This is the 3rd time we've used Michael; first time was when wife and I moved into our "new" home here in Pismo. I can guarantee we will ALWAYS call This n That to handle our home repair needs. This time it was to repair/rescreen some ancient sliding door screens and a few window screens. That worked wonderfully; we really can't see the screens...we thought for a moment he forgot to reinstall them! HA-HA! Seriously! And, the sliding door screens actually ROLL along now. Michael also re-caulked our two kitchen sinks - beautiful work! And, he fixed a long bathroom lighting fixture that has six big round balls of light. I hired him, we agreed on a price and the job took longer than expected. He wanted me to pay for 2 more hours. Told him I couldn't go anymore than the price agreed on..he did not complete all he was suppose to do. My advice to anyone else that hires Michael to be sure and get everything in writing before job is started. Michael Payne really knows his stuff. I called him my hero when he was able to work me in and fix the sliding glass door in my bedroom that I was suddenly unable to open. It was quite a job and bigger than we both thought and he just kept at it until it works better than it has in years. He's extremely busy and I was fortunate enough to have him come back several weeks later. This week he did a lot of This and that. He has a wide range of knowledge and a great spirit. You can tell he enjoys helping people. He put a dog door in the wall. When he took the old dog door out of sliding door in living room the glass door wouldn't close, so even though near quitting time he took that door off and fixed it too. Fixed my front door that was blowing open with the wind. Built a new closet shelf, taking out the old rod and turning one shelf into two. Put a new sliding screen door in my bedroom. And sealed some leaks in my rain gutters. All in one day! I'm thrilled with all the work he accomplished and feel Blessed to have him to call when I need work done. read more

I've worked with a couple of handyman in the past, but they were too busy to take on my new project. I hired This N That Handyman Service to power wash my house, and install an electrical outlet. Micheal Payne (owner), came out to provide a quote and immediately struck me as someone reliable and trustworthy. I agreed to the quote, and he was able to start and complete the work the next day! Very exciting, since I had been waiting weeks for another handyman to simply quote the project. The work was done perfectly, and the cost came back lower than the quote! Michael Payne is an amazing, highly skilled, and smart handy man. My neighbor used him to quiet a generator and told me "Mike's a smart guy". Mike was kind enough to stop by the day before Thanksgiving and address 3 repairs I needed even though he was slammed.Then he returned yesterday to complete everything from installing a remote controlled window shade to repairing a screeching garage door (don't have to install a new one), and 10 other things from my To Do List. He is fast and efficient!! He is a highly qualified glazer for glass, and also does remodels. He is also friendly and honest. I asked him to secure 4 drapery supports because the new drapes were really heavy...but he told me only one needed to be fixed!! I have known Michael Paine for ten years now, when I first met him at Home Depot where I was an associate. He was always busy, organized, and friendly. Every time he did personal work for me it was prompt, efficient, and priced fairly. Others reported the same experience. His business grew. Now we are personal friends, and we recently spent a day at the local road race course running time trials in my Miata. Early in the day a spark plug blew out the ceramic element but the metal base remained and was still jammed in deep in the motor. Several other drivers brought tools and hands on help, including the owner of the on track Mazda garage, but no one could get it to budge. Michael insisted he knew what tool would work but no one had one and the 5 local auto parts stores did not have it. Buttonwillow Raceway is hot and the blazing sun was cranking up to 105. We were stranded with a disabled car a hundred miles from home on a Sunday afternoon. Michael never gave up. He finally located the tool by phone, hitched a ride 15 miles to buy it, returned, made the fix, and we drove home for dinner time. As we drove in the driveway I couldn't help but say, "Considering what we were up against, I can't believe that we are here!" Michael's persistence and experience made it happen. We have found it difficult to get a good handyman, until Michael. Our first experience was today when he came out to fix a plumbing problem. He was on time, fixed the plumbing as well as the other issues that arose. His price was reasonable and I really appreciated that he cleaned up after himself. I had Mike here in December and had broken my arm so he was installing a ramp to assist me to walk in the house the ramp was purchased from Amazon. It stayed up for less than 2 months and then the heads of the screws broke off and I almost fell on it He won't return my calls . He also installed a pivoting light for reading in bed and the light fell on my head during the nite He did come back for that and said the bracket was to small.
