I went for a 2 week Intensive Myofascial Release, and it changed my life. 4 hours a day I was in treatment and given teaching. The therapists use both standard training and intuition. The man who drove me had to return to our home area after a week. I voluntarily inherited an autistic young man who was in crisis. When I got there, I could minimally use my arms. They would cross in front of my body and lock up. At the end I was able to drive 1,000 miles to home. I still have dystonia, which is abnormal spasms, yet I can work on the muscles and they will release. Before, the fascia was scarred and I couldn't. My head was locked tilted back and stuck. I had a partial small bowel obstruction, and had not eaten in 10 months. From seeing it, I knew where it was. Yet I didn't say anything because there were likely to be other smaller ones. Kathy sat next to the therapy table, closed her eyes, and then reached out to the exact spot! I had a very small 1st meal that evening for the first time in 10 months. I had been waiting and postponing surgery until I was able to go there, because with each surgery it increases your chances of a return. I was also shown how to keep them away. It was expensive, over $8,000. Yet I obtained skills to keep my body mobile. I do PT daily. I have some extremely painful days, but dramatically less than before. I am thankful for each person there. Their idea of therapeutic pain and releasing bound up fascia was sometimes more intense than mine, yet the results were incredible. I would recommend them to anyone who has physical conditions that limit them to be less mobile. Our bodies were made to move! If you are reading this, you are likely in chronic pain or have stiffness or other areas of dysfunction in your body & life. I truly hope my review helps spark curiosity & desire in you to give them a try! Therapy On the Rocks deserves more than 5 stars. Despite a few unfair ratings (take a close look at the 3 one star reviews, highly inaccurate & just angry), this review isn't influenced. As someone with chronic pain, I've tried various treatments without success until I discovered Myofascial Release (MFR). Before MFR, I struggled with pain, stiffness, & anxiety about my future. My condition affected all activities of my daily living at home, work, & everywhere. I had whole body stiffness & lost a lot of range of motion in all of my major joints. After a few MFR sessions locally, I noticed significant improvements, but I needed more. That's when I learned about the MFR "intensives" program in Sedona. During my two-week experience in Feb 2024, therapists Denise, Tisha, Donna, & Rob, along with the caring staff at the front desk (Sean, Shelley, & Kat), provided exceptional care. MFR has been life-changing for me, offering relief & hope when I needed it most. They apply gentle pressure/traction on various parts of the body & hold it for prolonged periods. That's their secret. Regular massage & stretching don't work as effectively as MFR because each position/pressure is brief. After my 2 week session, I noticed various parts of my body being softer, having more range of motion, & less pain with movement, especially in my neck, shoulders, torso and hips. Truly exceptional! I was convinced that the stiff and stuck areas of my body was going to stay that way forever. I was not used to how my body was moving and feeling afterwards and it was scary (google or ask the therapists about "healing crisis"). Now that I'm more than a month out, I deeply appreciate the changes my body experienced since being treated here. My body and symptoms are not perfect, but I am sitting much longer, walking with less of a limp, opening doors/windows without having to brace my core and feeling so weak. I can do dishes w/o dreading it as much. I can hold my toddler and infant longer. I cannot put a price on all this. MFR is expensive but it was well worth the expense. If you can afford it, your body and quality of life are worth it. If MFR was complete bogus, this industry would run out of business in a few weeks. But no, they are busy with clients/patients who are just as happy as I am, & willing to spend $$$ for much needed relief. I just wish I didn't spend literally thousands of dollars in dead end treatment options from my medical doctors, chiro, and accupuncture before accidentally encountering MFR at a random sports massage place. That is what started my healing journey and I have MFR to thank. The two weeks of intensive treatment could have allowed my wife and me to travel to Hawaii (which is our heaven on earth). If I was given a choice to go to hawaii vs. here, I would choose here and get my body improved. I told the same thing to my wife, who is much happier that I am less irritable, stiff, and grumpy at home due to being in less pain and stiffness, especially in the evenings. If you are skeptical, I would highly encourage you to try their less expensive individual therapy