Reviews for tailors near me seem middling at best, so I went out of my way to this place, because these at least seemed somewhat promising. Boy was I wrong. I brought a pair of new suit pants in a week ago that I needed altered for an upcoming event. When I arrived, two employees were vacuuming the rear of the store, so I did as a sign said & went into the dressing room to put on the pants & ready them for measurement. When I had them on, I went out & somehow startled the woman behind the counter, who apparently didn't see me enter, so I explained I just did what the sign said & that was that. I told her I wanted the pants to have the traditional cuff. I said this twice. My request appears on the receipt. I went back this morning to collect them. Found they were hemmed, but not cuffed. What the hell? Do they not know what "cuffed" means? Do they just do whatever the fuck they want here? What good is a quick turnaround time if they don't do what you ask them to do? First & last time I'll be at this place. So disappointing.

I had a bridesmaid dress altered here about a week before I needed it for a wedding. Everyone I interacted with was very kind and accommodating. The woman who had me try on the dress to mark for adjustments asked lots of great questions and asked my preference for length while showing me both options in the mirror. The dress was done ahead of schedule and came out perfect. They even steamed it so I wouldn't have to the day of the event. I thought the price for work was fair - especially for such a quick turn around. I will definitely be coming back for future tailoring. Thanks again!

Original seam repaired exactly on factory holes with a reinforcement seam halfway across the factory seam allowance. No more tears.

First of all, I would like to say that I do not understand the volume of 1-star reviews on Yelp. Let that be your takeaway off the bat. I was in a rush to get a custom outfit altered within a week and I was worried that it would take up to 3 weeks at other tailors being a specialty item. I had also recently got in some secondhand vintage garments that needed several types of repairs. I explained what I was looking to have done with the lot of 5 and I believe I got my money's worth for $130. I called a few business days after dropping them off to see if I could change the pickup day ahead 1 day, even if I would be charged--it was already done. All the repairs and alterations were done with professional blind stitches on the hems and the repairs made all the garments look factory. I had a pair of vintage Levi's that had a back tab that was intact but the stitching was coming undone; Theresa's was able to match the color of the thread to mend it + double stitch the seam allowance so it doesn't fold and tear any more. I would recommend anyone taking your old jeans there and explaining that you want it on the original seam repaired and/or reinforced, you won't regret it. If you know exactly what you want and have basic knowledge about garment construction terminology and fit, I would recommend trying Theresa's out. Many other tailors will attach bogus fees for higher end, specialty, and quick turnaround garments.

I am a Byzantine Catholic Deacon in the Ann Arbor, MI area. I have a riassa (cassock) that had sleeves with lining. The lining tore numerous times. I have had it repaired a few times in Michigan. I have not had time to look into having the riassa repaired professionally. I searched on Google for a seamstress in the Erlanger area. I found Theresa's Alterations through searching Google. I am extremely grateful to Theresa that I found her business. I took my riassa to Theresa's and asked if she could repair the lining of the sleeves. Theresa wasn't sure because I had torn part of the lining out of the riassa. I asked Theresa if I could drop it off Thursday morning & pick it up Friday morning. I told Theresa I was going to a liturgical service in Indianapolis. I wanted to get on the road by 3 or 3:30 pm. Theresa said she could complete the work before I left for Indy. Theresa called me within a couple of hours & told me that the work was completed. I was amazed at the quality of the work Theresa did. The riassa looked like new when I received it from Russia. I called Theresa on my way to Indianapolis to let her know that I would tell my priest friend, Fr. Niby that if he or any parishioners of Mary Queen of Heaven should take any of their garments in need of repair/mending to take them to Theresa!!! I am so grateful that I found Theresa's store & had the opportunity to meet her. Theresa is a blessing to me I will never forget as long as I wear my riassa. All the Best to Theresa & her family! Was not impressed. Walked in with a bridesmaid dress that needed about an inch taken off the bottom. The lady at the front desk was not friendly. Asked "what do you need done" no smile or anything resembling kindness. Told me it would cost $75 to take an inch off the bottom of the dress which is super overpriced! (Found another place that made the alterations for $30)Decided not to go through with the alterations at this location and I am confused by the other positive reviews. read more

Took my $300 bridesmaid dress in to be altered for my sister's wedding. The only thing that needed to get done was to have it shortened/hemmed as the dress was extremely long. This place was recommended by another tailor in the area. She took appropriate measurements on the day of the fitting, however, was putting safety pins in the expensive tulle to hold it up which I found inappropriate. When I went to pick up the dress the lining was cut 2.5" shorter than the tulle, which was 3.5" from the floor with my heels on. I tried to explain that it was cut inappropriately and instead of coming clean that they had f*cked up, she kept insisting that all linings are suppose to be 2-3" shorter than than the tulle. She clearly didn't even realize there was a problem. When I asked for my money back, as at this point there was nothing else to be done to the dress, she said she'd give me a $20 refund. I paid $85 for my dress to be hemmed. She swore that they charge a hem for every layer, so in reality she felt like she was giving me a discount as the dress was 4 layers and she would've charged me $100. Either way, in my opinion, if you can't even do a hem you are NOT a true seamstress/tailor. Do NOT go here! Bad business model. Bad customer service. Bad tailoring. read more

