All around decent spot for boba in Omaha, the missing star is for food. Host/Cashier is generally extremely nice and I appreciate their efficiency. Food is pretty subpar, no matter what I order and I have tried a few things throughout the menu. Really love the mural in the space (pic below). The seating situation is weird, but I am assuming it is a Covid-era situation. Awesome combination of flavours, decent prices, relatively busy almost always and fairly clean. By far the best place to get boba! Very nostalgic for the California days. Whenever I've gone they have been very consistent with the texture and flavor of their boba, which is key. They have a good variety of flavors and the prices are reasonable with the sizes. Haven't tried the food, so can't comment on that. The only reason they can't get a 5 star from me is because they are SOOOO SLOW. I don't know if there's just not a good strategy to get boba drinks cranking when it's busy or something but it takes FOREVER to move in line and after you order. One of the better and only boba places in Omaha. This has been a long due review after coming here for years (30+ times). It's usually pretty crowded and there is limited seating inside, but definitely a must try! Starting with their food items, I've tried everything except the Chinese fried crueller and the more expensive onigiri. Onigiri (spam, avocado, seaweed, kimchi): The spam onigiri is always my go to! Kimchi is surprisingly good also, and seaweed is decent. I haven't had a good experience with the avocado one because the times I've had it the avocado was hard and not ripe. The spicy mayo sauce that comes with it is good also! Takoyaki: Another good choice in terms of taste and amount for a relatively cheap price. Edamame, wings, Gyoza are all worth getting also. I love me some Thirst-Tea!!! Not only do I love their fresh drinks with their yummy jellies, boba, and poppings, but I also enjoy their food! The location of this place is perfect for summertime and for college kids seeking a little break from their studies and for people like me who don't mind the distance for a little sweetness. My favorite drinks from here are usually the light tea ones like the Hawaiian Sunset (Red Guava/Passion Fruit Green Tea with Lychee Jelly, and I add mango popping) or the Island Twist (Pineapple, Mango, Passion Fruit Green tea with Mango Jelly and I'll add Lychee popping). Seeing a trend here? I love me some tropical fruits!! I've tried the Taro milky which is just as good, but I just prefer the lighter flavors. I drink a lot of boba when I'm not in Omaha, so I have tried many different places and I would say I this place is at the top of my list, but not number one overall... still top quality!!! I was craving Bubble Tea and me, being an outsider in Omaha, I did not know any place around. In comes Thirst-Tea, nonchalantly saying hi to me in the middle of the Midtown Crossing area. It is quite small and may pass unseen within the huge arc of the Apartment complex where it is located. However, since it was the closest thing to me, I immediately took notice and decides to give it a try. I had the Japanese Matcha bubble tea and a pair of onigiris. I must say that, maybe I was hungry or super craving ir, but the tea was good and so were the rice balls. This was back in January 2019. I also love the fact that they make some of their teas using a lactose free coconut milk base (or something like that). Either way, my taste buds and stomach were feeling great. They also have great store hours so you can go in between all of your meals. There were decent amount of people when we went on a Sunday evening (and even more later when we received our orders) so expect a short wait depending on how crowded it is. There is a formula to succeed in Midtown Crossing, which has always seemed to struggle to retain tenants, particularly for restaurants. Be unique and make a good product. I think Thirst-Tea has it, and it is evidenced by it being a now longstanding establishment at MC. However, with more Boba places opening, they can do a bit to remain a top place to visit. We visited for the first time over the weekend during an off time, but still saw others coming in and out or hanging around. We ordered a Milky drink and a slush. Both tasted great, though the Milky drink was not cold enough for our liking and it's temp was almost room temperature. The service was adequate, though some of the tables were quite dirty for not having that many customers sitting and staying. They had several workers behind the counter that could have cleaned, but none did. There is a reason why Thirst-Tea is still in MC and was able to open a new location more west. I must say, I was not disappointed! The first time I went, I ordered a Thai tea. I t was really good! Especially since the last Thai tea I had, which was in Boulder, was really gross, the Thai tea here was refreshing! We also ordered the mango slush, and a taro. They were all really good! Not only does Thirst tea serve boba tea, the also serve some food too! We ordered the takoyaki and a couple spam onigiris. So good!!! Being from Hawaii, we like spam so of course we liked those and the takoyaki? My husband and daughter really loved the fact you could actually see the octopus AND they said they were good! The girl who took our order was so so kind and she was really good about clarifying that she took our order correctly, being that it's hard to hear and speak clearly with masks on. Our order was