My parents and I have been a patient of Dr. Glass for many years now. I discovered that my former, retired, colleague and her family are patients of Dr. Glass too. His practice looks like a house from the outside and is beautifully landscaped. It looks very inviting from the outside. Parking can be challenging for those such as myself who can't parallel park well on the street. The inside is very well kept. There is a nice waiting room that has magazines and even toys and books for toddlers. I also like that they have a water cooler. The staff are all friendly, professional, thorough, and adept. When I come in for my bi-annual cleaning I generally get Patricia who is pleasant and makes the time go by. Today I came in to have two fillings for my receding gum. Dr. Glass was thorough in explaining the procedure and said if I experienced any discomfort to let him know, and I did, not too long after he started. He frequently checked to see if I was doing ok. I started seeing Dr. Glass when I was living in Germantown and after I stopped seeing a dentist for a few years. He and his staff didn't make me feel bad about it and cleaned me up very well. I don't love going to the dentist (I feel like I'm a car at the auto shop), but Dr. Glass is as gentle as they get. I later moved to DC and my insurance changed, so I attempted to find a new local dentist. Well, said dentist removed one of my one fillings and replaced it, because he just felt like it would look nicer. Fast forward a few months and I -swallowed- said filling and frantically called Dr. Glass for an appointment. I was fit in promptly and worked up thoroughly - the tooth was ruined and I would need my first root canal. Dr. Glass smoothed out my tooth in the mean time, referred me to dentist to do the root canal (he was also good, but no Dr. Glass), and then had me back to do a temporary crown as he sent away for a permanent crown to be made. Even if Dr. Glass isn't in network for my new dental insurance (though services are partially covered), even if it's a 45-minute drive out, I'll be going to Dr. Glass, because once you find a good dentist, you don't leave 'em! Once upon a time in America doctors and other medical professionals actually believed in their Hippocratic Oath and put their patients first and foremost, not their wallets. Dr. Glass is an example of the old school where he actually cares about his patients sincerely, not just for show or for Yelp reviews. I had to have a tooth repaired, one of my front teeth. The standard dentist response from all the other dentists was the usual root canal, crown, extra X-rays, and a total price tag close to $2,000 for a single tooth. Way out of my budget. All I wanted was to not have a gaping hole in my teeth when I smiled. I explained this to Dr. Glass, and he created a bonding solution that fixed the gap beautifully AND durably for just $275, which meant a huge amount to me as a person living on retirement income. Not only did he do it for this reasonable price, he did an outstanding job of it too, and quickly, with just one visit. Today the tooth still works and looks great, functions perfectly, and I feel like a new man thanks to being able to smile and laugh without being self-conscious again. I give full credit to Dr. Glass. Dr. Glass is truly a throwback to the days of the most admired personal dentists and doctors of yesteryear. His office is an older converted Gaithersburg residence, giving everything an old-school country doctor feel; his receptionists and staff are personable, kind, and good-natured. No shaming anywhere near this place. He works with people to get the job done right and in a way that is mutually acceptable. A great dentist up and down with no asterisk. I could go on. But the bottom line is that if you are looking for the real deal in a great, no-ripoff, personable professional, you absolutely cannot do better than Dr. Thomas Glass. Five stars EASY. read more

