Ahhh! This band just did my wedding, and I was SO AMAZED! The vocalist was awesome, they were super friendly, nice, sounded great, and the wedding literally went by without ANY flaws. They even prompted me as to when I needed to thank everyone, kept me on track with timelines, and really made me and my husband feel SUPER SPECIAL! We are so happy we hired them for our wedding! Third Coast Jazz did an amazing job. They set the right tone for every session of the wedding - ceremony, first dance and the following open dance. Everyone had a blast and kept asking where we found this amazing band! Jon has been very responsive and thorough during the whole wedding planning process and offered great suggestions for song list and time line. He's also able to create a plan that fits our budget! TCJ played our wedding on June 1 - my wife and I are fans of jazz and the Great American Songbook, and we wanted that to match our wedding theme. Early on, we heard them play to help us decide, and we were instantly impressed with their music and roots in jazz. Jon Walters, the leader of the band, helped design our songlist for the reception (they have A LOT of songs!) through several emails and phone calls. Our main focus was making sure that our music matched the style of our wedding, knowing full well if we weren't careful that it might encroach on other vintage styles, and Jon understood our concerns right away. What impressed me most was the product they put forth on the wedding day. The music integrated perfectly with the theme of our wedding! I'll never forget waiting for Grand Entrance and thinking, "wow, we couldn't have dreamed this any better!" From our 'moment' songs ("Fly Me To The Moon" was our first dance and they absolutely nailed it) to the open dancing portion (we had so many comments from our guests about how great the band was, both from jazz fans as well as folks who don't know jazz at all!) everything was so well done. They were able to transition so easily from the sort of slower, calmer portions of the reception to the more exciting and dance-y parts of the night! We were overjoyed to see so many of our guests having so much fun with the open dances! Our lead singers were Shaina and Jason and they were so good at leading the night. I wholeheartedly recommend TCJ and Jon for both their music and their professionalism. They produced a fantastic ambiance and experience for a wedding - we couldn't have had a better fit for our theme. Doing business in the midst of a global pandemic is challenging in the best of scenarios. As a meeting and event planner, Jon was always responsive and provided a great backdrop for our fundraising gala to bring entertainment to a 1920's party. This is THE best wedding band out there... classy, professional jazz ensemble that played really quality music for us, everything from classic jazz tunes to Sinatra and Bobby Darin. Handled all of our specific requests, learning new songs just for us, and got people dancing. They even looked good too! Exceeded all expectations (I knew they would be good based on a recommendation, but not this good!). Not your average wedding band at all. Everyone kept raving about how good our band was! The Third Coast Jazz Band played at our wedding ceremony and reception on 09/17/11 and they were amazing!! For our ceremony they played Dixieland style music as a trio, then they transitioned to a more traditional jazz quintet for the cocktail hour, dinner, and dancing. So many guests asked us how we found such an awesome band and everyone thoroughly enjoyed the music. Even a week after the event people asked us what the band's name was and we were still getting compliments on the music! I am a musician myself, I spent several years playing professionally in symphonies and the like. So you can imagine I was very picky and also worried about getting a great band since it was among the most important elements of our wedding to me. I had to pick the band from afar (I do not live in San Diego) so I was nervous the whole time leading up to the event whether Third Coast Jazz Band would be great. But Jon Walters (the band leader) was very helpful and responsive and made me feel at ease leading up to the wedding. And in the end the band FAR exceeded my expectations; really they are wonderful and extremely talented musicians!! They have an excellent repertoire with pages and pages of music selections. There is something for everyone at every age, especially if you appreciate good jazz (but even if you don't). And they can put together different types of ensembles to suit your taste and your event. The only thing I wish could have been different would have been if the band could have learned our unique selections for our wedding ceremony (we wanted to have particular songs that were not already in their repertoire). However, we only asked for them about two weeks in advance of the wedding, so I understand that learning new selections this quickly is not easy or even possible in some cases. I am sure with more time they would have been willing to learn new selections, as they were very flexible with all of our other requests! read more

From the very first contact call to the clean-up after our wedding reception, Third Coast Jazz Band and front-man Jon Walters were fantastic! We had the pleasure of having them perform at our wedding reception in April 2012. Jon is a very nice and easy to work with fellow who obviously loves music and performing. He was keen to our musical requests and gave great advice on the song list. Unlike many other wedding vendors, he was quick to respond to each call and email, and very accommodating along the way. Their music is on-beat, in-tune, has lots of feeling and is tight and coordinated. They are trained professionals using sheet music but have the skill for jazz improvisation. We had actually booked a very renowned string quartet for our ceremony and cocktail hour, but Jon and his boys blew them away! And for a lot less!! (on an hourly basis). These guys could charge a lot more for their expertise, but I was delighted to learn about their very reasonable fee. Jon even went above and beyond by providing the P.A. system at our ceremony for a very reasonable price (other vendors were quoting over 6 times more for this simple service). He arrived very early to ensure the system was ready to go. Thanks Jon! Additionally, Jon and his bunch are an attractive group of guys and so won't be a problem with wedding photos. They all were sharply dressed in black suits and ties, and only took a very short break once during the reception. We love Third Coast Jazz!!! Jon was great to work with as we had great communication prior to our wedding. My wife and I found TCJ as a preferred vendor for the Twin Oaks Garden Estate. I studied TCJ work online and fell in love with a few of their musical renditions. I requested a specific vocalist and Jon was able to set that up. Rebecca Jade was our vocalist and as Jon promised, Rebecca brought down the house. The band was on point and they exceeded all of our expectations. The venue had a vintage look and we wanted a big band sound from a live jazz band... TCJ did just that and more. Friend and family would come up to me during and after the wedding to say, "WOW... the band man... they were GREAT!!!" Everybody thought they classed up the joint very well and just set a classic tone and provided a wonderful musical score for a vintage wedding set in the good ol' days.