sessions first. Do at least 3. Prior to this, try to really feel your body and its symptoms objectively and w/o judging. I learned from personal experience that judging my symptoms worsened my depression and anxiety at my chronic pain & worsening dysfunction. Get very familiar with your body so that you will notice the very subtle shifts and changes in your joints and muscles, even after just 1 session. Continue watching your body and its symptoms after the 2nd & 3rd sessions. Do more individual sessions as needed but if you feel like the "intensives" is worth exploring, your curiosity will be rewarded. Not only did they treat me 3 hours a day, 5 days per week for 2 weeks. They gave me self-treatment techniques and wisdom on how I can interpret my stiffness/pain symptoms. I have a much better attitude about my body's pain/stiffness and limitations, which have improved a lot since my Intensives experience, but still has a ways to go. My mind also improved with less depression & anxiety over my body. My thinking & mood are much better. I am much happier! The therapists here are lecturers at MFR seminars that train thousands of MFR therapists nationwide each year. Therefore they are the highest caliber of MFR treatment one can receive. It is a huge shame that MFR is not more mainstream like chiro & acpucture. It is in a beautiful spot along the creek...that's about the only nice thing I can report. Was not feeling the good vibes and energy that the red rock country can provide. I have been a physical therapist for 17 yrs and was successfully treated for neck pain I had been dealing with for 14 yrs not knowing anything about the treatment. Not only did it heal me, but I now use it on all my patients including those that have seen therapists, doctors, treatments without success. Honestly I had zero knowledge of this type of massage therapy. However after suffering with neck spasms for nearly a week I had been utilizing every avenue of therapy including chiropractic care, dry needling and extensive stretching massage. All helped briefly but I had no permanent relief. Upon finding this establishment I decided to give it a whirl. I had nothing to lose except the pain in my neck. Deb was my therapist and quite honestly even though she was sweet and appeared to be in tune with her profession I left feeling like I had wasted another hour in the hopes of permanent relief. My neck was still sore and I felt a few spasms throughout the day. But as the day went on and I traveled back home to Las Vegas I started noticing that I was feeling a bit better. However, when I woke this morning I was shocked and excited to find that my neck feels nearly 100% better !!! True story people !!! I am going to find the ladies they recommended I contact here in Vegas and get another treatment just to be safe !! And I'm passing this info on to my daughter and anyone else I encounter. I spent 4 weeks doing the intensive for Myofascial Pain Syndrome/ Fibromyalgia. I am very happy with my results in that regard. In those 4 weeks I improved about 20-30% functionally. However, I came in with a concussion from about 3 months prior, and the third week I saw massive gains in post concussion syndrome recovery. I could spend 3-4 hours on a screen and pretty much unlimited time reading for pleasure. However, that Friday the manager Rob hit my head to 'shock the shock.' This set me back volumes. I'm several weeks past completion of the program and am unable to read. I'm missing another month of school to basically lay in a dark room and recover. I suppressed the anger I felt in the moment he hit my head, as I knew he had good intentions, and letting out those emotions is part of the process. However, I don't believe that it's fair to say MFR has never injured anybody. read more

This review is for the John F Barns Myofacial Release Seminars. Each seminar costs approximately $700. I would say it was a complete and total waste of money except for the fact that it taught me to do my research prior to taking continuing education courses. Because of his credentials as a physical therapist, I thought that this would be a physical therapy technique, supported at least by basic science. Instead it was an alternative medicine approach based on his own ideas. For example, he "believes" and that ones thoughts and emotions are embedded in one's fascia ( science tells us this is contained within the nervous system). He also teaches that adult cranial sutures are not fused ( science tells us that they are fused in adulthood). He teaches students to release the iliospoas muscle by stretching the skin on one's abdomen. Science and knowledge of very basic anatomy tells us that the iliospoas muscle is deep and not just beneath the skin in this location. He gives a good sales pitch, but be aware that there is no current evidence supporting his approach. read more

After two sessions my back has improved greatly. And what a beautiful setting.
