The people that live in Cambridge really over rate this place. Literally you could make a tv dinner taste better than some of the food. I have tried it a couple times, different things every time and still no surprise, GROSS. We were excited to try this place. We'd seen it the few times we were in the area, it was recommended by a former resident and the place has been there since 1931 so they had to be doing something right, right? Sigh. I got the idea this was like a "from scratch" type place but everything if it wasn't from a can or jar, tasted like it was. Super salty in some areas, completely bland in others. We both got the french onion soup, ate 2 bites and the entree came so that was a little off-putting. It was probably a blessing in disguise though because it was flavorless. I got the bourbon pork chop (I was expecting a big ol juicy pork chop), mashed potatoes and cottage cheese. He got the steak burger and fries. When the pork chop arrived, it was not thick and juicy, it was once about a 10 oz boneless loin cut into 3- 3 oz slices with the sauce dumped on top. The potatoes were fair but instant with thick, canned gravy. (If they weren't instant and canned they tasted that way) I ate one of the pieces and couldn't stomach the rest. The cottage cheese was the best thing on the plate. The hubby had me taste his burger after he took a bite and I said "it's good" to be polite and he said "um, not really." So he didn't like it and the fries are those kind of batter dipped ones and neither of us care for those. We're not dessert at restaurant people but people raved about their pies so we got a slice of dutch apple and chocolate peanut butter. The apple, again I hate to harp on this, tasted like filling from a can in a baked in a pie crust. Like I pointed out to the hubby, the sign says "baked fresh every day" not made fresh every day. The chocolate peanut butter one was better but there was no chocolate taste, the peanut butter was overwhelming. I think layering the two might work better....one layer of chocolate cream and one layer of peanut butter cream instead of mixed together. But it was still good. We both agreed despite the really nice staff, the food was just too processed tasting for us to go back. Never know til you go I guess. I'll head 9 miles to the Timbers at Salt Fork Lodge for a better meal with the same types of offerings. read more

The "Coney Dog" is a tasty classic. But I had the pork chops and rib eye steak. It was some of the worst "food" I have ever had. I say "food" because it was not edible. When you see tables of 300+ lbs people shoveling spoons fulls of grave in they gullets it is more reminiscent of a feeding troth at a farm then a restaurant. Wife and I gave Theo's a try yesterday at lunch and found it overall average at best. I got the chili and the swiss mushroom burger, and the wife the French onion soup and the steak sandwich. Now I liked the slight heat of the chili and would rate it a 4+, and the burger was better then average and a 3+. The French onion soup was very thin and tasteless giving it's 1 rating, and the steak sandwich was nothing more then a very thin chopped steak and the best I can give it is a 2. So , I give the food we ate a rating of 3. The service we had was pretty good earning it a 4, the facility less then average earning it a 2, and the value was better then average earning a 3 when you take in the food rating. So, overall I rated Theo's a 3. Would we go back? If we were in the area we might. Would we travel 30 miles to eat here? No. read more

So here I was in this little town and my friends bring me to this gem of a restaurant! Wow! Color me surprised as the food was wonderful. My Crab Stuffed Alaskan Whitefish was (almost) perfect (the fish was just a little undercooked) but the Peach Pie was perfect and the Peanut Butter Pie was raved about by my friends. Theo's is great, and you can tell by how hard it can be to find a table during the lunch rush. I haven't had anything there that I don't love. The menu is somewhere between a diner and a home-run restaurant, with a few extras (like my favorite, fantastically delicious lamb gyros) thrown in. I like the greek salad and gyros and onion rings, my co-workers love the fish and chips, my dad's fond of the chili dogs. And of course, they have a dozen different varieties of delicious pie. When I was a kid I would visit my grandparents in Cambridge. Theo's was one of my favorite places to visit. Love their pies!

My wife and I visited this place on a recent visit to Hocking Hills. We went in for a late dinner on our drive down. The place was still busy and we had a to wait a bit till they seated us but our order was taken quickly and and the food was brought out very fast. We had a soup and sandwiches, gyro and fish sandwich, french onion and chili. It had to be the best gyro I've ever had and the the chili was a little spicy but it was great. My wife enjoyed her fish but thought the french onion was great. Servicer was a bit forgetful but for the price and quality it can't be beat read more

Two of us had dinner based on a recommendation from a local hotel. Really large restaurant and it was busy, busy. The turnover is fast. Sadly, the meal was a disappointment. I ordered the marinated pork chops with a baked potato. Trust me, the chops had not been marinated. If they had been, they would not have been dry and tasteless. They had been cooked too long which resulted in them also being tough. The baked potato had been cooked in foil, perhaps the day before. The skin was soft and blackish and the potato itself was barely warm. Husband ordered the chef's salad. He said that it was "OK" and would have been helped by lettuce other than iceberg. read more

I like the place. I am seasonal to the region. I never had a bad meal, prices are reasonable, nice staff, nice ambiance and place with the downtown. We visit there 2x per month on average. For an appetizer, get a dog with a $2.00 craft beer bottle special, plus meal and allow for their fantastic deserts. MAKE some time to walk off the meal at the shops in downtown. I was in town for a week attending MOWP at Straker Lake. The food that and service that they provided was outstanding. They were able to feed roughly 34 men for an entire week. When a member of the group had a special request, they were easily able to accommodate their request. The catering personnel, were very friendly and on top of their game. The black raspberry pie is some of the best pie ever. I will be honest, if you are the type of person used to a restaurant with valet, then this place is NOT for you! The decor is comparible to a small sports bar, but not loud. We came to the area for our anniversary, as a Pastor and L.E.O. we just wanted quiet and serene and during January, this town is just that! We came to eat here at the advice of the State Park Lodge, and WOW! Remember it is in a town that relishes being old and dated, and this place is a staple here and been here a long time. We're staying locally in Salt Fork State Park, and we just had an afternoon walking around old downtown Cambridge and eating at Theo's. With nothing in the area to compare to, I'd rate this as an average quality of food and atmosphere. Great food, even better prices. What more is there is to say? I come to Theo's at every chance I can get. I love their spicy chili, the uptown club, and a slice of coconut cream pie. I've been getting those same things for at least the last ten years, and I have yet to be disappointed. My only regret is that I wish I could get there more often. read more
