Great location & next to Multikulti. I really liked this location. They used TOMs shoes to make a time clock out of them. Clever! Big sale section, difficult to look for sizing though, everything was a size L. Like I said in my Therapy review for the Campbell location, this store is a better version of Urban Outfitters. I was able to find the cutest maxi dress here. Love it! What's cool about this place is unlike the other Therapy stores, they didn't combine their home decor store with their clothing. I come here a lot. It's a great place to shop for last minute b-day gifts, last minute cute outfits and they have an annual 40% off everything in the store sale after x-mas each year. I got a bag I was eyeing for months at the sale. While I would agree that some of the things there look like they would maybe fall apart, you can find quality if you look around a bit. They also carry labels like Ben Sherman etc. And it's priced a little better than other stores around SF. read more

Love this place. Its like a hip urban outfitters. Reasonable prices. good clothes. They don;t over buy one certain styles so you are pretty much guaranteed you won't be wearing the same thing as twenty other people that shop there. Definitely one of my favorite stores in San Francisco. If you're a girl who likes Urban Outfitters-esque clothing but with a less snobbish twist, step right in. The selection of merchandise is as follows: an assortment of adorable, kitschy, or flirty books and trinkets; men's and women's clothing (about 85% women, 15% men); and a smattering of women's shoes, unisex watches, jewelry and accessories. The girls who work here have always been really helpful and sweet as hell. The Mission location has more selection than the North Beach one, or so I do believe... Anyhow. It's a ridiculously cute place, and I adore the feminine, hipster-ish, trendy and interesting finds here. They carry some of the same brands that are carried at Sway (24th street near Castro) and Ambiance. Decent pricing all around, too. read more

I love, love, love this place! If only I didn't live in a city where my rent consumes a third of my paycheck each month I could come here more often! Then again, if I didn't live in said city, it's unlikely there'd be a store like Therapy around the block from my overpriced apartment. Um..catch 22, I guess. Anyway, this place is great. Oh, Therapy. I need to see a shrink after visiting your store because it had my brain spinning for hours. Too many themes/concepts/merchandise and it just doesn't tell a story. That said, I love your taste and passion for fun and fashion. It's just weird to me that the three different branches of your store I've been to in the Bay Area are so strangely different -- I wish I knew what you were going for, but man do I respect your overall goal to cater to a VAST variety of people's random fashion & quirks in such an exceptionally eccentric city. I just wish it wasn't such a random mess... But I still can't resist you. This review is mostly for their exceptional customer experience. I always feel so well taken care of in this store, no matter how busy they are and whether I end up buying anything or not! From casual browsing to dressing room fitting, to purchase pondering time at the cash register, the staff are incredibly warm and helpful. Though some of the pieces are pricey, the staff are great in giving their input without pressuring you to buy. I always feel confident in the purchases I make here, and if not, their exchange-for-store-credit policy is nice because I know I will definitely come back here for future purchases. I have lived in San Francisco for now 5.5 months, however when I first moved to the Bay area I had a full-time job in Marin County, though due to our recession, I was laid-off, and well, I have had time to now venture to the city more often and explore it. As I did on Feb. 20. I accidently ran into the most eccentric store since my move to the area, it was Therapy. It is a quite small boutique in size, yet, large when it comes to the clothes they have available for women and men. Think Gwen Stefani yet a bit of Charlotte (SATC) mixed together, should you prefer to intertwine the two. As soon as I set foot into Therapy I knew I had a found "my store," a place where I could find an outfit regardless of what occassion I was attending, be it a birthday bash, a cocktail party to a wedding. Trust me, you can find everything at Therapy. From cute, trendy hats, scrafs, wallets, purses and God did they have the cutest heels and all at affordable prices!!!! That's the best part of this boutique! Oh and awesome, unique jewerly available too. I must also mention before finishing this review that they also have for their client, a section fully dedicated to those of us that still believe in giving and thus writing cards. Yup, that was all the therapy I needed on Friday to remind me that though I am far away from my hometown of Los Angeles, San Francisco too has boutiques from the one's I used to spend countless hours in L.A. Alas, a girl finds her home away from home. I would highly recommend this boutique to any woman. And I would also suggest making a day out of it with your girlfriends! I would start off by having brunch with mimosas and then strolling to Therapy and finishing off your day, by what else, but shopping at the most eccentric store yet, that I have found in the city. OK, so the Place is hella hip. If you're a hipster college student with loaded parents, go there, it's for you. I think the clothing is extremely cute but having an AA in fashion design I know they definitely aren't worth the prices. I would rather go home and make it myself. However, I love the nick knacks! my boyfriend recently had a birthday and I went there to get a gift bag and a card since I was going to give him a random bag of cute stuff (kinda like a stocking stuffer bag.) I had already purchased stuff to give him but I was sucked in while looking at all the cute stuff that I just HAD to buy him. Unlike the clothing, all the nick knacks where totally affordable. This is sort of the more affordable version of Anthro . . .not really, but very close. Therapy has unique and cool gifts, clothing, and random miscellaneous treasures. I love walking in to browse, not sure what I'll find, and most of it is super affordable. i have great admiration for therapy.. however, this particular location was my first and LAST VISIT. the experience i had here has made it on my most horrible retail experiences list.. i found a bunch of cute pieces that i was going to purchase..but the employees here were so obnoxious and unhelpful (no greet at all), that i decided not to buy anything from this location. i will never, ever come here again.. and i will stick to the therapy in Mountain View. At least the Mountain View staff are very helpful and respectful to their customers. if you can, avoid going to the Valencia location. read more

