I was unsure since I am not a member of the local tribe, but the insurance folks promised me that SY Tribal Health Clinic serves both tribal members and community members outside of the tribe. My intake visit today was very smooth. I arrived a few minutes early, filled out paperwork, and was taken to the exam room within ten minutes--even before I'd finished all my paperwork. The nurse was friendly and efficient. The doctor (Dr. Brewer) immediately started asking me questions about my past medical history and listened even to my tangentially related answers with a smile. She was thorough and personable, which is a hard combination to find with doctors these days who often seem too rushed to offer much of a bedside manner. I got blood work done painlessly just down the hallway from the exam room, and then I was on my way. I am very glad my insurance recommended SY Tribal Heath Clinic, and I am impressed with the level of care there.

Over the last 20 years, I had tried every medication under the sun, along with holistic treatments, countless forms of therapy...the list is endless. I had even tried the IV ketamine treatment at a clinic but the effects didn't last and it was way too expensive to do regularly. I had basically given up, and was contemplating suicide daily. This review is for Mark Cohoon, P.A…read more Do not make an appointment with Mark. I have had an appointment with one other P.A. at this location and she was nice and helpful. I made the mistake of making an appointment with Mark and have regretted it ever since. First off, Mark is an extremely bad communicator. I am more confused about what is going on every time I walk out of an appointment with him. He is unclear explaining what the issue is and what steps we are going to take to try to figure it out and fix it. Secondly, Mark does not know what he is doing. He seems to lack general medical knowledge. I asked for a recommendation for a cream that reduces the appearance of scars and he said, "I don't know off the top of my head. I would have to Google it". He is also unfamiliar with the required steps in the healthcare system. For example, he referred me to an Oncologist. I made an appointment with the Oncologist but on the day of my appointment an Oncologist staff called me to cancel the appointment because I would have to have a biopsy done before the Oncologist would see me. Mark clearly did not know what needed to be done before I saw the specialist. Thirdly, he wastes your time and money. He makes you come in and pay the copay for a 5 minute appointment in which he tells you something he could have told you over the phone. Unfortunately, the Jackson Medical Group staff said I can't switch to another P.A. or doctor (reminder - he isn't an M.D.) because he is the one who has seen me and can refer me to a specialist. In conclusion, I would never recommend Mark Cohoon.

She waited four hours to be seen, which we understood given that it is Super Bowl weekend and the urgent care was likely understaffed. However, the main issue occurred when she was finally called back after waiting four hours, only to be told that our insurance was not accepted and that she would need to pay $200 out of pocket to be seen. We feel this information should have been verified or communicated much earlier in the process, especially with patients who are experiencing extreme pain, which my wife was.
