There is an acupuncture clinic operated by Dr. Shin near my home, and I had been a regular patient there for several years. Recently, I developed a herniated disc in my neck. Since I have always thought highly of Dr. Shin's medical skills, I was actually happy to call the clinic and make an appointment. However, the manager who answered the phone abruptly refused to schedule an appointment. Instead, she told me that three medical bills from eight months ago had not been paid because the insurance company had refused to cover them, and that I personally had to take care of the entire $360 balance for those three visits. Out of nowhere, they brought up medical bills that were already eight months old and told me that since they had not been paid, I had to resolve the issue before they would even make an appointment for me. I was so shocked and frustrated that I immediately called my insurance company to find out what was going on. The insurance company told me that there was absolutely no record of the clinic ever submitting or requesting payment for these bills. I specifically asked whether Dr. Shin's clinic had ever submitted these claims, and they confirmed that there was no record of any such claims. So I asked the insurance representative to contact Dr. Shin's clinic directly and explain in detail how the billing and claims process works, since apparently the clinic did not understand or know how to properly handle the process. I also asked them to help resolve the case. A few hours later, I called Dr. Shin's clinic to speak with the employee who had handled the matter and explain what the insurance company had told me. But instead of apologizing for their mistake, the employee continued to act as though nothing had happened, trying to brush the whole matter aside with an extremely dismissive and unpleasant attitude. I was honestly at a loss for words. Rather than taking care of the patient's appointment first, the clinic chose to put the entire burden of unpaid medical bills--apparently resulting from their own negligence and failure to properly handle the claims--on the patient, without making even the slightest effort to resolve the issue themselves. This kind of rude and irresponsible treatment has unfortunately made me decide that I will never return to Dr. Shin's clinic again. Dr. Shin, your medical skills are important, but the way your staff treats patients and the level of courtesy and customer service they provide are just as important. I sincerely hope you will pay more attention to this aspect of your practice as well.

At one point, I was unable to sleep at all. I was extremely averse to medication and initially refused any treatment. I found Dr. Chen and began acupuncture. I still wasn't sleeping, but after a few sessions, Dr. Chen gently advised me that I should consider taking medication. Because I trusted him, I listened. I took a short course of medication, and eventually I went back to sleeping like a baby. Dr. Chen was there throughout my entire period of suffering and healing, and I credit his expertise in acupuncture as an important part of my recovery. Before finding Dr. Chen, I had seen another acupuncturist who did absolutely nothing for me. The office was the definition of "Zen"--water sounds, beautiful scents, peaceful surroundings--and it cost a whole lot of money. And yet I was awake the entire time. Dr. Chen's office is the complete opposite. It is very no-frills, with bright lights and phones ringing. And somehow, every single time the needles are in, my body lets go. I enter what feels like a deep parasympathetic state and actually fall asleep or nap. Every. Single. Time. That, to me, says everything. You don't need a perfectly designed environment to relax when you are in the hands of someone whose expertise allows your body to feel safe. I tired compression braces, aleve, Icy hots, Solonpas patch's, yoga rollers, exercises and I kept re-injuring my lower back (3rd time). When I made my first visit I was on my 7th day of recovery and was not able to stand straight without a compression brace. Lower back was completely loosened after visit. 2nd visit I was able to move with full motion, no back brace. I stand all day and do mfg work so I highly recommend this place if you need to recover fast. Price was very affordable, since I spent about $125 at target for all the braces and medication. I always had eczema growing up but very small patches that would come and go. But not until I got sick I went to Kaiser and they gave me some antibiotics and I was taking them almost every month for 3 months and then I started to get eczema all over my upper body. So I went to countless of dermatologist at Kaiser and 2 holistic doctors but of course Kaiser kept prescribing the same thing. Which was steroids whether it was pills or creams. I even took two to three shots of a biologic called adbry. I had it all over my chest to my arms and even my ears and scalp it was painful and oozing all the time I didn't know what to do to stop the oozing. I also had it on my face. I would not be able to shower every day and if I did it had to be quick and I needed help washing my hair. They took care of me a lot here I vouched 100% for the herbal medicine and their care.