I recently moved to Maryland from Massachusetts where I had a dentist that I absolutely loved. Having teeth that are unfortunately prone to cavities, I tend to spend A LOT of time at the dentist every year. It was absolutely imperative that I find a new dentist that I felt comfortable with. I can't remember how I found Dr. Glass (since I am the first review on Yelp!), but I am so glad I did. I have already visited with him... three times I think, and I've had a cleaning, xrays, some cosmetic work, and a crown! He and his staff are great. They are very friendly and welcoming. Not everybody has the perfect teeth,so when I went, I was expecting the same thing that I normally do when going to the dentist. Boy, i was surprised! Staff is just wonderful, Dr. Glass is wonderful and wants to make sure you are taken care of with little pain as possible. I hate needles and didnt even feel those. We all have to go, but dont dread this one, he'll take good care of you and will do his best to do it with little or no pain at all. My cleanings are always top notch, and never painful or even uncomfortable, and I have sensitive teeth and gums. Both the hygienist and Dr. Glass himself make sure to provide the service that is most appropriate and comfortable for you and your particular case, and they always allot the proper amount of time for each visit, so that you're well cared for and never rushed.  They are keen to make recommendations to ensure your dental health (as well they should), but they never try to pressure you; they understand and respect the fact that a patient's healthcare decisions are in his/her hands first.  And the receptionist is always nice and smiling! =D Oh! I just had THE best experience here. Everyone here is exceptionally gentle, friendly, knowledgeable, and really took the time to talk me through the entire process (from insurance/intake to procedures). The setting is also quite relaxing. In my adulthood, I've developed a fear of dentists -- I've had numerous bad experiences in my attempt to find a regular dentist. I've been coming to Dr. Glass for several years now and have felt extremely satisfied with each visit. His staff, including the office secretary, are all very warm and courteous. They consistently take the time to explain procedures to their patients in advance, and to answer questions in a thoughtful manner. There is clearly an emphasis on developing a solid rapport with patients and making sure they feel comfortable. The office itself is not only impeccably clean, as you would expect of a dentist's office, but also neatly decorated in a way that puts patients at ease and makes you feel at home. It is also conveniently located (at least for me) and has plenty of street parking around. The office often sends scheduling or appointment reminders by text and email, which is very helpful to those of us on the go. They are quick to process billings, I've found, and very approachable when it comes to any billing or insurance questions. read more

If I could give 100 stars I would. Here's why. Dr. Glass has gone above and beyond what one would expect of their dentist on multiple occasions. 1. After receiving years of superb dental care I was heartbroken to move across country and lose Dr. Glass as my primary dentist. That didn't stop Dr. Glass from helping. On one occasion he, on very short notice, reviewed the x-rays and recommendations being given to me by a dentist in my new location. Dr. Glass' keen eye and smart advice saved me hundreds of dollars in non-urgent procedures being recommended by the other dentist. 2. Again on short notice, Dr. Glass sacrificed his lunch hour to take a look at the dental work done by the other dentist during one of my very short visits to DC. Not only did he find that the other dentist had botched a filling, he FIXED IT ON THE SPOT. His lunch hour was spent giving me a new filling. If this isn't impeccable patient care I'm not sure what is. I've never felt this way about any healthcare provider, and certainly not a dentist (my number one childhood phobia). Hands down, one of the best experience I've had at a dental office. I've been to here twice for cleaning and once to have a night guard created. All three times the staff have been very pleasant. They do a great job scheduling because I never had to wait. At my last cleaning I was 5 mins. early yet the hygienist greeted me right away. Dr. Glass gives good advice on how to take care of my teeth. For example, beware of sport drinks like gatorade because of the high acid content which can damage the enamel. He doesn't 'upsell' his service either. I feel very comfortable dealing with him. For cleanings, I've only had Dee. The chair in her office has a built in massager!!! Seriously, it doesn't get much better than this. Actually, it does because Dee is so nice to talk to that I look forward to seeing her. A++++ dental office. Would do business again. read more

Excellent dentist . I had some cavities that had to be filled--one large, and 2 small. He only uses the necessary amount of anesthesia. When it wore off, I had no pain, and went shopping afterwards. He works with dental plans. read more

We have been searching for a good Dentyst for our mom. It took us months until we found Dr. Glass. Our mom gets very anxious about going to the dentist. Night before her appointment with Dr. Glass she didn't sleep much. After the visit with Dr. Glass, that has changed. I brought her in today for her filling appointment and she was very happy. I'm looking forward to my appointment with Dr. Glass. Nevertheless, I plan on bring my 4 year old for her next appointment with Dr. Glass as well. His office is tranquil and peaceful. My family and I have been patients of Dr. Glass for many years, and have always received precise, thorough, friendly, and gentle service. This summer, though, Dr. Glass was truly phenomenal. I was due to fly out on a vacation early on a Monday morning, but that Sunday evening at dinner I bit down on a mouthful and felt, to my horror, a crown detach from one of my molars. What to do? I had an exposed root, it was a weekend night, and 12 hours til my flight. In desperation, I phoned Dr. Glass's voicemail. I left a message asking if he might squeeze me in and glue it back temporarily if I showed up at 8 AM on Monday when his office opened. About an hour later, I got a call from Dr. Glass himself, who had actually checked his voicemail on a Sunday night. Although his office opened at 8, he told me to show up the next morning at 7:15 AM and he'd fix it. I did as he directed, and he sat me down and did a complete reattachment and sealing of the crown. In this day and age, who does things like this? Going out of his way, coming in early, helping me have a perfect vacation--he didn't have to do this, but its typical of the standard of professionalism and genuine care Dr. Glass shows to his patients. read more