done correctly and was made pretty quick. Only downside is that there is no inside seating for when it's colder outside, and their bathrooms were closed. My husband ordered an iced chai tea and it was probably one of the best I've had . I got the iced Vietnamese coffee and it was good but I have had better things from this place. Every boba place (penguin cafe anyone?) has let me down in Omaha except this one. A legit boba place in Omaha is long overdue. Thirst-tea is legit. From the heat sealed lids to the tv projected menu.. classic authentic Taiwanese boba shop right in Omaha. Same layout, same concept, etc. as my favorite Taiwanese boba shop back in Honolulu. Same type of menu items as well. If you're from Hawaii you're gonna love this place. Firstly it's close to Creighton. Second they have SPAM on the menu. Probably the first place in Omaha to have this, seriously. But even if you're not familiar with boba, I think it's about time Midwesterners are introduced to it. In California these shops are a dime a dozen, especially in places like San Gabriel in SoCal or San Francisco. I honestly think that Thirst Tea is a force to be reckoned with, paving the way for authentic asian food to be a part of the Omaha food scene. With food items like Takoyaki, spam nigiri, and shrimp tempura nigiri-- they offer a twist to the standard "drinks only" boba shop. I actually ordered the Takoyaki and it was sooo good. Definitely authentic. Katsuobushi, shredded seaweed, kewpie mayo and everything!! Took me straight back to the Takoyaki stand they have in Honolulu at this giant Japanese store called Shirokiya. I also got a small taro milk tea which was also very good. Boba was not too soft but not too hard, just right. The milk tea itself was a bit sweet for me, but still good, I think you can adjust sweetness if you asked so I will do that next time. The only negative thing I have to say is that 3.50 for a shrimp tempura nigiri does not fly for me. Lol there better be like 4 shrimp tempura's in that thing..! Otherwise that's way too expensive! Fellow omahans-- you have to give this place a try. Seriously. If I had this in my college years I wouldn't have been so homesick and craving asian food. So happy this place has found a home here. What a wonderful addition to Midtown Crossing and Omaha in general. The crew at Thirst-Tea not only make the best damn bubble tea you'll have, but they also offer a menu of appetizers that features a few dishes you won't find elsewhere in town. I went with the Japanese Matcha tea, which was creamy, sweet and a little earthy. Food-wise, I tried the gyoza (you know, little pot-stickers), spam onigiri (spam inside a rice patty that you wrap in seaweed) and takoyaki (little balls filled with octopus, mayonnaise and a Worchestershire-like sauce) -- all served up fast, fresh and street food style. Everything was delicious. Everything tasted great. For those not into bubble tea (basically little tapioca balls in your drink), Thirst-Tea offers bubbles infused with tons and tons of different flavors. For those who love bubble tea, this also mean you can experiment with many different flavor combinations. Thirst-tea is a great spot to sit and relax and enjoy some great tea and apps with your friends. I've been a bubble tea addict ever since it's started it's debut back at my hometown years ago. I would try every new boba shop that opens and looking for local boba house whenever I travel. With that being said, I can definitely tell you that Thirst-Tea is a legit and real bubble tea house in Omaha that can always cure my craves for bubble tea like I always had in Asia. Since they're open I've been going there pretty often to get bubble tea whatever the season is. My favorite drinks are all of their bubble teas (since that's what I like) but they also have other kind of drinks and side foods on the menu which I'm sure are good as well. They also have a punch card that will get you a free drink after 10 punches. However, I must warn you that they're packed during Spring and Summer or even just any weekends, especially when there's an event at the park. So unless you're ready to wait for 1/2 hour, try to come on weekdays. Up to date I can't find any bubble tea house that can beat them and I'm excited for their 2nd location opening soon which is going to be closer to me, yayy So if you're looking for a real bubble tea that's taste like the original one (from where it comes) then Thirst-Tea is definitely your place! read more

Best tea in Omaha! This tea shop reminds me of the ones in Taiwan, a great place to relax while enjoying some tea and snacks. I ordered a small Thai tea and my boyfriend ordered the Taro. The boba wasn't too chewy or mushy and the drinks in general were super tasty. There was a great selection on flavors and though I didn't order this, the other bubble tea drinks have actual tea in it (black, jasmine, etc) and you can also get fruit jelly or popping boba! We also ordered gyoza, 6 to an order, which seemed to have a light coating of Panko, which made it even better. Being a nice day, we were able to go outside and walk around since it is located in Midtown Crossing. Prices are great, the atmosphere is modern, and the staff was really friendly. Stopped by because I was a bit thirst-tea (XD), and I'm glad I did! It seemed like this was pretty much the only tea shop in the area, and I honestly wasn't expecting it to compare to Seattle, California, or Taiwan. However, it ended up being better than I