This is always my first stop when I need some new accessories. They have the coolest assortment of local artist stuff: rings, earrings, clips, etc. I have traveled all around the US, and it is probably one of my faves, as far as the variety. Some of my signature pieces I have purchased from here, including a chunky chain with a big black lucite heart on it. The peeps that work here are always friendly, not pushy at all, and funky- not your usual "cooler than thou" cookie cutter Mission types. I heart Therapy. read more

I've popped into Therapy now a few times over the past six months...the clothing seems to be a bit hit or miss...some really fab find and some sort of frumpy-looking finds. They now sell Nixon watches, and their jewelry/gifts/accessories selection is still solidly consistent. read more

Hi, my name is Lyndsey and I am an addict! I have a fatal addiction to shoes, dresses and earrings. If i come up on some cash, it is gone in a matter of hours. As many hours as it takes for me to get over to therapy that is. So for my addiction I obviously go to therapy! I have vowed to stop using my credit cards in order to continue to go to therapy, so in that sense I may be getting better. It is just so hard when one dress needs a pair of flats to match, and then a pair of ankle boots needs a dress to make a complete couple. A pair of shoes and a dress can not just be alone in this world. I love to play matchmaker with dresses and shoes! The earrings are really just for flare, and I also have an awful habit of losing earrings left and right (usually on long weekend nights they seem to just fall off). So really Therapy makes me feel whole and by the way fall is pretty much here, or always here in the city, but that just means a new addiction may sprout back and that is for coats! read more

I normally like all the Therapy stores go to and I've been to all of them. I have great experiences, except this one time. Over the weekend I went over with one of my gf. I was looking at shoes and found these cute black ones. The first young lady brought it out to me and I tried it on but noticed that there is a scratch on the wedge heel of the shoe and it looked like it was out worn compared to the other shoe. I asked if they had another pair and the young lady said that it was the last one but she could check another store for me. I had no problem with that however another girl came out later and told me that she "found another pair in the back". I looked at it and knew it was the exact same pair of shoes. I was so disappointed that someone would try to lie to me about a pair of shoes. Knowing that they could check other stores and I could pick it up at any location. It really left a bad taste in my mouth, well at least with this location. I hope I won't get another experience like this at any location in the future. The 1 star is really more for the sales girl there but unfortunately I didn't get her name. Also, a company is judged by it's people. I know Therapy hires some great people. I just hope they will hire more honest people in the future. read more

I limped into Therapy on Valencia when my shoe strap had broken loose and would have made my pub crawl night a true crawl. They don't sell shoes but were sweet enough to give me SuperGlue from behind the counter, plus gave me 3 yards of ribbon just in case my strap broke again. This store has the cutest gifts! In particular, they have a lot of California / San Francisco themed gifts. The clothing section is hectic and cramped - it looks like a Marshalls in how disorganized it is, but everything is pretty expensive. I recommend going for the gifts and jewelry section - it's what they do best! read more

Really cool store. A friend and I passed this place while trying to find a parking spot. I see the sign "Therapy" from the street and I'm like Wow...I love that name. That would be perfect for a lounge or club. You know like needing some Therapy of music or drinks or hanging out. The name just totally caught my attention. After we parked my friend was like let's go in this store. Of course me not paying attention I was like sure. She was actually looking for a scarf. They have cool shirts and nice shoes. I wasn't there to purchase anything so looking around was totally cool. They had some cute little jewelry as well. The prices seemed in the area between moderate and a little expensive. Its definitely cute and boutiquey. I noticed some name brand things like BetsyJohnson and HOBO. Cute HOBO wallets :) Neither of us ended up buying anything. A great selection of fun, stylish swag for reasonable prices - there's two Therapy stores next to each other, one part has clothing & accessories and the other has home decor items. I went there last week of Dec and there were having a 40% sale, so ended up getting a bunch of cool wall art & decals. Definitely on top of my list the next time I need new things to spruce up my place! read more

