Disappointing experience at the bakery. First time there. The girl behind the counter didn't seem excited at all, she seemed bothered and impatient to even serve customers, it really left a bad taste in my mouth, I should've not spent a penny there and walked out. I never understand how service companies never trained their employees to be friendly and just human decency. Went to the coffee shop. They don't even have half-and-half. They've got carnation little creamers that's not half-and-half. Also, as somebody else has mentioned, the setup is very confusing. You have two different rooms that are connected to each other, but you have to pay for the baked goods on one side of the coffee on the other side, those supposedly they're the same company, very disjointed. We were so excited to pick up our cake for our mom's 81st birthday. It was a black forrest cake. Was to say Happy Birthday Mom on it. Le Bakery came highly recommended to us from locals (we are from out of state. When the counter assistant brought out the cake I was so confused as to why she would even present something that looked so aweful. I was in stunned silence. In an effort to be kind I left with the aweful cake and ran to Walmart to get a can of cherries to cover up the ugly black bleeding frosting. Im still stunned. A little confusing on where to order. Can I order pastries at the coffee shop. Coffee at the bakery counter? It was my first time there and everyone else who came in must've known what they were doing. The barista was quite possibly the friendliest person I've ever met. LeBakery and LeCafe! I've always known this place was here but I want to say that they only recently expanded out into having a cafe attached to the bakery. Maria hit me up for some coffee once I was back from Colorado and suggested we stop in here for caffeine and maybe some baked goodies. The coffee menu here is small so don't expect a full-fledged menu to order something fancy. I settled on a brown sugar cinnamon iced coffee. While ordering it, the barista asked if I wanted it as a cold brew and I said yes. But once I got my coffee and started sipping on it, I knew it wasn't an actual cold brew and it was just an iced coffee. While not a big deal, I wasn't a big fan of the drink as a whole. Somehow a cold version of brown sugar cinnamon just isn't that good, in my opinion. Maria got a drink, too, and agreed. She let me try her drink and I found it even less favorable than mine. While sitting there and catching up on the last few weeks, I got a snickerdoodle cookie to snack on since I didn't eat breakfast. For where the coffee was lacking the cookie more than made up for it. The snickerdoodle was soft and chewy and tasted just right. For as big as it was, I could've gone for another one, easily. At about $2 a piece, it's worth every penny. Maria got a quiche breakfast meal and some cinnamon bread while we were there. She said the meal was pretty tasty but didn't realize she ordered a meal instead of just a piece of quiche. The bakery, cafe, and staff are all very nice. Everything seems freshly painted and the general vibe was nice and clean. Its a bummer the coffee was lackluster but that may have just been the combination that we ordered. However, it was dry and the frosting was hard and I mean old sitting cupcakes HARD..cupcakes tasted old and definitely dry no moistness to it. With all this being said I DO NOT recommend this place for cupcakes. Betty Crocker moist cake mix and baking your own cupcakes is your best bet unless you can find another Bakery that makes delicious cupcakes but Le Bakery is not it and don't waste your money and time. I asked for a plain white scraped look and there was a spot that was not iced enough or possibly scraped too much so the cake itself was visible. This was my first visit here, though I have passed by many times. I'm very happy I dropped in to check it out. I had brunch and bought a loaf of sour dough bread. The bread is excellent with great texture and an excellent sour flavor, not like the stuff I usually buy at the supermarkets labled sour dough. I had a BLT on white bread. Again, the bread was excellent, with great flavor and texture. It had plenty of bacon but a little lacking on the tomato. They were your typical store bought verity, which is surprising given that they are 200 ft from the farmer's market. I hope they start buying their supplies there when in season. Overall the sandwich was very good and I'll have no problem going back for one. The ambiance of the café section is cozy and thought set up well. The bakery is set up like a traditional one with all their wares set up behind the cases. The smells were lovely, and the sight of all the goodies delightful! The service was very good, quick, and polite in both the bakery and cafe. The owner came out and asked about my experience, which I pretty much told him what I'm writing here. They are easy to order from, their cakes and cupcakes have exceeded my expectations both in how they look and taste. LeBakery has also delivered to my office downtown at no charge which is rare. I placed an order for a 1/2 sheet encanto themed cake and 24 chocolate chip cookies for for my daughter's 5th birthday over a month before her party. I went back the next day to give them a picture of what I had wanted. Well they couldn't find my original order form from the day before so they had to make a new one. The main guy acted a bit perplexed when I showed him the picture of what I had wanted then said it would be $92 bc of all the detail. (I'm thinking okay but this place does wedding cakes?) None the less I placed the order bc I really wanted my daughter to have her special cake. I called a little over a week ahead to make sure they were still good to go on my chocolate chip cookies for my daughters class and her Encanto cake. They said yes all was good. Picked up her cookies they were big and thinner than the ones we had originally tried although they were good, they tasted & looked "store bought." The day of her party we arrived about an hour earlier as we wanted to pick up some other goodies for Easter. They come out with a cake that was not what I had orders at all. They go back to the back, come back out with two order forms. Both mine. The original one and the second one they had