I usually order their mousakka. And for an appetizer, the tzatki platter, artichoke dip, or their flaming cheese platter is a great start. I always tell myself that I shouldn't order an appetizer because the entrees are large, but it is hard to resist. Entrees typically come with a choice of tossed salad, Greek salad, or soup and a choice of 2 (?) sides. They also serve dessert. (Go with the baklava!) And their cocktail menu is sweet! The prices are average. Approximately $12-30/entree. As for the atmosphere, you will be hard pressed to find a cuter place. This is a restored popcorn factory. The old machines are still on display in the dining area. There is a mini golf course (1 hole ) indoors next to a water fountain for the kids to play. I believe there are three-four rooms: one for dining, one for the bar, and one or two for large parties. Paintings of Greek gods and goddesses adorn the tables and walls. Maybe we went on an off night, but, I was so disappointed. So many people mentioned this restaurant to me, saying it was one of their favorites so I went in with high hopes. Not a place for after 7pm large dinner parties. We had a group of 20 with reservations. Being a fan of Greek food I was thrilled to be surrounded by family and good food. The family part was right, the food part was wrong. We had 2 servers that covered our group. They wore shirts that said 'It's All Greek To Me' when I ordered spanakopata, my server asked me what it was. I had to show her spinach pie on the menu. To which she pointed out the back of her shirt to me. They had 2 choices of soup, I love the lemon chicken soup, they were out of it, so I opted for the second, and was told they were out of that.We that ordered soup were offered a salad, I ordered the house dressing and got a container of balsamic vinegar(not the good kind) At our end of the table, being family , we picked at each others plates, The gyro meat taste like 'Spam' not to tasty, more like something I would feed my dog. Poor dog! They came around and asked if we would like more drinks, and then told the patriarch of the family he would have to switch to another wine, as they were out of his, the asked if we would like more water, to which I replied, I would like a glass that held water. The lemon slices were soft and old. We were then instructed to go out into the main room of the restaurant to look in the dessert case to select our deserts. When i asked if they had 'galaktoboureko'. I was given the long sad story about how much time the woman in the kitchen cooks. Not my problem, hire help. All in all, when hungry for Greek food go to 309 highway in front of K-Mart an get a gyro from the vendor kart and save yourself a 'TON' of money. read more

Went for dinner with my husband and had a very good meal. We started with the grape leaves which were very good. My husband had the lemon orzo soup which was very Greek tasting with its bold lemon zest and creamy broth. He ordered the salmon which was very well cooked and I had the lamb kabob which which was well seasoned. We would definitely go back again sometime. read more

I won't say anything too bad because we only got appetizers so it wouldn't be fair to talk about the restaurant as a whole. But what we did get was delicious, especially the three dips with pita break. All three dips were great but the one problem I had was that they didn't give enough pita. Me and one other person ate all of the pitas, ordered more, and still had more dip to be eaten. For 12 bucks I should have been able to eat all of my dips. However, they didn't charge us for the extra pitas. Giving 4 stars because the service was great (didn't get charged) but not 5 because half of my food went to waste. read more

There's more to the valley than pizza and wings. Go here and get ready to have one of the best meals in the area. Authentic Greek food that really hits the spot. I usually get the moussaka, which is deliciously filling. The lemon potatoes prove to be a refreshing and enjoyable side. Get the grape leaves and Greek salad - you'll be dreaming of your next visit. While not a regular, anytime I wanted good, traditional Greek food, Theo's was the place to go. On a cold winter night what could be better than grilled lamb and lemon potatoes? Here is where the problems began. Being a duo, we ordered the Greek platter,- sample of everything including grilled lamb and lemon potatoes. Upon ordering we were informed there were no more lemon potatoes, huh??? They're a Greek food staple!!! Strike 1. Our platter arrived. It had what looked like some scraps of gyro meat, instant mashed potatoes and cold yellow and green beans. Strike 2. The very helpful, cordial and extremely stressed out waiter did take the platter back and brought us grilled lamb chops to replace the mystery meat. Should have been cooked to medium, they weren't even rare. They were raw. Helpful waitstaff returned them to the kitchen and brought them back, now cooked to beyond well done, basically inedible. Strike 3. While staff were helpful and accommodating and we were offered dessert and compensated for the (lack of) lamb, this was one of my worst dining experiences ever. Not sure what happened, this place used to be great. I'm sad to see this decline. One of our favorite places in the valley. Rarely crowded and the food is always good. Service has always been excellent. Usually get saganaki, dolmades and lemon soup and potatoes. Prices are very reasonable. The atmosphere of the old popcorn-ball factory is great. Try it you won't be sorry. read more

Have been at the restaurant three different times, it is a nice place with friendly staff. However, was really looking to enjoy the lamb kabobs and was really disappointed when two out of the three times I was there they had no lamb. This was 6:30 & 7:00, their prime dinner time. I will confess the one time I had it it was delicious, but you need to get your ordering straightened out to have it on hand all the time. read more