I very rarely write reviews on yelp, but Dr. Glass is so amazing that I felt I had to. My previous experience with dentists has always been so unpleasant. They're either not very nice, or they make everything hurt, or they always feel like they're trying to scam you into getting more things done (one Dentist told me I had to pull out my four wisdom teeth when I only actually have three of them). Dr. Glass is exactly the opposite- he has to be one of the nicest people I've ever met, he's so gentle, and he is a very trustworthy and great dentist. I have pretty bad teeth (genetics!), but try my best to take care of them. While I have fillings in almost every tooth and a couple of crowns, I still floss every single night and brush several times a day with prescription fluoride toothpaste. That being said, it's kind of embarrassing having to explain this when I find a new dentist. And embarrassment is certainly what I felt when I visited Dr. Glass for the first time. I'll agree that the office is clean and sterile, and staff is friendly. However, Dr. Glass essentially spent several minutes accusing me of having a terrible diet, and interrogating me based on what I eat/drink. He was convinced that my "terrible" habits must have caused my dental situation - and couldn't possibly be cause by genetics or my teeth spacing. He essentially made me list what I eat and drink, and was not impressed to find that I was a generally healthy adult who drinks 90% water. When I admitted to having roughly one cup of coffee a week with a teaspoon of honey in it - he looked as if he had won the lottery, and immediately instructed me to ONLY use sugar free sweeteners in coffee. He also felt very excited to hear that I sometimes suck on cough drops when I get sick roughly once every 1-2 year. Thanks a lot. Anyway, Dr. Glass recommended 4 crowns, including replacing one because he "didn't like how it looked." No, it wasn't structurally unsound or harming me whatsoever. He just saw $$$ when he saw me and figured he could make bank on my mouth. I went for a second opinion and was informed I did not need ANY crowns. Thanks, Dr. Glass. Will not be returning here! Update: after being verbally attacked by Dr. Glass via private message and public response, I guess I must update my review to reflect it. Not sure how my past reviews indicate my "mean-spiritedness and vindictiveness" (50% of my reviews are for 5-stars!) however - his response should indicate just what kind of person Dr. Glass is. The kind of person who, unfortunately, is unable to hear negative feedback - and instead of reflecting upon his bedside manner and treatment of patients, decides to take to the Internet to verbally attack a young woman - yikes. read more

this is the most kind and gentle dentist!!! take it from me, when i had to have a root canal, i went to this dentist and for life of me i can not remember his name...but not only was i freaked out about my first root canal, i was freaked out from that big, mean and high strung root canal guy...i was shaking so bad, they couldn't keep my mouth from chattering, so they shoved a block in my mouth so he could get the job done. plus it was rude of him to say "what noise, i don't hear any noise" when i mentioned that his drills or whatever they use was right next to my ear drum and was really loud...what a jerk! anyway back to dr. glass, he made me feel welcomed and someone i could trust to take xrays and a check up to see what was going on. now instead of telling me the laughing gas would help n get to work on my horrible teeth, he was soooo honest!!! with the amount of work that needs to be done and him knowing my history of high anxiety and ptsd...he said he would do some research on a dentist that could put me out with anaesthesia bcuz it would just be too painful for someone like me...i was shocked that a doctor/dentist is willing to take time out of his busy day to really help me! not only do i recommend dr. glass for being kind and gentle, but instead of doing the same thing for all patients, he really goes from case to case, person to person and evaluates each person. i really wish dr. glass could take my case because he's so nice and has a calm demeanor, but also glad he was 100% honest and gave his option what would be best!! so i definitely give dr. glasser's and his staff 5 stars!!!!!! read more
