Great food and service! I like the banana split it's a meal in itself. Sandwiches are good also!

This is THE Shake Shack, not the Shake Shack restaurant chain. Emily and I made plans to visit Analytical Brewing based on a shirt we saw at Evergreen Farm Brewing. While looking for things to do in Lexington, I found that there isn't much due to it being a small town. BUT, there is an ice cream shack right next to the brewery and that was the perfect spot to get some food before putting down a few beers. We pulled up and walked around to the ordering window outside. There was a lady in front of us which gave us time to figure out what we wanted. Emily settled on a philly steak sandwich and I got the buffalo chicken sandwich. We took a seat at one of the tables and waited for our food. There is an indoor seating area and I did go check it out since we had time to kill. I took a glance in and liked what I saw. It had a very diner-esque feel inside. I didn't do more than stick my head in and look around due to the only people inside were some teenage girls. It didn't take too long for the food to come out. Emily and I took our food and headed next door to try and eat it inside the brewery. The bartender said it was a-okay to eat inside. Funny enough, once we sat down, we say a sign on the table that said you can order from your table and it'll either be brought over from The Shake Shack or you can go grab it real quick. We were both starving and we dug in real quick (while sipping our beers, but that post comes next). The buffalo chicken sandwich was delicious! It wasn't too hot or too spicy, which was a bit of a bummer but the flavor and heavy butter flavor in the bun was just what I needed. Emily said her philly steak (minus onions) was possibly the best thing she's ever had... either because she was famished or it was just that good. So, the food is great! At least what we had. How was their ice cream offerings? Funnily, we didn't get any. The idea sounded good after we were done at the brewery but in reality... we were just ready to head home and unwind from everything. The desire was there at least! I have no doubt that if their ice cream is as good as their food, you are in for a treat. If I go back and get their ice cream, I will add a comment in here on how it was. Also, I didn't really get any good photos here so it would be nice to go back and get some better ones. read more

It's an ordinary burger and nothing special sides, but the small town atmosphere and ice cream here are a delight. We stopped by on a Sunday afternoon on our way from St. Louis to Chicago. The (high school?) girls on the staff were cheerful and friendly. We got there right before the local little league team showed up to celebrate a big victory. We sat on the patio and chatted with strangers about our cat over a swirl soft serve cone. It was like a time travel experience to the era before chains. read more

I was there in Lexington for a street fair. I'm always looking for a good street vendor, but not much choice, so I went to a local establishment. Had an inside eating area and also an outdoor area with a walk-up order window, plenty of outdoor seating, some with umbrellas. The food was amazing. The pulled pork sandwich was perfectly smoked. Hot fresh breaded mushrooms and fried pickles. I would highly recommend it if you are in the area. read more

If you have a taste for ice cream, it's probably the place to go. Foodwise, it's not bad, but it didn't blow me away. Part of me wonders if one of us should have gotten a burger. I got a pork tenderloin sandwich, which was good (I wonder if it should have had mayo, though I won't rule out there might have been a bit, and it was just subtle). A child tried a BLT but he felt the bacon was too crispy, which... it's a bit of a style choice. My wife tried the fried shrimp and seemed to like it well enough. Another child had some of the shrimp and had some of the sides we ordered. Dessertwise, it was solid soft-serve based ice cream options. On a kid note, this may be the first place my children both didn't want to finish the small amount of macaroni and cheese side we had. And usually I fall to the designated cleanup-man in these situations and I passed too. I would recommend avoiding that particular option. On an accessibility note, we did have someone in a wheelchair, and while they were able to enter the place and sit, it didn't seem like they'd be able to use the bathroom. They have a sign that suggests it's accessible, and inside the bathroom it's kind of spacious, but there's only a huge step to get up there (tables are a bit tight too). Maybe someone would bring out a ramp to get up to that step if you needed to go to the bathroom, but all those extra hoops are kind of a negative. Burger was very good! Twist soft serve was delicious! Skip the potato salad. Thought it would be homemade but it tasted store bought...Cold turkey sandwich had a generous amount of turkey (almost too much) but the cheese was processed...Service was super friendly & very fast! read more

The perfect stop in Lexington after a filling lunch at the local pizza place. Shake Shack had a delicious vanilla shake and butterfinger flurry. Our kids were all raving about them. The small-town friendliness was also off the charts- excellent service! read more

Such a good little restaurant. They have the BEST ice cream and delicious food as well. If you give it a try, i recommend the junior Jason burger. I've never had a bad one! It's worth the drive to Lexington, you won't be disappointed! read more

Ice cream really hits the spot on a long road trip! The Shake Shack has lots of options for dessert and tasty smashburgers. Very classic menu with something for everyone. The Shake Shack is a cute spot on the main drag with other local businesses in Lexington. They have seating inside as well as tables outside. The waitstaff was very friendly and the menu had a decent range of options. They also have a separate dessert menu including ice cream. I ordered the chicken tender basket, described on the menu as "chicken breast cut and breaded". The food arrived in a timely fashion and was nice and hot. I proceeded to break a chicken tender in half to let it cool and was disappointed that it was definitely a highly processed, previously frozen chicken tender. It was not what the menu described and I would not have ordered that had I known. I explained this to the waitress and repeated the wording on the menu. She shook her head and confirmed that the chicken does come frozen. I asked for a grilled chicken breast sandwich instead and said I wanted to send the tenders back. The waitress said that wasn't necessary. The grilled chicken breast sandwich was good and the toppings were just right. When our bill came, we were still charged for the tenders as well as the chicken sandwich so that was very disappointing. Just a word of caution if you dine here to confirm if what you are ordering is the quality described on the menu. read more

