Where do I start. Walked in the server/bartender productively cleaning glassware. It was lunch so a few tables. Decor 10/10. It was lunch so I opted for the express lunch combo. I did the toscana salad. Well plated, vibrant, flavorful. Apples Gorgonzola cheese and lemon dressing wins every time. The NY steak sandwich 8.5/10. Roasted red peppers,onion and mushroom all fresh. Artisan roll crusty outside fluffy inside. And the Drinks are BomB. I got Four martinis. The Bellini, the Golden Rita, the pear and the toscana. All well blended and packed a punch. I would like to make a significant update to my previous review. Decided to give Cafe Toscana another go as it has been a while. Six of us visited the restaurant prior to a show at the Kirby Center & I am very pleased to report that we had an excellent experience. We were seated right away & despite it being a very busy day, the wait staff was attentive & the service from the welcome, drinks, dinner & check were extremely timely. The drinks were made perfectly & all six dinners were excellent. We will definitely return & I will go on record saying I believe our previous experience was an outlier. This place was delicious! Came here for a friend's birthday and this place did not disappoint. I ordered the penne Al pesto with chicken and I give it a 9/10. Super creamy and the chicken was cooked perfectly. The portions were huge, so I have leftovers for tomorrow. I also ordered their calamari and I give it a 7/10. We booked a reservation for 6 for my sisters birthday. It was not our first time here, maybe 3rd or 4th. Prior experience the food has always been great. We were seated and our orders were taken quickly. The atmosphere here is always classy and beautiful, a great restaurant to relax and really enjoy your dinner at. Our servers were quick, but were soft spoken which I didn't really mind. I'm not sure what type of oil they use for their bread as a starter, but it is by far the best blend of oils and spices I have ever had! The crab stuffed mushrooms are small, but taste amazing. We ended up getting 3 orders of them for the table. Everyone's dinner came out hot and fresh. I personally got the Gondola Ravioli, which I HIGHLY recommend. Sauce was rich and the cheeses blended were tasty. Other dinners at the table included chicken florentine, shrimp scampi, regular penne with marinara, etc. Everyone really enjoyed their meals. Very disappointing meal. Our server was very nice, but the food was pretty bad. Gummy pasta in something that claimed to be a ragu, but really wasn't. My wife had lobster ravioli, she could barely detect the lobster. The wine list was just a small group of brand name wines that you would find in your local supermarket. read more

First and foremost, beautiful dinner everything came out very elegantly. Everything was prepared well and everything had a beautiful ambience. I got the veal parm on special and while the sauce wasnt very memorable it was a fine meal. Sister got veal marsala she said was good and dad got the mare seafood which was extraordinary. And tartufo was brilliant and beautiful! The calamari appeared light but was cooked wonderfully with good sauce (unfortunately not the sauce the veal was cooked in) and the salad was fine. The service was abysmal. There was a young white guy in the front who has such an attitude you would think that he wanted to burn the place down. As he took our order he refused to bring bread although serving it to other tables, he asked what we wanted before offering drinks, he was insulting and bizarre didn't know the menu and when we asked if the Zino had bones in it, he changed his mind three times before realizing he didnt know whether Branzino was and then told us to just have salmon with a smirk. What he didnt know is we are a family of chefs and we encourage this establishment to hire someone who knows food instead of this punk. He was very bizarre. Why was he behaving this way? Not sure The only thing we could think is that we are Arab. Finally without us even asking, another woman and a guy came to take care of us and they were wonderful so it was OK. Perhaps hes not comfortable serving people who are medium to dark skin? The new waiters didnt give bread either til the 3rd ask, as the other table chowed down on theres, then finally we got cold bread (beautiful country rustic but cold) with cold butter without the oil dip that was given to the white couple. Bizarre We tipped our typical 25% but hopefully this place gets a training soon All in all cute restaurant, good ambience and food, service brings it down 2 stars read more

Lovely decor and a very pleasant/attentive server. Two in our party had food allergies and we encountered some challenges placing our order as English wasn't the first language for the servers who tried to helped us. In the end, the custom salad with grilled chicken and the shrimp cocktail proved to be a very good meal. Others had the Eggplant Rollatini and the Chicken Florentine. The eggplant first came out as Eggplant Parm - which they took back and fixed - and the rollatini was excellent. The Chicken Florentine had a generous portion of chicken and I enjoyed the spinach and cheese that was served on top. But, I wasn't a big fan of the lemon sauce that was served over it. The sauce was thick, lacked any lemon flavor and was a strange bright yellow in color. read more

Stumbled upon this hidden gem while in Wilkes Barre on business. As a bit of a New York Italian food snob, I wasn't expecting too much culinary magic to transpire up in the mountains of Pennsylvania, and man was I pleasantly surprised. From the incredibly flavored olive oil dip to the fettuccine alfredo pasta with grilled chicken, I was truly amazed by this place. This is a nice little find. Bread basket was excellent once we asked for olive oil & Parm cheese The egg and spinach soup was ok. Lacked a little flavor. Entrees were the homemade Spinach Ravioli which was incredible! Tortellini with Mushrooms, peas and Prosciutto was very good. Side of meatballs was unfortunately we're not homemade and had a low of sodium/msg. Tiramisu was light and fluffy but lacked expresso flavor but was pretty good all the way around. Just go to Olive Garden. Only ate here once and years ago because I'm not local. But my family is and in my recent search for a place to take my nephew (who love fettucini alfredo) for his birthday, I remembered I had eaten here before and why I never came back. More expensive than Olive Garden and the food is not even as good as theirs. Which is sad considering it is a chain restaurant and not really outstanding in any way. Just predicatable and at least they use real parmesan cheese. Look at the photos associated with "good" reviews for this place, which show that they use powdered cheese. read more

I was in the mood for Italian and after the first place didn't look so hot, we landed here at Toscana. It's located right off the Public Square, so there's plenty of metered parking to be found in the evening hours. After 6pm, no need to feed them. A well dress wait staff greeted us and brought us to a proper linen-covered table with proper linen napkins. Very nice. Not much of a beer selection, but as an Italian restaurant they had the required Peroni. I had the Mozzarella Caprese to start, which was well plated. Very tasty with two large roasted red peppers in addition to the thick sliced cheese layered with tomato slices. The bottle of Balsamic vinegar was interesting. I think it could have been presented better, but it was still nice to have. For main, an interesting chicken dish with mushrooms and chestnuts caught my eye. What arrived were two very large chicken breasts pounded thin, covered in a Marsala-like sauce with lots of mushrooms and lots of tasty chestnuts. It is December, after all. I cleared the plate. Yum. Service was good, the food was very nice and while they do have a few very expensive entrees on the menu, there are also a lot of reasonably priced ones. I enjoyed it. I could eat here again. Absolutely delicious! Italian family here checking in. Honestly I don't eat red sauce from anywhere except our kitchen, but this was delicious! The fresh basil and red sauce was absolutely delicious! We ordered calamari and fried mozzarella cheese for appetizers, delicious! Dinners were spectacular as well! Two orders of penne vodka pasta, one order of tortellini with chicken, a delicious veal dish, and my favorite the eggplant parmigiana with breaded chicken. The drinks were great, service extraordinary, and the people couldn't be any nicer. Great atmosphere and delicious food at a reasonable price! I'll be back again for sure! read more
