Bee’s Arts and Craft Studio - Slime and crafting birthday celebration.

We attended a birthday party at Bee's Arts and Crafts Studio in Yonkers this afternoon. At this…read moreparty, there were three young "party hosts" who, it seems, had no customer service/party host training whatsoever and it ruined the experience. For the first 40 minutes of a two-hour party only one of the party-hosts painted children's hands and faces. The choices given (in January) consisted of spiders, jack-o-lanterns, ghosts, and a few other rather sad options. If you do not have someone skilled to do face painting - in my opinion - you shouldn't offer it at the party. Honestly, I'm not sure what the two other girls were doing during the 40 minutes, but they most certainly were not entertaining the children. The birthday girls' mother came over and apologized to her guests three times for the delay, saying they would begin "shortly". The painting portion of the party was fine. They were out of brown paint and were only able to offer a tan color option when a child needed brown. I helped clean up two water spills after they were sitting there ignored by the party-hosts for too long. Water cups got quite dirty and were never refreshed for the children and napkins were scarce. However, the children all had a lot of fun painting and were very happy and engaged. One of the party hosts tried to organize hot-potato and freeze dance with the children while the other party hosts cleaned up the tables from painting. The party host was not enthusiastic, fun, or engaging. The children did not enjoy this portion of the party. As parents, we were stressed that our child might knock something off a shelf or bang into another child and get hurt - the space was too small for this kind of activity, especially because it was not run very well. Now this is the part that upset me the most... My child and the birthday child spent significantly longer than the other children painting their plaster pieces. They put so much time and effort into their artwork and were extremely proud of the results. My little boy used every color available to him, knew exactly where in his room he wanted to display it, and couldn't wait to get home to show his Nana. When it was time to leave, my child's artwork was lost. I approached the three party hosts with his empty bag and asked them where they had put his finished work to dry - it was not on the cart with all the other children's work. They shrugged and said "I don't know". They couldn't care less that it was missing. I asked them to please help me look and find it - as I was walking around looking for it, I heard them snickering in the corner saying "it's gone". As I walked over to them I heard them saying "You tell her. No, you tell her." I then asked them to tell my son they lost his work, as I knew how upset he was going to be, and they literally laughed in my face and said "no way". I asked for a replacement to bring home being they were responsible for losing his artwork and I was told "the birthday party included the one he painted, not a second one". Of course, when the birthday girls' mom heard what was going on she offered to pay for another one for my little boy to bring home - that was not the point or the resolution I was looking for. In the end, my little boy's artwork was not found, I was told I "had to leave" because they had another party coming in, and I left with a new plaster piece (but no paint to paint it with, no way to seal it, and I'm not even sure if the birthday girls' mom ended up paying for it anyway). I remember being a young girl working in a bakery and in childcare at a pool club. I was taught at both jobs that the most important things were to be respectful and to ensure the customer was happy. Is that not a thing anymore? These three "party-hosts" lost my child's artwork, were rude and disrespectful to me in regard to the situation and made no attempt to rectify their mistake.

As well as tap into their creativity. The hostess were great with the children and they kept them engaged in the two activities we chose for them. The standard party package last about two hours. In that time the kids made slime, painted, did the limbo, played freeze dance. The party package comes with pizza and juice for the kids. However, you can bring in extra food for a $50 up charge. Pros of this business. We didn't have to do much prepping, the kids had an awesome time, the hostesses worked very well with the children, this place looks clean and neat. Cons it's difficult to get anyone on the phone, no one called to confirm are party, when the first guest arrived they were told the party wasn't for today ( there was a mistake in scheduling). Although they were still about to accommodate us that made this experience a bit stressful. We were unable to book more time 2 hours went by pretty quickly. I would recommend this establishment because overall it was a good experience and the children had a blast.

We booked a premium, full-service package for a team-building afternoon, but instead of relaxing, my team spent the entire time stressing, moving boxes, and cleaning up after the staff we hired. We aren't trying to be difficult clients; we simply wanted the service we paid for. Instead, we faced a massive burden: The setup was chaotic and late: For a group our size, the policy is a 40-80 minute setup window. The facilitator didn't show up until 1:33 PM for a 2:00 PM start. Her assistant didn't arrive until after the event started. We were left watching the clock, wondering if our event was even going to happen. We had to manage their logistics: The assistant arrived late and without ID. Since we are in a secure office building, she couldn't get in. Instead of the vendor handling this, my team had to stop what they were doing, leave the event space, and go down to the lobby to retrieve her and haul up the supplies she was carrying. Dismissive attitude: Mistakes happen, but the facilitator's attitude made it worse. She was dismissive about being late and shockingly unhelpful regarding her own assistant's supplies. At one point, when asked about the materials her assistant brought, she refused to help, telling us she "couldn't hang onto that." It felt like we were imposing on her, rather than the other way around. My team did the physical labor: Because they were so behind, the setup wasn't done until 2:30 PM--30 minutes into our paid time. To save the event, my colleagues and I had to step in and physically unpack boxes, set up stations, and distribute materials. We paid for a full-service event but ended up doing the heavy lifting ourselves. Contract issues: We paid extra for the "all new supplies" option so our team could keep their materials. Despite this, the facilitator packed up and took many of the paints and brushes back with her. They walked out on the mess: Despite the event starting late due to their tardiness, the facilitator refused to stay a minute past 4:00 PM. She started aggressively cleaning up while people were still painting, then bolted out the door right at 4:00, leaving us to finish the cleanup and break down the boxes. I cannot recommend this vendor. We paid for a fun, stress-free afternoon and instead received a chaotic experience where we had to work as the setup and cleanup crew.