I HATE shopping for clothes. HATE IT. I feel like nothing ever fits me and I can't put together an outfit for sh!t. And I always end up sweating when I shop, and that's just awkward. I end up with worn out clothing due to my dread of shopping for new stuff. Sooo... the other day I was on Valencia shopping for a gift and headed into Therapy. I ended up wandering into the clothing area because I was also in the market for a dress for the weekend. I was immediately cranky because shopping does that to me and grabbed a few dresses. Someone offered to start a room for me and I used that opportunity to decide it was time to stop shopping and try stuff on. I looked like a treasure troll in the first things I tried on, but felt possibly decent in this coral dress I grabbed. I peeked my head out of the dressing room to get one of the staff's opinions (they seemed nice enough to ask), and a lady staff member came over and suggested a belt. I confessed to her that shopping freaks me out and that I never have any idea what I'm doing when I shop for clothing. At that moment, she grew wings and became my shopping guardian angel. She started picking out dresses for me, belts, brought me shoes, and even brought me a cup of water in the dressing room. She gave me honest opinions on everything I tried on and seemed genuinely interested in choosing the right dresses for my body type. She wasn't pushy at all. She was just SO FREAKIN NICE! Another staff member (who I later learned had only been working there for three days), noticed me trying on dresses and wanted to bring me some suggestions as well. I loved it. I didn't have to keep putting on my clothes and going back to the floor to look for other sizes or styles. The ladies brought me all kinds of choices. If something didn't fit well, they honestly told me so and brought me other sizes. They were wonderful. I walked out of there with not one dress, but five. Oops! Oh, and it wasn't until I was paying that I realized I didn't break a sweat even once while trying on clothes! That's unheard of for me. I officially love Therapy. I love the clothes, and I especially love their helpful, kind staff. This is my new go-to clothing store. read more

Therapy has too much going on for me. They have cute clothes, but nothing that you can't find at 10 other places within a few blocks. And I'm not a huge fan of mixing clothing stores with random junk gift shops. People keep comparing it to Urban Outfitters like that's a good thing, but for me it's bad. I stopped loving Urban about the time I graduated from high school. I'd like to say that my 18 year old sister would love Therapy, but I think even she likes things more toned down now. read more

Came to visit my sister in sf & of course did some shopping . Stopped at this super cute store with stuff that ANYONE would love ! I was looking at the watches at Sydney came up to me asking if she could help. SHE WAS AMAZING ! Such a sweet employee & took time helping me decide which one to get ! I've been going to Therapy for about 4 years now & I have to say that the thrill is gone. I hate junk, so all the novelty items in the front annoy me & remind me of Urban Outfitters but it's a nice place to buy a birthday card, hipster costume jewelry & some mean accessories. Monkeys, aliens, and chandeliers, oh my. I didn't even notice shoes, I was too fixated on the walls, staring at the colorful display of creatures and fun things to spice up my apartment that's had BARE walls for 2 years. Oh hell no- time to fix that! Clocks, colors, and craziness kept me in there way too long, but I escaped only spending $150 ish (this time). This is my kinda store. They have cute trendy shoes, apparel, and bags!!! Not to mention they sell a variety of style and brands. From Betsy Johnson bags to Obey T-shirts... If I were to describe this place in one sentence... it would be "A better and smaller version of Urban Outfitters". You don't get that corporate, chain store feel in here. They sell little knick knacks like "Ugly Dolls" and books. If your A-D-D like me, then this is your kinda store. They have everything! And if you walk next door they have home furniture too! Cool selection of random stuff, but on checkout they ask to see your ID to use credit. Kind of embarrassing to be asked to show ID for a $20 purchase. Rather use Amazon!! Therapy should switch to using the chip for credit card authentication, to avoid fraud and having to ask for ID. read more

Perfect for gifts (for someone else or for yourself!). I can't help but stop in here every time I pass by. They change out their inventory pretty often so there are always new trinkets. The clothes are on the younger side, but I've found nice earrings for my mom and fun gifts for my boyfriend here. It has the vibe of an Anthropologie, but is more local, quirky, unique. As a guy, I've yet to buy any clothes here. The selection is small and--let's face it--overpriced, but all my gal pals always seem to find something of interest in the form of a dress or a cute top or what have you. So usually I end up perusing the knick-knacks and curios, the abundance of which makes Therapy the perfect "oh shit I need a random birthday present for a second-tier friend ASAP! Bacon flavored gum? Fake mustaches? Rosie the Riveter action figure? Sweet!" type place. Also I've noticed that, for an ostensibly "hip" store at the very nexus of hipsterdom (Val & 16th), the staff is incredibly friendly, helpful, and void of attitude or snark. read more