DO NOT GO HERE!!! Please do not go here. I had several issues with Theresa and my wedding dress. She asked me to get material to make the straps and the corset string (mine was a used dress so it was missing) so I asked to take the dress with me to make sure it was the same color and she complained that I shouldn't need it (my wedding dress is champagne). This should have been the first hint. But I went and got fabric and brought it back. Three weeks later she calls and said shes going to start on the stress but didn't understand the fabric I bought. I explained the tule was for the straps and satin for the corset. She told me I didn't buy enough and told me to buy more! I refused and told her I shouldn't even been buying it in the first place, she should do that and I bought MORE than what she originally asked me to buy. She hung up and called back 5 minutes later and we argued about whether or not my dress had a corset SHOCKER! it DOES! She said since there was a zipper it had no corset (corset was UNDER THE ZIPPER INSIDE THE DRESS) Someone who alters dresses should know to undo the zipper. Then she called a week later saying it was completed. I went to pick it up and her assistant noticed the strap was jacked up and told Theresa it was wrong. Theresa refused and said it was because it was "bunched" but clearly it was different than the other strap. I finally paid and just took my dress because I was afraid she'd f-up my dress more if I asked her (rather, forced her, to fix it). I ended up having to go to a friend of a friends to have it fixed. DO NOT GO HERE!!!!!!!!! read more

We took a prom dress in to be hemmed the day after my daughter was asked to the dance - it was ten days before the event. My daughter mentioned being scolded during the alteration process because she "waited too long". It ended being pricey and we were treated like we were a giant inconvenience. I'll find someone else next time - they've lost my business. read more

Meet the Business Owner: Theresa V.

I grew up in a small town in South Vietnam, where I discovered my love for sewing at a young age. By middle school, I was attending a special sewing program and practicing daily with my teachers and classmates. Even through the challenges of the Vietnam War, I worked hard, paid attention to every detail, and built a strong foundation in my craft. My family moved to Northern Kentucky in 1984, and I’ve lived here ever since. For many years, I worked as a tailor in shops across Cincinnati, learning what real people needed from their clothes. In 2015, I finally opened Theresa’s Alterations, a dream I carried since childhood. With over 30 years of experience, I’m committed to making every piece fit beautifully. The right fit matters — and everyone deserves to feel confident in what they wear.

So every bride has some drama on their wedding day right ? Here is my bride drama story I put my wedding dress on about 2:30 pm and then we were going to take pictures at our house with "the boys" My sister started to zip it up for me in the back and the zipper broke She and the makeup artist tried and tried to find a way to fix it with no avail! I immediately started crying and then realized I had to pull it together and come up with a solution I called Theresa's Alterations told her what had happened and she said "if you can come immediately I will see if I can fix it ." My sister drove me up there and Theresa had to cut me out of my dress! She had to put a new zipper in the dress and she did it in 11 minutes!!! She was amazing! She stayed calm because she knew how upset I was. After I called she dropped what she was doing, got the thread in the machine, got the zipper out and ready so when I arrived she could move quickly! To top it off she refused to let us pay her! Disaster averted! Back home and off to the church Thank you Theresa you the best!! read more

This review, although later than I intended it to be, is nonetheless just as important as if I received service today. Theresa and her beautiful daughter Silvia are quite an exceptional team. I am a seasoned patron doing business here and have never been disappointed in the quality of the work on the many materials I've brought in. Transformed from baggy to fit and fully tailored. A keen eye and communication go hand in hand here. Have questions? Ask. Honest and personable you will not find a better fit than this long time family run business. Theresa and Silvia "listen". I was discussing my Mom's wedding dress from long ago and to my crying surprise they both introduced a gracious solution for me, I'll never forget it, it is now fully displayed to see every day. I had an old jean jacket that was over 40 years old that had many seams ripped out. My Dad bought me the jacket that was very well made and had nice material. I did not want to throw it away as they do not make a jacket like it anymore. I took it to Theresa, and she repaired it. I now have a very nice jean jacket. I had gone to this shop as I had heard that Theresa does good work. She did not disappoint me. I received professional service, and I was met with a smile each time I came. We have a four-poster bed that made it very difficult to use our queen size bed spread on it. We would have to jam the bed spread in around the corners at the bottom of the bed. We asked Theresa if she would cut and stitch a seam that would allow the bed spread to fit around the two posts. She said she would if we marked where and how high we wanted it cut. The price she quoted us was reasonable. We brought it back to her marked exactly where we wanted it cut. Two days later we got a call that it was ready. I ordered my usual size for a company coat but it was cut differently and was too snug. It was embroidered with the company logo and I could not return the coat. I took it to Theresa's Alterations with little hope that anything could be done. Because I rarely used a hood, Theresa was able to remove the hood and use the fabric to increase the gusset. It fits PERFECT and you cannot tell inside or outside what was done to the coat. Theresa was even able to include the drawstring in the bottom hem. I am THRILLED with the result. Theresa came to our rescue. On my sister's wedding day as she was putting on her dress, the zipper separated. It was 3 PM on a Friday. We called Theresa's and she was available. She dropped everything, we drove to her shop and she replaced the zipper. We were there less than 30 minutes. She said she timed herself and it took her 11 minutes! She did not charge us for the repair. She and her husband were so kind! They are amazing. She is very skilled and will make any alteration you need look perfect! read more

This lovely place is just around the corner from my home. I called to have my wedding dress altered and I was fully prepared for them to tell me that I waited too long and that they cannot help me. I was very wrong. They were so polite and kind to me. My dress is gorgeous and fits perfectly. I could not be any happier with this place. Also the price was incredibly fair. Theresa's Alterations were able to save a prom dress that had been altered somewhere else and resulted very uneven with a poor hem. There were areas that were too short and too long.