expected! I tried the milk tea with tapioca, and the honey black tea with aloe, both in their regular-sized cups. Both drinks were better than average, but the "aloe" tasted more like it was lychee. Not a bad thing, just not what was expected. Also, their regular-sized cups are smaller than the usual regular-sized cups for bubble tea, and their drinks are pricier than Seattle's. They have ample seating inside, as well as seating outside. They also sell some snacks/food! I can only rate the bubble tea here since that's all we got. Not sure about the food but that just means we need to come back! Found this place when we found ourselves in Omaha and craving some boba. This place looked promising. While I didn't personally go there, I had it brought back to the house. The boba itself was delicious. Soft and sweet like it should be. I got the almond milk tea and the milk tea to try. The almond milk tea came out white so that was a big indication of powder use which I'm not a fan of. It tasted just like almond flavoring with no tea. The milk tea was actually pretty good. We ended up mixing the 2 since the almond milk tea had no milk tea taste and it was perfect! So I've been wanting to come here for awhile and I have rather mixed feelings about it. I came here just before Jazz on the green started, so maybe that effected my stay. There was three people working. One lady making the tea, one dude taking the orders, and another guy that kept walking around but not really doing much? Yes I could have picked jelly over boba or whatever, but I dunno. Maybe I'm being a brat about this. We got two items, a med Taro boba and a med Coco boba. Between the two I liked the taro better but eh.. neither were something I'd write home about. Both were ridiculously sweet, like they would give Starbucks a run for their money sweet. The taro was very light in taro flavor, could have been double what it was. The coconut was really strange. It didn't take like artificial coconut, coconut milk, or even real coconut. I can't really place the taste, but it didn't scream coconut to me. I wanted to try the takoyaki however we had just eaten so I wasn't hungry. If I go there again hopefully they are less busy and the person working can help me figure out something else that is more "customized". Reading the reviews I guess I expected more. Again, I'm willing to try again in the future if I find myself in the neighborhood. Two words can pretty much sum up how I feel about Thirst-Tea... completely obsessed. I have sampled all of their milk tea flavors and have yet to be disappointed. They have many options of different boba, jellies and popping boba. They also have a small menu of snack items. I have personally only tried the onigiri (basically a ball of rice with something stuffed in the middle and wrapped in nori) and I really enjoyed it. I have seen groups studying, but in my opinion the music is too loud to be able to focus on work or school. But if you don't mind that, there is plenty of seating and free wi-fi. 3 Stars for the drink and onigiri 0 stars for everything else! Let me start with the goods: The taro milk tea was a dub. Not a huge dub, but a dub nonetheless. (Urban dictionary is your friend). I requested it to be less sweet, added extra boba and ordered the large. The "large" here is a regular sized cup at your typical boba place. The large might actually even be a bit smaller than a standard regular!...but I digress. The taro flavor was not powdery or grainy at all! It was completely blended with the milk and I had no chalky residue left in my mouth, so thumbs up for the execution because most places just get it all wrong. The taste and texture of the boba was commensurate with other shops, so I wasn't complaining. Good drink over all! Shrimp Tempura Onigiri was as expected. Big triangle of rice wit a fatty of a shrimp running thru the center. Can't read Japanese so I'm p-sure I unwrapped it incorrectly, but I'll get it next time. The bad tho: Takoyaki is a dish I've seen on the travel channel and sounded right up my alley. Octopus balls essentially. Asked for no mayo because that is a sin that I absolutely do NOT indulge in. Bit into a ball and it was mushy AF. Am I trippin' or is it supposed to be like that? Either way, I couldn't handle the texture in my mouth. It's like---you see the exterior is all browned and firm and then you bite into it and surprise!: hot baby food mush! What I did appreciate were the small bits of octopus. I was ecstatic to try them, and now I don't know that I will ever stick one in my mouth every again. I prefer balls of other sorts anyhow. That gyoza shocked me. Took a bite and the rubbery mystery meat took me by surprise, so I dared look down into it---and what do ya know---a turd is staring back at me! Completely unappetizing! Lost my will to eat. I have grown to love bubble teas from my travels on the west coast, and so I was sure to check out this place on its opening day. The tea tastes just like other authentic bubble teas that I have tried in the West coast and definitely the best bubble tea in Omaha! The prices are reasonable at $3.50 for small and $4.25 for large. They will customize the tea to your liking and they have heat sealed lids so you don't spill tea all over your car (too many bad experiences with that). The peachee or peach lychee was very refreshing on a hot day, the perfect mix of green tea and fruit flavor. They have Asian snacks, which is a limited menu of appetizers and egg rolls.
