Dr Faruggia was one of the few dentists who take Medicaid. I had to have all my teeth extracted which was done in two visits, the tops first and bottoms 4wks later. Both times after the blocker wore off I literally had no pain! Dr Faruggia made me feel so at ease and the procedure was super quick even though there were several teeth broken at the gum line to extract. read more

Dentist Thomas Farrugia DDS in Batavia NY is the worst! I don't know if its because I do not have the best insurance or if he just genuinely doesn't care. I was seen or should say lack thereof for an urgent visit.. he didn't even have the decency to examine me himself one of the assistants did. second visit a routine teeth cleaning.. assistant does the cleaning and says Dr. will be in to check everything.. she comes back and says he's to busy. second teeth cleaning same year.. again assistant does cleaning says Dr. will be in shortly. he pops in literally takes his finger around my gum line and say looks good and walks out.. 5 seconds tops! zero conversation, zero questions, zero bedside manner. the only thing this practice has going for them is their friendly staff of secretaries who always greet with a smile. read more

Do not go here! This office is awful! The staff is RUDE! The dentist is also RUDE!! My 15 year old son had three cavities filled here. The last one done was a few weeks after the first 2. A few days after the filling my son was in a lot of pain. We went to an emergency clinic and they took X-rays. We were informed that DR Farrugia did not fill in The cavities properly. There were holes in all three of them. we went back to the clinic to have these fixed. after the new dentist at this new clinic took the old filling done by dr. f out, she informed me that there was still cavity in there. DR. F left some of the cavity and just filled over it. Then didn't even fill in the whole thing. To say I was beyond furious is an understatement. Not only did he not complete the fillings properly, but during the last visit he muttered a rude comment about my sons teeth under his breath. this place is terrible. Go at your own risk! read more

If you're looking for a dentist, stay away from this guy. I went to him because he was the only one in the area that would take Medicaid funded insurance (Fidelis). I need a new crown-bridge but Fidelis wouldn't pay for it, of course. At the same time Obamacare will only allow me to go to a Fidelis provider, even if I'm paying for all the work done. I tried over 20 dentists in the area and either they didn't take Fidelis insurance because they are so terrible, or they were not allowed to take me because of some part of the Obamacare law. Farrugia knows this, so he gave me an outrageous estimate for the dental work thinking I had no choice but to go to him. I finally found a great dentist in Houghton and they requested my dental X-rays from Farrugia. However, Farrugia refused to email the high quality digital X-rays. Instead, he sent by snail-mail worthless computer printouts that my new dentist couldn't read because they were so fuzzy. A request to Fidelis to get new X-rays taken was denied, and again I could not pay for the new X-rays myself because of the way the Obamacare law is written. Farrugia thought he had me over a barrel trying to force me to go back to him, but I just waited the assh@#* out. I've been going around with two front teeth missing for over two months, but with the new year now here, I'm able to get a new insurance provider and start all over again. In the end, because I'm a poor retired school teacher, I learned through the Houghton dentist that I qualify for subsidized dental work (40% off!), and the Houghton practice offers low cost financing too. I can get a whole new full bridge (not just a cap that Farrugia was going to do) for far less than what Farrugia was going to charge me. Anyway, stay as far away as you can from that scamming guy or risk paying through the nose. read more

this place made my dentures. "that do not fit" went back twice, and he still could not get them correct so I called, and asked him for a letter for my insurance company, as they will cover implants. then they told me they can't do that for me, as they say I missed two appointment's witch they cancel with me.. so I did not get the letter I needed to send to my insurance company. I highly recommend that you look elsewhere before going to this place. the service is terrible!!!!! I have since found another dds, and I now have a huge smile.. read more

This guy is a joke! My husband needed a tooth pulled and because of an upcoming surgery he was having, he needed to be sure there was no infection. Dr. did x-rays and without even looking said his mouth was full of infection---which we later found was not the case. Never looked in his mouth, checked the tooth or anything. Needless to say my husband walked out and because we knew someone he was seen immediately by a professor at the U of R School of dentistry where he had the tooth pulled and was told NO INFECTION. Surgery---which was for an abdominal aortic aneurysm---went very well. This guy---a so called dentist---knowing that my husband had a ticking time bomb in his gut---did nothing but put more stress on an already stressful situation for no reason. I firmly believe that he just doesn't care and is just looking at dollar signs. Our family will no longer be patients of his and I would tell anyone that asked not to go to him. read more