to fill out bc they had lost the other order form. They say "oh looks like you or someone called and ordered 2 cakes the same day, that's really weird." "She's still finishing up the other cake, you guys are early." It will be just a few minutes. I tried to explain the situation clearly with the mix up with the original order form that had gotten lost and other order. They didn't get it or care and basically shrugged it off saying "shame this cake (not the one I wanted) was a pretty cake" which yea it was but again not at all what I had ordered and acted like it was my own mix up/fault. Why they wouldn't have the noticed/figured out that there had to have been a mix up is beyond me and instead still made 2 cakes instead of calling me to make sure 1st. Several minutes go by as we're waiting, and waiting and waiting keep being told a few more min. Finally our cake is ready an hour later the time of our actual pick up time. Yes, we were an hour early but why wouldn't our cake already be done instead of waiting to finish i it very last min!? We get our cake I asked if it would still be the same price? $92 and the guy says yes. At this point i'm fuming to the point i'm about in tears and just want my daughters cake. No apology, no discount. We also ended up late to my daughters party. As far as the cake, The design was similar to what we wanted but the colors were very muted and the cake was really thin, one corner of the cake was also lopsided. I had really high hopes for an amazing cake for my daughter and had raved about our original experience and was very disappointed in the end. Never again. Also the pie and cookies we got for Easter not good-cookies very dry, pie was "fruit of the forrest" somehow ended up really salty. mistake salt for sugar maybe? It made for a very frustrating and exhausting weekend. read more

They have a nice variety of desserts: cookies, thumbprint cookies, cookie sandwiches, danishes, cinnamon rolls, breads, baklava, tarts, cakes, cake pops, and cupcakes. I highly recommend their gourmet cupcakes, napoleons, and le petits. Service is fast and somewhat friendly. Their desserts are certainly good and not overly sweet. Main complaints are their thumbprint cookies can be too brittle, and their cupcakes are dry and not soft. Prices are a bit high to run into these issues. Although I've only experienced Le Bakery's fares a couple of times, I've depended on them for two momentous occasions, and they've come through for me with flying colors. Last December, Le Bakery custom-made my wedding cake for me with only a couple of weeks' notice. They were actually recommended to me by the folks at Cracked Pepper Bakery, who said that Le Bakery's kitchen could much better accommodate the type of cake I was looking for. I requested a small two-tier, dense New York style cheesecake, which they frosted with decadent buttercream and topped with a gorgeous array of raspberries. They weren't sure at first how the cheesecakes would hold up stacked on top of each other, but we talked through what I wanted pretty meticulously, and we ended up with a cake that my family still gushes about a year later. I'm writing this review because my husband and I just devoured our top layer last week after pulling it out of deep freeze over Thanksgiving weekend, and it was as perfect as I remembered it. The pricing was very reasonable, and my brother was able to pick up the cake the day of our ceremony without a hitch. More recently, we visited Le Bakery on our tip home to Peoria for Thanksgiving, as they were open when Trefzger's was not on Black Friday. When I called to inquire about what pies they had available, they named off 6 or 7 options, none of which were the cream pie I had my heart set on. But when I mentioned this, the gentleman I spoke to on the phone immediately inquired with their baker, who said he could whip me up a banana cream pie within about three hours. When I went to pick up my pie, they were just putting the finishing touches on it. I took a sample of the cinnamon buns they had set out (so so delicious) and oggled at the gorgeous cream horns and little individually portioned cakes (tiramisu, mmm). When my pie was finished, they wrapped it lovingly in a pastry box, and I was on my way only about $12 poorer (I believe they happened to offer 10% pies on Friday). I'm from Los Angeles, so this amazing price blew me over, though I'm pretty confident it's a great price for a custom-made super fresh and high quality bakery pie no matter where you live. Also, it was absolutely delicious--simply made without embellishments but honest-to-goodness one of the best tasting banana cream pies I've had in recent memory. The bananas were nicely sliced (no huge chunks), the pudding tasted homemade instead of out of a Jello box, and the whipped topping, although not made from real heavy cream, was fresh and light and swirled on top beautifully. The crust, although not as dark or flaky as I would have liked it, was crisp and delicious. Everyone, including my husband's grandparents who aren't typically banana cream pie fans, enjoyed a big slice and had nothing but compliments. I had another piece for breakfast Saturday morning before flying home. Thanks, Le Bakery, for coming through for me yet again. I can honestly say this is one of the highlights of a Peoria visit for me. read more

My daughter ordered her birthday cake and she wanted chocolate covered strawberries but she wanted pink chocolate they did not use pink chocolate it was regular chocolate. The flavoring was supposed to be half vanilla and half lemon they mixed up the vanilla and the lemon together my daughter was not happy with my daughter wants to go pick up the cake the box was wide open with no covering no plastic or anything in this instance in till to help dry the cake out so it was not moist upon cutting the cake and it was just a horrific experience for her. I used to come to Le Bakery when my children were small, and it doesn't sound like it's the same people that owned it back then and it's really sad because the name carries itself but at this rate they're really going to just destroy the name and it's sad. My daughter tried to call and explain what was going on and she was polite but this lady was so rude to her super rude like unnecessarily rude.
