Unfortunately I'm no comic book fan, so I honestly don't know if it's a good store for comics. However, it's great for friendly service, a ton of stuff you don't need, and pretty art so I still like it. I'm used to being treated like a jerk for not knowing about comics in stores, but here they just let me wander aimlessly. If they had more than a super tiny and forgotten sports memorbilia section, I'd be stoked, but that's the only complaint I can think of. I guess if comic book stores aren't your thing, this is the one to get stuck in. read more

The parking lot is under construction so you're gonna have to park on Wakeforest street right next to it. (Don't park at the sex shop next door or you'll get towed!) The first time I came to third planet, I was a little bit overwhelmed from the amount of stuff they have in their store. I initially thought it was very unorganized and confusing to navigate but now that I've been multiple times, I realized that it's just really due to the sheer amount of stock they have. They have so many different vintage toys that range from star trek to lord of the rings to the simpsons. They also have various obscure anime vhs tapes and a few dvds sprinkled here and there. They have a HUGE gundam selection. At the checkout counter, they have an annual book on toy and figure releases for the year and you can ask them to preorder a certain item from the book and you can come pick it up and buy it from the store so that's something I haven't seen other comic book stores do. read more

Before I talk about the store I am going to have to descibe the nightmare of a parking lot, which has been in the same state of deterioration for at least six years and possibly longer. There appears to be now only one way in and out of the parking lot and it is directly on the feeder from the southwest freeway. Navigating the potholes so you don't do your car serious damage is just about impossible, but despite this it is well worth the trip. The comic store is a little gem of a place and appears to be stuck somewhere in time in the early eighties. I went in there recently for a field assesment assignment for a class in graphic novels. I had heard that the store clerks could be a little surly, but I found that just the opposite was true. It had been at least a year or more since I had been and the comic titles seemed to have improved, I often go into Bedrock Comics off of Westheimer( I love that store as well). Besides comics, gaming equipment and the numerous amounts of toys they had a great selection of older science fiction fantasy titles that you could only find in a really good used book store. I'll be back when i have more time to read for fun. read more

I always went to this place, why? Because of their massive selection. They have comics to the roof , star wars toys covering the walls and everything else a old geek or kid needs. I loved this store but usually walked out with 1 item. The prices had stopped me from buying a crap load of plastic in the shape of Darth Vader and Luke Skywalker. I just can't afford Starwars figures for $15 each. But the staff is helpful and they have a good selection of cheap old comics in the middle. Third Planet is unique and great. For all the gaming people they have a lot of collectible games and some old baseball cards. They also have a lot of $500+ items in the back which are fun to take a peek at. Overall this place is like a museum of toys and comics where you can purchase the exhibits. 4 stars. read more

This place is very awsome!!!!!!! There is a lot to see and staff is very friendly and helpful.. I have been to other comic stores, but this one is at the top of my list. My daughter and I enjoyed browsing through all the merchandise. I will start coming to this place more often. read more

If you are into vintage toys this is the place for you. Originally I went in looking for more current stuff and found some things, but was overwhelmed by the amount of old school items available. I have been a subscriber at Third Planet for a while now. I can honestly saw, THE BEST SERVICE I HAVE EVER HAD AT ANY COMIC BOOK SHOP. Hands down. Just a week ago I was asking about a very rare DeadPool action figure and wham, a couple days later they got ahold of one. The staff is extremely helpful and courteous. Alot of reviews I read, mention that Third Planet is pricey, I feel the service you receive is defintely worth it. read more

Fun store. Lots and LOTS to look at and collect! Great staff with lots of friendly smiles and advice! I was recommended Judge Dredd by an employee, who even helped me locate some stuff. Cool little knick-knacks and trinkets and stuff that I, admittedly, don't quite understand but thought looked neat anyways. Tons of action figures too!!! So many! The store was a little dirty, but oh well. I went there on their "Free Comic" day and was pretty impressed, though parking was horrendous, but that's not really their fault so I didn't take away a star. This place is a Houston landmark. I've been going here ever since I was a kid and they were on Bissonett b/t Greenbriar & Kirby (both places). I'll agree it's a little run down but the supply & staff make up for it. However this is the Mecca for comicbook/Sci-Fi/Fantasy lovers in Houston. They have the largest selection of anywhere and is the first place I go when I'm a man-on-a-mission (if they don't have what I got usually I can get what I'm looking for @ Bedrock City but most of the time it's one-stop shopping for me). Staff is great and friendly as well as very helpful & knowledgeable. In the majority of the reviews on this place have complained about the driveway being all marked w/ potholes, which has been fixed with it being repaved and a handicap ramp w/ a red wooden guardrail added to boot, and parking, which rarely is an issue but overcrowding can happen everywhere at any time, so the negatives are really not that much of an issue. Now as far as the disorganization goes, I'm sorry but I you can't see that one section is for DVDs another for comic books, another for action figures, collector cards, RPGs or have trouble with the alphabet then I can see where you might find things disorganized. To me everything seems to be well under control it's just that all of the shelving and whatnot is a little old so that kinda adds to the atmosphere of the place. Great prices, now with decent parking, in a great generalized area of town, awesome selection of anime/Asain movies, out of print sci-fi/fantasy novels, collector cards, posters, action figures, replicas, and of course comic books. read more