Traveled 45 minutes to get to this restaurant to take my beautiful yinaika out to an authentic Greek restaurant. I will start by saying the waiter was a real Malaka. The saganaki was flambeed with Bacardi 151 instead of ouzo.....yeah real authentic. Food way overpriced for the area and was ok at best. Totally disappointed in this very "dated" establishment. Had Valentines Day reservation. When we arrived we were greeted by the high school student that was working and told that we have a problem. It would be a two and a half hour wait because the kitchen was backed up. I fully understand a longer wait on valentines day but 1- we had reservations; 2- they had our number and should have called; and 3- a manager should have greeted us to apologize and offer us something. We left and went to a chain restaurant and had a great meal. We will not return here. read more

I found Theo's because having recently started on a Mediterranean diet, I was hoping there would be someplace in the area that would cater to that...but I did not expect to find it honestly considering this area is very limited in its offerings, but boy was I pleasantly surprised when I found this place! The food was fantastic! The saganaki appetizer was our favorite. It's a Greek cheese, dipped in an egg parmesan batter and quick fried, served flaming (for real) and served with a squeeze of lemon on top. It was out of this world. We also had the Greek Meatballs and for dinner my husband had a NY strip with crabmeat cream on top and I had this chicken dish that was delicious...it had a feta and veggies in a red wine sauce. MMM!!! The ambiance is very romantic too....it's very pretty and unique how it's set up (the place is huge!). I love how they preserved items from the old popcorn factory....the only reason I'm not giving it 5 stars is because apparently they allow smoking in the bar area. There wasn't anyone in the bar area when we ate there, but the moment you walked into that room you could smell that stale smoke smell..yuk. If I had actually smelled smoke during my meal, I would have been really turned off (lucky for us we didnt). I really wish they would get with the times and ban smoking in the place. Friends and I were headed to a concert and in a rush so we stopped by to grab some quick grub. We told the waitress we were in a rush and she was magical in getting our food out! I ordered grape leaves and lamb souvlaki, both of which were delicious (I was also starving). Wish we had had more time to explore the menu but we were pretty much in and out within 45 min. Food was not terrible, it desperately needs seasoning. Went here because of the good reviews on yelp I wish I knew what they ordered because mine really lacked any type of seasoning or any reason of ever coming back. I ordered the gyro, with the Greek salad. The dressing was just balsamic vinegar with no oil, very weird. The lam was grilled well but would have been better it it was seasoned with something? Anything!? Maybe a pinch of salt and pepper!? My wife got the kebabs with the same complaint. She asked for tzatziki because it was plain. And the service was so bad, really bad and there were only two tables on a Friday night.. Kitchen can be slow at times but generally its not a significant wait. Staff is friendly. The food is consistent and delicious. I recommend the greek meatballs, lamb souvlaki, gyro, lemon soup, lemon potatoes, and greek salad. Great stuff. Stuffed grape leaves not too shabby either. read more

Very disappointed! We have been there several times in the past and really enjoyed the food. This time, not so much! We waited well over an hour for our food. We were seated quickly, but had to wait quite a while for a waitress. After ordering our drinks, we had to wait AGAIN. My husbands coffee came after 10 minutes, but my wine did not. A waitress (not ours) said she saw my wine sitting at the bar and thought she would bring it over. (gee, thank you!) People that were seated after us were served long before us. After I complained, our food arrived. We ordered the sampler for two which came on two plates. One of the plates was lukewarm at best, the other was piping hot. It was not a good experience. I come from a large city, that being said it's a cultural melting pot. This restaurant knows nothing about traditional Greek food. Only decent part of the meal were the lemon potatoes. The gyro was terrible as was the humus and the greek salad left alot to be desired. Guess that's the best I can expect in NEPA for Greek food. read more

I ate here for the first time last weekend. I really enjoyed it. The place is much bigger than it looks from the outside and the interior décor is well thought out and inviting. The food was excellent. I got the chicken with peppers and onions and my wife ate the pasta. Both were good and the portions were right. I don't live in the area, so I have only been here intermittently. In the 5 years between visits, the place declined notably. It was never great, mind you, but at least the food used to be decent. The decor is eclectic, which is especially appreciated when the rest of the area seems to be holding on hard to the early 90s, but the service was lackadaisical both times. We ordered the same food we ordered the first time we went (because we are vegetarians). The saganaki while not authentic, was pretty good both times. However, the lemon potatoes we were served the second time were stale and tasted only of salt. Not lemony at all, like they were the first time. The dressing on the Greek salad was overly vinegared and the vegetables could have used a finer chop. The pita is now chewy and flavorless and the eggplant was not well prepared and therefore bitter and oily with an additional "off" flavor. read more

The artistic / industrial atmosphere is great! I would hightly recommend the lemon potatoes, which I get a "yen" for now and then...spinach pie! yum! It's a great restaurant with a great artistic vibe. DEFINITELY worth a visit if you like authentic greek food.