I've been visiting this place for at least 10 years. Burgers remind me of Steak n Shake (which is a GOOD thing in my opinion). Crispy edges on the burgers that are smashed thin. Good variety of toppings available. And can I say....THE. SHAKES. Omg, thick and delicious. Last visit got cheese sauce for our fries and it was flavorful and an ample serving. Ordered for pickup and things were packed and ready when we got there. Highly recommend this hometown, local restaurant. read more

If I lived in the Bloomington-Normal area I could eat lunch here every day. We stopped here, as it's right off 55, on the way down to Cahokia and it was so good we ate here again in the way back. One of the best burgers I have eaten in a long time; the ground beef is just so fresh. Shakes are delicious too; everything is good. Service is very friendly and helpful; this is the kind of place that has regulars, and the people taking the orders know what they regularly eat. They also volunteer suggestions for your meal from the bottom of their heart. Every sandwich comes with a basket option which is very thoughtful; instead of just adding fries, you get two sides with a range of options. Lovely and truly homey and old-school. read more

We found this place on a road trip. We were looking for a quick lunch - not fast food. (There was a mcDonalds close by.). It is owned by a young husband and wife team who bought the place 4 years ago. It is primarily a lunch/soft serve ice cream parlor. In Early November it was not crowded. (The owner said they were going to close for the season in a few weeks.) We all enjoyed our meals. Especially good are the house made chips. The menu selections are varied enough and include the standard sandwiches, burgers, and hot "dawgs". The decor was fun - old posters, old sewing machine, old license plates on view. read more

Traveling back from St. Louis to Chicago area. This is a great nostalgic piece of Americana. Solid hamburgers. Home made and fresh. Home made chips that were excellent. Salads and other entrees on the menu as well. The restaurant is nothing to write home about but the friendly service and quality of food are well worth the stop. Ice cream was soft serve and reminded me of that ice cream stand on the side of the road in your smaller towns. We will make a point to stop here again during are central illinois travels. read more

Just made 1st visit to the shake shack. Incredible lunch! My wife had chili cheese burger. Huge portion. Fresh ingredients. She can't believe she ate it all! I had the pork tenderloin. Homemade, thick piece of delicious pork. Lighted breaded. Definitely the best tenderloin I've ever had. Had fries and slaw and two cokes. Less than $14 for us both. This is the worst! It's so cute looking and the atmosphere was nice (only reason I'm giving it 2 stars ugh). The food could have been good if it wasn't undercooked...but everything was ruined by having to listen the the manager/owner(?) constantly complain about everything. This woman is clearly old enough to know better, and she was busy off in the corner ignoring her business to talk crap about her teenage workers. It's one thing to have a professional dialogue, but a 30 some year old woman was straight being "high school mean girl" to a 17 year old! Ugh. Don't give your business to this drama filled environment. The only thing worth the time is the decor. read more

Wonderfully friendly staff - make you feel like you're a regular even if you just stopped in for the first time. It's a small, cozy little building that looks like it has history. Our waitress, Melanie, did a great job and was able to turn the heat up when I asked (it was really cold inside!). Hubby had a burger and homemade chips and said they were really good. The chips were crispy, the burger had good flavor and the portion was just the right size. I had the special of the day which was fried fish and liked it. The pizza that others were ordering looked great though and if we ever have the opportunity to stop here again, I will definitely be trying that. We did order shakes to go and because hubby was driving and couldn't use a spoon, he thought they were too thick - I didn't have that problem though and I thought it was very good! I would give this little spot 5 stars except I felt like one of the young girls who worked there (she acted like she was an owners daughter) kept turning the heat down to 60 because she was hot when everyone else in the restaurant was obviously cold. read more

This restaurant is a very quaint and homey feeling place. It can set around thirty people and the staff was very friendly. I'm sad it is in such a hidden place because I love to support mom n' pop places like this one. The food was good. You can tell the burgers were made fresh and not frozen. Their chili has beans and my friend did it was superb! I had the Philli Cheese Steak which was also homemade and fresh. Not the typical meat - it was really good and the flavors mixed well. Their onion rings were decent, and their chips were homemade. My buds say their shakes are off the hook! The ice cream is thick, so the shakes are thick. I would recommend this little shack to anyone in the area. Support the mom n' pops. Don't forget to leave your mark on their wall, and look for the SVD novices 2014-2015. read more

I was here right when the new owners started up and they had to work out some small kinks but this visit i ordered the gyro, which is the special on a saturday along with patty melts, and things are running smoother! It was made more like a gyro platter instead of a sandwich which i liked. Four slices of grilled meat layed across a grilled pita bread with onions and tomato and feta cheese on the side along with the cucumber sauce. I was pleasantly surprised. My sides were ff and pasta salad. The fries are crispy and not greasy at all...very good! The waitress is one of the owners and is very nice and always asking if you need anything. Her husband is the other owner and he is the cook. Come try the food, which is the same menu, and meet the new owners. Lets all support their business!! They are only closed on mondays now and have new specials. Homemade pizza served now all day everyday! read more

I love my burgers and I love my shakes... And I travel like crazy... Hands down, The Shake Shack 's Moo Cluck Oink is one of the best, if not the best burger I can remember having. And that Chocolate shake was outstanding. We got off that exit and Mcdonalds was not an option. Hands down, this place left us speechless! I definitely wouldn't expect to find a burger this good in a small farm town in the middle of nowhere.