This a cute store..... fun novelties in the front of the store. I do think that many things in this store are overpriced for the quality of the items, but what do you expect from a boutique? Love, love, love, LOVE Therapy. For real. It's technically a pretty "normal" hip place to go in that you can find quirky and up-to-date fashionable dresses/skirts/shorts/tanks/blouses/EVERY OUTFIT PIECE YOU WILL EVER NEED with relative ease and San Francisco appeal, but it's the staff here that really makes a difference. I'd say within 30 seconds of walking in you will be greeted by a staff member and asked in the most non-pushy way ever if you need help finding anything. If you are a normal human being that doesn't make any sort of snarky comment, these girls will go and pick whole outfits out for you. Piece by piece, they'll ask you if you're shopping for something special, any sort of event, what have you, and will cater to you completely. They carry a plethora of brands like Obey, Cheap Monday, Toms, Total USA jeans, Allison, and other "off the beaten path" mainstream lines but ALSO carry local designers as well. Their jewelry selection is off the HOOK! Seriously. Hand made necklaces, rings, bracelets, and head-thingies that I never understood but am jealous of when other girls pull it off so easily, they got 'em. "Alternative" (I hate to use that word, but it applies) books and 'zines, some small and cute home decor, as well as purses, belts, underwear, mugs, picture frames, gloves, wallets, toys, mintssunglassesshoesgreetingcards blah blah blah cute everything. Prices are a taaaad high, but I don't necessarily blame them, it just happens to be the brands they choose to sell, which are marked up straight from the manufacturer--not the seller. Obviously it depends on the brand you're getting and the item, but one could easily spend $250 on an entire outfit which for a lowly barista like me is kinda steep. Then again, that's my choice. They don't make returns which is the only SLIGHT grievance I have since I am a huge impulse shopper and Therapy's cute selection constantly gets me, but they will do store credit. The turn-over rate of the clothes is medium, which I love, because you know that fabulous dress you can't afford this week will probably be there next week waiting for you. Oh, and if the store you go to doesn't have your size, a staff member will happily order it right away to be delivered to the store as soon as possible with no charge and no obligation to buy. I'm not really one for shopping, you know because I'm a millionaire, but I really love this place. I can always go in and hang out for days just looking at colors. WOW. They have great clothes and a small but worth while shoe collection. Last time I went, I got the cutest dress for $9.99(originally priced at $55) because it had a tear in it. I really love Therapy. They aren't the cheapest, but are reasonable priced for buying that special something with a bit of flavor. I get compliments everytime I buy something there. this store is the reason i'm so happy i work where i work. there's all kinds of great finds in the store. my favorite tank is from there - that one piece you can wear even on your fat days! great stuff for girls, guys, and maybe even your pet. absolutely love it. *edit* ok. i have found ONE fault with this store. I stopped in a week or two ago and found this great coat, but slightly too small. The girl put my name down on what i assume is a list of people with the same problem as i had and said she would call me as soon as she got a new shipment in (which would be in about a week). A week goes by and no phone call. I called multiple times with no answer. I stopped in yesterday after work just to check. They had the coat in my size! I was a little put off and ended up not buying the coat after all. For that they lose a star! read more

Therapy, just when I needed you! My feet were soaked on a soppy San Francisco Saturday evening last fall. It was a poor decision on my end to wear slip-on shoes that day. Anyway I was walking down Valencia and I noticed that most of the stores between 16th and 17th lacked power. Oh, but there glowed Therapy in all its glory, cute shoes on display. I entered. Credit card in hand, I was ready to purchase. I was immediately drawn to some charming brown plaid boots. I had to have them. The lady who worked there agreed, and not in the "if you get those shoes, I get commission" sort of way but because she knew they were cute too. It's a girl thing, I guess. She and another worker graciously took the time to find my size in the back. I bought the boots, wore them out of the store, and my mood immediately brightened....therapy, indeed. read more

love this place for really unique jackets and dresses! you really have to get in there and dig a lil bit, since the clothes are hung up on large racks. the prices are all very reasonable at therapy. they have some nice hats and they have a wide variety of indie handbags as well. read more

I always find something to buy at Therapy, and the 40% off after xmas sale ain't too shabby... The people who work here are very nice, and I always have a good experience in the clothing store. The folks who work in their sister furniture store aren't as on the ball, and don't really seem to know what they are talking about -- on more than one occasion I've had clerks tell me different things and completely contradict each other. read more

This is an excellent store; I always, always find something I want to buy, if not five things. If you think it's overpriced, you don't understand retail at all - it's really not much more expensive than a mall store, except that instead of poorly made, boring, same-as-everyone-else-is-wearing mall clothes, someone personally picked out every item of clothing here for its unique balance of wacky cuteness and everyday wearability; that's the advantage of a small shop that knows its audience, but it's not like the boutiques that have five or six key items and a bunch of filler. I walk into the dressing room with sixteen things and I'm excited about each and every one. BUT, even if for some reason I don't like any of them, the staff is never grouchy or hipper-than-thou, always helpful and attentive. So much so that I thought at first that they were on commission, but clearly they're not since no one ever asks who helped me and everyone helps you all at once. Prices were fair to high for the merchandise. A lot of these items are things you can't get at the mall and the fashion is pretty trendy. I liked shopping through their hat section. Their mens clothing options I can imagine them being referred to as "hipster" but eh whatever it is what it is. This is a neat store for guys or girls to visit, and gave off the vibe of a smaller, more sophisticated urban outfitters (because of the home, men, wmns, and books/cards/media stuff). Have been shopping here for years and can always find something unique. It has its ups and downs, but stop in every so often and something funky will pop up. They also have great handbags (unique styles) and a bunch of novelty items that are fun to look at. Cute jewelry . . . I found a beautiful locket there last year. You have to look around . . . there are definitely some overpriced items, but in general I find I'm getting what I pay for..
