It's rare to see a 5 star business receive a low rating review like this, but unfortunately I had an incredibly disappointing experience, which I feel compelled to share with other homeowners to prevent anyone else from falling victim to their unprofessional behavior and lack of accountability. One of our large casement windows was factory damaged and no one noticed till it started to fog up over the past year. I requested a replacement as it was well within the 20 year warranty period. They asked for picture proof and I provided. I had to keep following up for 2 months because they couldn't provide a timeline for installation. When we finally aligned on a date they notified me within 1 hour of the appointment that they can't come because they had a situation. It's okay, things come up but you're suppose to provide a solution with next steps and not keep your clients waiting for an answer. What's truly disappointing is how Ken handled the situation. No one came to supervise the installation so that is a mistake on their part. Instead of acknowledging their workers' errors, they pointed fingers at me, accusing me of tampering with the frame & caulk. Mind you, none of my windows have caulk between the glass and frame. I'm so confused where that came from. I had photographic proof of the window's condition before and after installation, as well as security camera footage of their technicians using boxcutter and hammer to remove the frame (which I assume is what caused the damage). As a homeowner who had placed trust in American Windows Plus expertise, I was shocked by their lack of integrity and commitment to quality workmanship. A company that truly values its customers would have promptly addressed the issue, taken accountability for their errors, and worked towards a solution. Instead, they chose to evade responsibility and, quite frankly, tarnished their own reputation. Now, I have to live with the unsightly scars of their negligence - visible scratches and awkward caulk on the exterior window frame. Despite providing all the evidence necessary to prove their mistakes, Ken continued to deny their wrongdoing and refused to provide any solution or replacement. I share my experience here not only to vent my frustration but also to warn potential customers about the unethical practices of American Windows Plus. I believe it's essential for homeowners to make informed decisions when choosing service providers for their homes. It's clear that they prioritize their own interests over customer satisfaction and quality service.

For the millwork I purchased interior doors, mouldings, wainscot, fiberglass columns, and exterior, Azek and fir for facia, soffit material etc.. Once the framing was complete, Mike came out to the house before the quote to measure everything and make sure the 2 dozen doors had the correct opening orientation and size. We went over many molding profiles and door styles. The price was very competitive and it was an easy decision. Once we got started, Mike was always quick to respond and when I needed a few add on pieces the truck was there for delivery to keep my schedule on track. I wish all of my suppliers were as good! I had found the b"s* company on Thumbtack and had credible website with affordable rates. SCAM!!!! Upon hiring them for a renovation for my workspace, the "office manager" demand for the job's $100 initial supply costs in cash and trampled into my workplace...and then proceeds to try to back out 2 hours before starting the job. Should have been a red flag when that happened but I had already closed my office hours for this renovation so I pleaded and gave them 1/3 the job in CASH!!!. They conceded and requested working late nights into wee hours of the morning saying this is how they worked. Fast forward, cigarettes strewn the back patio, signs of beer cans in the trash, demolished an entire box of subway tiles I had so arduously sourced and picked up from 3 Home Depot stores over the weekend, thin set splatters as big as watermelon to scrap up, paint splatters all over my products and shoes, sand dust all over the entry way as they dumbly did not enclose the area.. all worth hundreds in loss. And as a result or dejavu, the entire bathroom they worked on had to redone by another contractor, the "leveling of floors" that they attempted to do has to be all ripped up and re-leveled, and pools of uneven polyurethane needs to be resanded.. even the painting job they botched with no edges treated.. a kindergardener could have done a better job! The entire job is a redo! Moral of the story? Do your homework before using any handyman and contractors, even in a crunch! This company needs to be banned and will be reported to BBB.
