While the massages I received here were great, I would not recommend signing up for a membership. I had signed up for one while pregnant to treat myself to some prenatal massages and transitioned the membership to regular massages after that. Since I had a baby, my schedule made it difficult for me to use the monthly massages with my membership. I ultimately accrued a total of 4 massages that I hadn't used so I canceled the membership and when I did was told I'd be able to use the 4 credits I had. Well, that turns out to not be the case. I can't book online and they haven't answered any of my many calls!! (Previous to me cancelling they'd always call back within a day or so!) read more

I got the "Lots of Knots Deep Tissue massage" for 55 min with a hot stone add on and I felt like a different person after. The room and amenities were clean and they're very respectful and offer a lot of privacy. Jada was my masseuse and she was fantastic, really dug into all my knots (at my request!) It was also nice that they offer an Alexa so you can play whatever music you want while you're getting the massage. They offer a few different options for essential oil fragrances, including an unscented one which is nice if you're sensitive to fragrances. I chose the lemongrass and it wasn't too strong. VERY disappointed. Made a prenatal appointment one day in advance and the business called less than 6 hours before the appointment (two hours after they opened for the day) and cancelled my session. I've been extremely stressed and was very much looking forward to this massage in advance of the holidays. I'm willing to bet if I had cancelled with 6 hours notice, I would have had to pay a cancellation fee. You should always have staff on call for situations like this. And I was set to become a member and everything! No thank you. ***UPDATE: Since posting this review, they have reached out several times, including TEXTING ME. I did not give anyone from this business permission to text me. Since when is this OK? This is the opposite kind of service I would expect from a business that promotes relaxation and wellness. I told them over the phone when they initially cancelled that I would go elsewhere for my massage, and they continue to call/text me and invade my privacy. This is very poor behavior from a business. Another update: This business continues to text (again, without my permission), and at this point made it clear that they are only doing so because I've left a Yelp review. A couple hours after they cancelled my appointment, I received an appointment reminder. Yes! They had the audacity to remind me of the appointment that they cancelled. I called after receiving the reminder to confirm that they did, indeed, cancel my appointment. Yet, the appointment is still reflected in their scheduling software. I'm really appreciative of the emotional distress they're causing me (a stressed pregnant lady), when the whole reason I made appointment there in the first place is to try to relieve stress. SHOUT OUT TO TED! I can't speak to this location's business practices (seems to be a point of contention in other reviews), but O-M-G. Ted is freaking awesome. I booked my first deep tissue massage ever with him (30 mins) and was pretty nervous. I've taken the BSL to work for 5+ years and just started having to drive to work (I hate you 95), so I have a LOT of tension in my neck, shoulders and upper back. I needed some serious work. Ted asked what I wanted to focus on, so I told him that area and we got to it. He immediately made me feel super comfortable. He said affirmative things throughout, reminded me to breathe, let me know when he was going to apply more pressure and asked a couple of times how the pressure was (it was perfect). He found knots I didn't even know I had and commented a couple of times on how bad they were (oops!) But, he got them all. Seriously, all of them. There were a few "hurts so good" moments, but I've heard of people being in tears after deep tissues--not the case at all with Ted. I don't get massages frequently, but I am highly considering making the investment in myself after this. I have another one scheduled soon and I really cannot wait. Thank you Ted!!! read more

Just got a 30 minute deep tissue massage with Ted and wow!!! Super intense, but in 30 mins he managed to get my toddler carrying mess of a back feeling pain free! I had had memberships for Massagephilly pre Covid just to start this off from queen village. I was gifted with a $200 gift certificate November of 2019. Their gift certificates expire one year from issue if you can believe. Then covid hit. I called multiple times and emailed the place just trying to find out if they would still honor it as it was going to be past. Never heard back at all!! Finally this past week I called to make an appointment and start going back for my monthly massages. The man on the phone said they had restructured, new ownership and the location I had bought it at (Queen Village) had closed and would not allow me to use the gift card. Even tho it was the same company technically?! Their website doesn't look like they have changed?! They also still have their Philly Award up from 2015 on their site. New ownership? Take down the awards then!!! So disheartening and grimy. You were closed for 75% of the time I could have used the gift card!! New ownership should mean you take over the gift cards issued. This is my second time getting a massage here and again, it was amazing. The first time, I had Ted who did an amazing deep tissue massage, along with some stretching. He kindly reminded me to breathe deep during the massage and really worked out every knot. This time, I had Joshua who was just as great. Entering the lobby it was clean, tidy, smelled nice. Greeted by a young lady at the front desk. Nice gal. Room(entire place actually) is temperature controlled amd comfortable. There's even a chair for one person in case you come early and fill out the papers. Got the 120 minute Swedish from Ted. What a professional! Had two great massages here, a relaxing swedish massage from Maggie and a deep tissue from Ted. Ted found every knot and released all the built-up tension throughout my body, even in places I didn't realize I was carrying it (calves, forearms, etc). He even helped me get rid of the achey pain I was feeling for weeks in my shoulder blade. Will definitely be a returning customer. I actually got a girl on the phone who said she would call me back in five minutes!!! Never called me. The quality of massage is good overall - The best session I had was with Maggie. She gets a five star. The atmosphere is nice; they offer you tea if you arrive early and the waiting room and massage rooms are clean and comfortable. Their membership and cancellation policies are lame, though. They require that you cancel by a certain point within the month for it to become effective for the upcoming month and you have to do it by signing paperwork in person. I was there once and the receptionist was struggling with someone on the phone about how they absolutely needed to cancel in person. After the cancellation, if you have unused massages that you paid member price for, they charge you the difference to make up the non-member price. I get it, it just feels shitty and duplicitous. read more

