Third Coast Hot Dogs is a side hustle for a motorcycle repair shop and a cyclist hangout. It joins Portland multi-businesses which serve drinks along with their main business. A favorite a while back was a thrift clothing shop with a bar in NoPo. They have their signature dog toppings, beer, and mixed drinks which can be made without alcohol. Hot dogs, the humble tube steak, rest on the horns of the dilemma. They are not that healthy but they use the whole animal. Sonoran hot dogs came across my radar a few years back, so sometimes I seek out new dogs. Third Coast is a hard-working one person machine. Sage takes the orders, pours the drinks, puts cross-hatch marks with a mold, grills them on an electric grill, toasts the buns, and assembles with toppings. Order at the bar, bring cash, listen for order up, self buss. We had the San Anto and the Amarillos. I think the Amarillos was more successful with the sweetness of the BBQ sauce. There is plenty of seating, and plenty of street parking. They can do vegan and gluten free. read more

If you like motorcycles and hotdogs, you may have found your new favorite spot! An actual motorcycle repair shop with a bar that serves wildly topped hotdogs. I think we came a little late in the day on a Sunday and the bartender did not seem thrilled to have to make hot dogs. The space is open with high top stools and picnic tables, not super comfortable. Confused why all toppings and buns need to be vegan when real meat hot dogs are offered? I love bacon - vegan bacon is a disgusting, highly-overprocessed mess...I prefer mine to be naturally growed from real swine. Is it THAT difficult to offer real bacon and cheese in addition to the vegan selections? Especially for a hot dog hovering around $10!! Just bizarre and frankly (no pun intended), annoying as a customer who was not aware of this before driving over to try it out. Additionally, it's so confusing. Is it a motorcycle repair garage? Saloon? Hot dog stand? Are they ever open? The first time I tried to go, I drove away because it looked as if my directions had mistakenly led me to a dingy, run down garage. Overall, not recommended, none in our party care to return. If they're so vegan conscious, maybe just focus on that so us legit carnivores don't waste our time with a sad dog in a vegan bun with unappealing toppings. Sage What a gem Vibe was dope, ambiance was relaxing, very clean, garage doors rolled up and perfect breeze when we sat at the bar. Service was top tier, Sage recommended the mole hot dog (his favorite) and it was mine as well. My friend and I got 4 glizzys and he kindly cut them in half for us so we could each try them all! Smooth ordering, maybe 10 minutes for our food, drinks were really good as well. I recommend this place to anyone and everyone, I definitely want to work my way through the menu. I believe Sage had said if you can eat 6 dogs, all different and of his choosing, in one hour you get a free shirt. I've been wanting to go here ever since I saw them on a Tik Tok video. Located inside a motorcycle repair shop, this place had quite the laid back vibe with super nice bartender/chef, rocking music, and plenty of seating inside it out in the parking lot. They have both vegan and beef hot dogs and so many cool options. On top of that, you can get mixed drinks in which you can add no alcohol or add alcohol allowing you to choose cheap to top shelf alcohol. This themed bar and gourmet hot dog bar is of course motorcycle themed. Parking is really just street parking but I had no issues finding nearby parking. I got a hot dog and NA drink and both were so delicious. The hot dog bun was lightly toasted giving that little perfect crunch. The hot dog was plump and juicy and honestly one of the best I've had. I love this place! The hot dogs combos are awesome! Be advised, Sage doesn't take any s***. If you're a princess this is not for you. It's all Texas themed and the bike shop gives a fun vibe. You stand in line to order, your number is called for pickup or you get table delivery depending on how busy they are. Sage is a dope guy that loves what he does. These hot dogs are some of the best dogs I've had in such a long time. It's the fact that I can get a good gluten free bun too without any worry that I am going to get sick after. There's also vegan options as well. The fact that this place is self ran is out standing to me and I'm so happy it's getting the love it's always deserved with the new hype around the place. I'm not a huge hotdog person so I wasn't really excited to try this place that my friends were raving about but boy was my mind changed! I just got a plane hot dog, gluten free tortillas instead of a bun (I know :( but I'm allergic not just gf for the notoriety of it) just to see what it tasted like so I could know which one of the amazing specials to go with next time. I also love that they have dairy free and vegan options!! The hot dog is scored to perfection and honestly was delicious without any of the toppings so I imagine it can only go up from there!! This is a bike shop that stumbled into having a completely badass bar/hot dog stand. Love everything about this place. This is what a small business is all about. My husband and I were really looking forward to trying this place. I'm originally from Texas and proud of it, so when I saw the Texas theme, I was excited to support what I thought was a business that shared those values--hard work, hospitality, and pride in what you do. Unfortunately, that's not what we got. I don't know if the guy behind the bar was the owner or just an employee, but either way, his attitude was completely unacceptable. I asked a couple of polite questions about the menu--nothing out of line--and he acted like I was a nuisance. Gave me a short, irritated answer, then turned and mumbled something under his breath as he walked away. Real professional. If you're going to be in the service industry, the bare minimum is treating customers with respect. It's not that complicated--be decent, be helpful. Instead, this guy acted like a sulky teenage girl with an attitude problem. We lost our appetite and walked out. Disappointing, especially from a place claiming Texas pride. Hot dog was "fine" but truly nothing special. They cook them on a Ninja electric grill, don't expect true grilled flavor. Bun was fine but also nothing special. Toppings are unique, the one I had was fine but nothing special. For the money, it should be way better. It's expensive. Not on the top 5 hot dogs I've had in Portland. The vibe here is weird, while sometimes it's called "Third Coast Hot Dogs" when I got there it was at the front of a what appears to be a large shop where they might work on motorcycles, and it was called "Grey Horse Saloon" (get it? Grey Horse? Motorcycles? So brilliant). There are signs up everywhere with weird kitsch that seems straight out of some hipster faux-biker bar that belongs in Austin TX where tech bros can feel like they are being edgy. The guys working there were not very friendly and seemed like they trying a bit too hard to lean into their fantasy identity of motorcycle bad boys who just happen selling hot dogs.
