Very friendly, fast, and good food and ice cream reminds me of my childhood going here.

I used to love Theo's. But under the new ownership it's gone downhill. At least for the icebergs. They are more expensive now with less ingredients. I used to always get the banana cream pie iceberg but now it's terrible. Never mixed right- just plain ice cream halfway down. And hardly any ingredients. I tried getting a Oreo iceberg but it only had one crushed up Oreo in it. read more

As we approached to order from the outside walk up windows we were told you had to order inside. We walked in and it was so hot inside...no air, it was not at all bright & inviting like every other ice cream shop. We proceeded to order & my husband stepped back outdoors to wait since it was so hot inside. I ordered a small choc/van twist cone & he ordered a small cherry slush glacier. It took about 10 mins, which was not bad but when she placed the cone and glacier on the counter I was sadly disappointed. The cone was very lopsided and the color of the ice cream was off. The vanilla was a weird rusty white color and the chocolate was pale grayish brown. You could tell by looking at it the texture of the ice cream was not smooth & creamy at all and very grainy & icy. My husband's cherry glacier had ice cream dripping down the side of the cup and a lid smashed on top & no straw or spoon.When she called my order I couldn't believe it was ours because every other place we order this, it looks tempting to eat. This looked so unappetizing! She had also placed my cone on the dirty counter where all customers are placing their hands and money on. I knew by the looks of my cone and after placing it on the counter that I was not going to eat it, it was all just off. I picked them up proceeded outside where my husband looked at my cone and & said that color is all off. He opened his treat and said this ice cream is off. I took one lick off my cone and it was gritty and the flavor was not good. Mine went immediately to the garbage, he tried to eat his but ended up throwing it away as well. A waste of $8 and sorry that we left a very generous tip. It has definitely changed from last summer. The ice cream, the cleanliness, the atmosphere have all gone down hill. Review Visit: June 17th, 2015 Theo's is The-o place to be for ice cream. Peoria seems to have a lot of ice cream places and Theo's was next on my list to visit. So, I gathered my good travel buddy Matt and my girlfriend at the time to drive there and check it out. I have actually tried to visit Theo's a few times prior to this but the location is just odd. It's kind of on the corner of a busy main street and a busy side street. Due to that, it's a pretty hopping place to go. On top of that, the parking arrangement is also strange. There is maybe room for a few cars in front of the building and a few spots on the side of the building but beyond that, you are relegated to using the curbs along the road. On our way there, we devised a Plan B as we have failed to try and get Theo's before. Luckily, we beat the crowd and were able to find a place to park. Memory is a bit foggy on this part but I believe Theo's is/was cash only. Don't quote me on that but do make sure you have some money on you as a precaution. I don't exactly remember what I ordered. I think it was an espresso-flavored ice cream while my girlfriend ordered a coffee-flavored one. We, of course, sampled what the other got. I have to be honest and say that while mine was great, her choice in flavors was 10x better. We actually came back by ourselves on another day and I got what she got and was happy. Matt ordered something unique off the menu. I don't remember what it was but he said it was delicious. I think it was a low-calorie ice cream treat. Since we ordered simple ice creams, we didn't have to wait too long for the cashier to yell out our order to pick them up. If you've never been to a proper ice cream shack, do know that if you order a lot of food it can take awhile to get it as they usually cook the food fresh and to-order. Theo's does offer a wide variety of options between ice cream and food. I have yet to try their non-ice cream offerings but I would imagine they are pretty good. At least the photos I've seen on Google/Yelp makes their food look good. If I do get to try their food, I will add my thoughts of it to this post. read more

I went back last week and was informed the prices listed are correct but yesterday when I went the same two females from before said the prices aren't correct. At this point I'm convinced they are up charging people and pocketing the money. There is no way you can't update a paper menu after a month to reflect the correct prices nor do I believe people are being disciplined for charging what is listed. read more

If you have not tried the puppy chow iceberg you definitely need to. The chili dogs are spot on also.

Annoying cash only and tiny parking lot but massive menu! Wow! So much to try, plenty of flavors, eager to please staff and putting some real fruit in my Iceberg (Blizzard). However I picked the blueberry cheesecake but it was definitely not cheesecake at all, nothing resembling that cheesecake twang or mouthfeel or any taste resemblance whatsoever. My other two buddies were happy with their purchases, cookie dough always a safe bet! Could see this place being a ripe hotspot all summer for decent prices and friendly staff - if only a way to avoid needing cash and getting into a rewards program to up the ice cream game. read more

Stopped here after hearing about it online...won't happen again. Ice cream had no flavor and very icy texture not cream. Got a container to take home and their version of a blizzard that had barely any toppings and the ice cream sucked...threw half away. Also ordered chilli dogs and those were the biggest rip off. Hot dogs were small and flavorless- they were mainly bun. MAYBE 2 tablespoons tops of chilli on each dog leaving each a lot to be desired. Would I go back or recommend...no!! read more

The ice cream isn't real ice cream, not quite sure what it is. Fake banana flavoring. Cheeseburger was just that. Cheese on a burger with a bun, nothing else. Not sure why the hype for this place. Nothing was delicious. read more

My wife and I decided to branch out the other night for dinner and we happen to pass Theo's and thought why not give it a try. Just be warn it's a cash only place, but that's not why I'm giving them 3 stars. When we got their my wife order Nachos with a Pork Chop Sandwich and I was going to order a Cheeseburger with Nachos. We were told they were out of burgers. No big deal then my next option was the Pork Chop Sandwich. The lady told us they only had 1 pork chop left so being the gentleman that I am I gave that to my wife and just ordered brats. We also ordered ice cream as well along with a Tamale. I could hear the worker in the back yell "Stop ordering food". When we got our meal the food was not bad but was not good. The ice cream was better than the food. Overall we wanted to try a new place and we did but I think this visit was a one and done. If you decide to go here I would advise against ordering any real food and just stick to the ice cream. read more

Came here because it was really talked up by a friend but I came on a bad day and haven't been back. Got a brat that was burned AND shriveled! Wow, talk about your double whammy of yuck. So they burned it and then kept it in a vat of some liquid until I came along..... Vanilla shake contained some added chunks of styrofoam. As I considered how they got in there, you have to think what is this ice cream made of that would include some sort of styro packaging? Some kind of powder base in a tub mixed with water? I love Theo's!! I only give them 4 stars though because they don't offer small blizzards/concrete mixers (whatever you want to call them).. They offer regular and large and to be honest the regular is a large in my opnion. I love their flavors (mint chocolate chip, german chocolate cake, peanut butter--w/ three different kinds of peanut butter candy, strawberry shortcake, etc), but the servings can just be too big if you are trying to be a tad on the healthy side :). Everything I have had has been delicious though! I def. recommend a visit to Theo's this summer if you are in need of an icy treat! read more

I go here often . Number one reason is for their Hot Fudge shakes. If you never had one try it. So much better than Chocolate shake. They also have the best Chilli dogs in Peoria as far as I an concerned. . Try this place you will like it.... read more

First time we tried it this year -- tamales were terrible - shrink wrapped in plastic! And tasted like plastic! Hotdogs weren't very good either - with very little chili on top. Back to Emo's for us - even though it's a longer drive. read more

I love theo's it has the best vanilla ice cream ever. it is better than tall bobs and the spotted cow combined they have the best hot dogs and chili dogs peoria has to offer! They have so many different iceburgs (blizzards) to choose from. They are afforadable and convenient. If you have a brain in your head you will go today! read more