I'm not usually one to post, but Ted definitely deserves a rave review. Ive gotten massages my whole life and today Ted topped them all. I have a 5 month old and after too much carrying, I went in for a much needed deep tissue for lower back pain. Ted really knows what he's doing. I left feeling amazing. When I asked him his hours..he said he works weekends at Bella Vista and weekdays at the Passyunk location. Give him a try and you'll see what I mean. I've been a member for a couple of years and love Massage Passyunk. Unlike other membership-based places, your credits carry over and don't expire. All the locations are immaculately clean, simply and beautifully designed, and you can choose from a wide variety of oils and music styles each time. The staff are always kind and professional and I love the convenience of booking on their website - as well as the flexibility of multiple locations. I also have to give a shout out to Ted, who I got a massage from yesterday. Not only was it one of the best I have ever received, but he was so incredibly friendly, calm, kind, and pleasant. I made an appointment here stating that I had a spa finder gift card. When I arrived at the spa I told them first thing that I had a spa finder gift card and asked if it was a problem. I was told it shouldn't be a problem. I then went to pay after my service and was then told that they don't accept spa finder gift cards. They offered to take off part of the price of the service and told me that the owner would call me to discuss the matter. I never got a call. Also the credit they gave me left $70 that the spa finder card would've covered. As great as the services were I will not be going back due to their lack of professionalism and not honoring a gift card they never told me I couldn't use. After a long road trip, I needed a massage because my muscles were so tense from being in a car for so long. I was able to get a same-day appointment which was really nice. Honey did my massage. She asked what type of pressure I liked and I said light - medium however she definitely had a strong grip and I had to ask repeatedly for her to do it more gently. A few things that annoyed me: After she took me back to the room (10 min after my appointment time) and told me to undress and lay on the massage table, she disappeared for at least 5 minutes or more. Usually they leave for a minute or two, giving you just enough time to undress and get comfortable. But I figured, that's fine, as long as she makes up the time during the massage. NOPE. She ended exactly 1 hour from when the appointment was scheduled for, meaning I paid for a 60 min massage and only got a 45 min massage. She also used SO much oil. I had to wipe myself off with a towel before getting into my car and showered immediately when I got home. You should not feel that greasy after leaving a massage. Lastly, it was very awkward when the woman at the front desk asked me while Honey was in the lobby standing right next to me, if I wanted to add a tip to my card. I felt pressured about how much I needed to leave because the person receiving the tip was standing next to me. All in all, it was a mediocre experience at best and I don't think I will be returning. read more

I was given a gift card for mother's day for a well-needed massage. When I walked in, the place is clean, and well kept. The ability to choose my essential oil and music was fun. The massage was great, and even though I was given a GC for a swedish massage, the masseuse put a little more effort in my shoulder since they were tight. He really did a great job. The whole time was wonderful until I was about to leave. The masseuse walked me out, gave me water and a chocolate, while saying "since I did a little extra for you, maybe you can leave a little extra for me!" It really upset me that he would say something like that. I ALWAYS give great tips and hearing that was very rude. It really put a damper on the day! read more

I like to complain. After months of complaining about my back, my girlfriend got me a half year membership to this place for our anniversary. Having never gotten a "real" massage, I had A LOT of questions before my first appointment; the receptionist was able to answer all these for me and gave recommendations about what type of massage to schedule. Then when getting there, I discover I can also choose a scented oil and the type of music I want. A minty massage to the Beatles? Yes, please. I've seen a couple masseuses, each with a different style, all great. Each time, I've gotten some at home/ at work/ at gym pointers & stretches from the therapist so the girlfriend doesn't have to listen to my complaining. While this place's close to my work, there's another one close to my apartment, and my membership works both places. Although my membership's about to end and I could still come in as a guest, I'm probably going to continue it and add my girlfriend to the account. The $64 a month is absolutely worth every penny. read more

I've been here for Swedish massages about 6 times and each experience has been above average. The space is simple but clean, and extremely soothing. I love that you can pick your music- I am hoping they add some more playlists. Every masseuse was very knowledgeable and attentive to my requests. Two that stand out are Maggie who always takes the time to give me some exercises to use at the end of our visit- and just had the pleasure of meeting Ted who is amazing with his hands. I was a little sore today, but man, he got all of those knots out. I highly recommend Massage-I've become a member and look forward to my monthly sessions. read more
