I have yet to try the food here but the pastries were decent! The owner was nice. I give it a 3 because the atmosphere. I tried the churro which was good and the vanilla flavored empanada. Both pretty good!

Only place I was able to find that sells good Mexican Bread. I came here to get some pan dulce and bolillos. They were very tasty. The people working there were very friendly and courteous.

Panaderia Ortiz (PO) is a very unique neighborhood gem and difficult to compare with other local restaurants. This place is a local Mexican bakery, a mini-grocery store, and an order-and-sit restaurant all rolled into one. As a bakery, PO is by far the most unique and delicious in the Peoria area. The selection is incredible. You start by grabbing a metal tray and a pair of tongs. You then walk through and select any number of pastries, cookies, breads, or treats. Counted over 30 different items to choose from. Most of them I've never seen before. Once you've selected, you walk up to the counter and pay. Would rate the bakery by itself 5 stars. The restaurant portion has a small menu with Tacos, Burritos, Tortas, or Tamales. I ordered the three tacos (all chicken) with rice and beans on the side. The server messed up the order but corrected it later. The tacos were outstanding. The rice and beans (especially the beans) were sub-par. The beans were dry, overcooked, and pasty. The tacos are served in a double mini soft corn tortilla with cilantro and salsa. Very yummy. 3 stars for the restaurant. Last they have a mini grocery section with hard to find Mexican items. Overall unique experience. You get the feeling you've temporarily left Peoria for a quick trip to Mexico when going here. Must have the right expectations when eating in. I will definitely go back.

Hope the prices help - couldn't find a menu online.

It's a hit or miss place. Tamales are great. Tacos are good but not a lot to them. Baked goods are decent. Best for take out.

Authentic bakery. They are reasonably priced and there pastries are the best in town. You really have to try their cream filled churros.

this place is a gem! that hit every check point to a great night on my girlfriends birthday!!…read more Bucky(great guy and stellar waiter!) took great care of us. we have some dietary preferences that we never impose on a place. we know our way around a menu and what we can and can't do. they really don't like tinkering with the dishes as they believe they are perfect the way they are(and they are right). however, the kitchen was gracious enough to do one of their pizzas without fresh motz and added beautiful heirloom tomatoes. we both agreed, Dave Portnoy would of gave it a 10...incredible!! the carrot appetizer as insane...bread perfect...everything was amazing. ambiance was perfect, lit dimly but not too much. glass/china was beautiful and looking at the open kitchen was soooo cool!! Bucky even brought out two glasses of Sauternes to help celebrate the occasion and made my GF's heart melt. every staff that touched the table was so nice and personable. thanks again for the amazing night!! couldn't of been better!!!

Always love going to Ardor Bakery!!…read more Today we went during the farmers market & we were quickly welcomed & able to sit outside on the patio. Quickly, our server came by & got us started on some drinks. I had the oat milk draft latte (which I've ordered to go multiple times) & it remains my favorite drink in Peoria! We got the maple breakfast sandwich with bacon added & it was the perfect amount of crispy & flavorful. We got two bakery items to share which were also yummy! The best thing we got was the potatoes with the harissa sauce - OBSESSED. They were beautiful & the dill was a great touch. Loved our meal & service! Will be back of course!! Added some photos from a previous to-go bakery order!

I ordered a Tres Leches cake for a gender reveal party, and oh my God, it was absolutely AMAZING. Everyone kept asking me where I got the cake from. It tasted incredible and looked stunning as well. Hands down, totally worth trying--I'll definitely be ordering again! Also, when I went to pick up the cake, I noticed they have a super cute café next to the bakery. The place had such a great vibe--everyone seemed to be enjoying their coffee and fresh salads, and it just felt like a really warm, welcoming space.

I never understand how service companies never trained their employees to be friendly and just human decency. Went to the coffee shop. They don't even have half-and-half. They've got carnation little creamers that's not half-and-half. Also, as somebody else has mentioned, the setup is very confusing. You have two different rooms that are connected to each other, but you have to pay for the baked goods on one side of the coffee on the other side, those supposedly they're the same company, very disjointed. As you can tell, I won't be returning. I'm a small business owner and I wish them all the best but they've got to fix their service. There are 101 coffee shops in Central Illinois.

Go to Schnucks for donuts at half the price and tastier. Please read the entire review for details. ==== HOURS: I wanted to try their donuts, and I've dropped by twice before my actual visit at about 11 - 12 PM, only to find the place closed. I wondered if the company had closed permanently. ==== SERVICE: The absolute worst part of my experience here. I walked in yesterday, Friday 08/22/2026, and two older ladies were behind the counter. They failed to greet me, not even a "Good morning" as the rest of the entire country does reflexively when they see another person. The two continued talking to each other as if I didn't exist. Once I was at the counter, this was the conversation as close as I can recall it: Me: "Morning!" Clerk 1, as if annoyed by my presence: "What do you need?" Me: "I want a dozen donuts. I don't care which ones, as long as they have no nuts or coconut." Clerk 1 nods, then continues their conversation with the other employee as if I wasn't there. Me, interrupting them: "You know, I tried coming here two other times, and y'all were closed. Do you people close shop after you are sold out?" Clerk 2, dryly: "No. We never close early. We close at 2 PM." Me, frowning because of the blatant lie: "Right." Clerk 1: "Do you want a Maple Donut?" Me: "Sure, I don't care. Say, your (ordering) website says that first-time customers get $5 off a $20 purchase." Clerk 2: "You have to order online." Me: "Oh. I can place it and pay online." Clerk 2, annoyed: "No. You can't place the order today. You can only place it tomorrow." (NOTE: Their website restriction only says: "This offer is only available to first-time guests." This says nothing about having to place the order for another day. So they lied.) Me, skeptical and slightly annoyed: "Okay... Hmm... do I want a bacon maple donut... How much is it?" Clerk 1: "$3.50." Me, pondering for a moment: "No, I'll pass. I got plenty of donuts." Then we proceeded to complete the transaction to avoid any further conversation with them, and I left with a sour taste in my mouth from that interaction. This is not the way to treat any customer, especially a first-time customer! My average donut shop experience is that I'm met by a clerk with a sunny attitude and a desire to help customers (whether genuine or to get tips). These two old bats really need a stern talking-to by management or, if they're the owners, this bakery does not deserve anyone's business. ==== FOOD: Overrated, mid-quality donuts. If you go to buy a novelty product claiming to be made of potatoes, you would at least expect it to have a trace of potato flavor. If I were to give it a generous review, I would say it tastes like an average donut. Granted, the donuts are huge, but so is their price. Since I'm not here to sugarcoat this bakery, these donuts are extremely sweet, to the point that they overpower everything else. If I wanted to taste sugar, I'd eat a heaping mouthful of sugar! You can't taste anything else of the donut, not even the oil it's cooked in, and that's saying something! These donuts also grow stale very fast. I had a leftover donut this morning, properly stored, and it tasted like it had been left out in the open for a couple of days. ==== ATMOSPHERE: Uninteresting. A few tables and chairs are scattered about, but it has no sense of decor. It has a bus station diner vibe. ==== CONCLUSION: This bakery lacks decor and a homey feel, offers overhyped donuts that taste only of sugar, and is staffed by two unpleasant, bitter hags. Consider going elsewhere!
