Cool shop, one of the bigger ones you'll find for gifts on Elmwood. They had a good selection of mostly Buffalo themed items. I spent some extra time browsing glassware and they actually had some very cool (but expensive) items. This was also the only shop I've seen on Elmwood with a section dedicated to just baby apparel. This wasn't super useful for me now, but is helpful to keep in mind for the future I suppose Aside from glassware they had interesting custom looking Buffalo items like posters, socks, ties with chicken wings on them, and lots more. Definitely worth your time to stop in.

    Is beautiful inside!!!

After being an Elmwood Village residence for a year or so, I finally stopped in to check this shop out, man I was not disappointing. I love all the small sections throughout the store. Everything in there form the shirts, to the stationary cards, to the jewelry and candles, etc. are all locally made, which I am a huge fan off. I especially like the homemade candles in the recycled beer bottles, they smelled amazing. I saw a few stationary cards i wanted to purchase, but decided not to, i'll return to make a purchase in the future.

I love thin ice!!! What a great shop.... so many ideas of all kinds for gifts for EVERYONE on your list.

Thin Ice has the best unusual gifts in Buffalo. It is impressive, the large group of local artists, all different mediums. I could spend all day finding the perfect gift... so many choice so little time. Therese is there, in case you need some advise. So if you are looking for something that is not what you see every where else, run do not walk to Thin Ice.......

This was my first experience putting in an order and it was for my wedding. It was a small wedding of only 30 guests and I only needed 2 bouquets--1 large one for me (the bride), and 1 smaller bouquet for my matron of honor. What I wanted was very simple and I didn't have any particulars other than I wanted 2 bouquets, mostly white flowers with small touches of blue flowers but they had creative control to assemble them with whatever flowers as long as they were white and blue. When I placed the order (in-person) I spoke to the staff at the counter and described what I wanted which she confirmed was possible. The staff person repeated my request and even used her hands to show me the size difference and the cost, which I sounded great and exactly what I wanted, I paid and left. When my friend picked up the order for me, she was not aware of what I asked for but later told me that she felt like something was wrong and was surprised when she saw the bouquets because she could not visibly tell which was the larger bouquet for me, the bride. When I saw the bouquets upon delivery on my wedding day, I was EXTREMELY disappointed. The flowers chosen were the fine and they were in the colors I wanted (again I did not care which specific flowers) but I was completed surprised that the bouquets were the SAME SIZE. There was visible no size difference and it certainly was not the size that the staff person assured me they would be, if not I would have paid more to ensure that my bouquet was visibly larger than the second bouquet. I had to improvise and COMBINED both bouquets, leaving my Matron of Honor with no bouquet to walk down the aisle with, in order to have my bridal bouquet. I was disappointed and it was noticeable in the photos that these bouquets really 2 combined into one. I don't know where the ball was dropped because I placed the order in person to ensure that the types of the bouquets were clear and I also did not ask for much other than 1 large bouquet and 1 small bouquet, any white and blue flowers but this was a huge disappointment and I felt taken advantage of.

I wanted to send a really nice bouquet of flowers to my grandmother for her 90th birthday today. I…read morelive in New York City and went online to find the closest florist to her home. Graser's had good reviews, was in Amherst and had a nice fall assortment of flowers online so I chose them. I ordered the 'blossoms in vogue' bouquet and vase for her. The picture claimed to be the standard size. It was stunning but I wanted them to be extra special so I ordered the deluxe version of this arrangement. When my aunt sent me a photo of the flowers once they arrived I was appalled... Carnations substituted for roses and the entire bouquet was honestly a fraction of the size shown online! And this was the deluxe! I called the store to speak with them and politely explained I was extremely disappointed. The woman told me they go by a 'recipe' for their arrangements and since they didn't have pink roses they included 5 carnations. She offered to pick up the flowers from my grandmother, remove the carnations and add 3 pink roses although it couldn't be done until tomorrow. I'm not going to confuse my 90 year old grandmother like that... And it still does not make up for the fact that what I received wasn't anything like they advertised online. Maybe it's better to buy direct from inside the store so you see exactly what you're getting. I am extremely embarrassed of the flowers that were delivered and will never be ordering from here again. Should have stuck with Wegman's flower department!

It's Valentines Day and I really don't want to say what I have to say. However, I am going to take…read morethe advice of the owner of Graser's florist who said "Well, you may not want to say it, but just say it. I have other stuff to do." So here are my issues . . . in writing. I ordered online the deluxe Teleflora's Sapphire Skies Bouquet. This bouquet (after fees) cost $107.50. I have uploaded the picture I saw online. What was delivered to my boyfriend today . . . well, just see the other photo. 1.) The arrangement is much smaller than in the picture. The owner stated that the lilies were not in full bloom and that it would look much fuller after they opened (which is a very fair point). However, the online picture has (by my count) 8 long-stem white roses. The bouquet my boyfriend received had 4. 2.) The color contrast is significant. As with all florists, I understand that some substitution is necessary (maybe a flower is not in season or just subpar). However, why would you substitute pink/fuchsia flowers for purple/blue flowers. The owner's response "They probably didn't realize this was going to a guy." Uh . . . my boyfriend likes pink just fine, the issue is . . . in the love note I wrote (connected to the bouquet) I mention purple/blue flowers . . . and there aren't any. 3.) Under special instructions, I advised that my boyfriend is working 1PM - 9PM today, and I requested the flowers be delivered somewhere within that time frame. There is something to be said for surprise and a stranger calling your name out of a group of coworkers unexpectedly. The bouquet was delivered in the morning and just left on his desk. 4.) When I went to register a complaint at Graser's florist on Amherst St., they said I would have to talk to the owner. I drove to the Graser's florist in Kenmore (the Delaware location) to speak with her directly. She gave me the recipe for the bouquet (a recipe not posted online, I might add). It apparently should contain: 2 stems of white lilies, 4 stems roses (white), 3 stems white spray roses, 2 stems mini-white carnations, 1 stem purple statice (this was substituted by the pink/fuchsia flower). She advised that I check the recipe. The truth is . . . I don't care about a recipe. I just want what I saw online and thought I was ordering. If something doesn't taste good or doesn't look right at a restaurant, then I really don't care what's in it or how it was made (I just don't want it). In defense of Graser's florist, the bouquet was "technically" correct and within their substitution policy. But I won't trust them anymore when ordering flowers because at the end of the day, it wasn't what I wanted for the love of my life. From now on, I will pay for what I can see. This may be a one time occurrence and many people have had positive things to say about Graser's florist. Please do not discount this. On the other hand, I leave it to the public to decide. Which picture would you want? Which one is worth over $100? Is the quality and value between these two bouquets equal? ~Seth
