I've had massages in the past where it felt like the therapist was just going through the motions and going off of a checklist - that was NOT the case here. Dorinda paid very special attention to where I was carrying extra tension (for me, my neck - though I don't think I realized that until she started working on it and I could feel the knots being worked out). He performed deep tissue in certain areas, and that was truly kind of him since deep tissue normally costs more. I had a great first experience with him. He is light hearted, friendly, lovely to talk to - and listened to my concerns. I purchased a deep tissue and went back to him for a 90 minute about 10 days later to see if we could really get to the root of my problems. Although I had relief, it wasn't let's say.. "fixed" per se. I will say that he said I'm the first person he's encountered like this. For context, I've been getting massages for over a decade, and I haven't found anyone that's been able to "fix" me. I'm also very active, train 1-3 hours a day as a hoop dancer and all around performer. I've at least always felt better than when I walked in. I also personally do a lot of myofascial release, stretching, yoga - and I really try everything to give myself some relief in my upper back/neck/thoracic/trap region. It was nice to be able to just pull up a calendar and see what was available. The massage room was in the gym, but they have done a good job of keeping out the extraneous noise. Michael's massage technique is shiatsu. I was clothed, and he spent much of his time on my back, and also did some great stretches for my legs. I'm an athlete that is horrible about stretching so I definitely thought that part was beneficial. He was very professional, and I felt pretty relaxed during the whole experience.
