Tuesday, Oct 25 I had lumbar L4-5 L5S1 nerve decompression laminectomy by Dr Paul Canale, Canale Spine Institue Baldwin Bone and Joint. From the milli nano second I walked into the doors of Thomas Hospital I was immediately greeted with happiness and smiles. Genuine care and concern. And then immediately taken to pre op. As a retired RN with surgical experience I have to tell you that my faith in the nursing profession and healthcare has just been restored because of this experience. Amy RN preop. Thank you. You are outstanding. Dr. Neil, anesthesiologist, thank you for allowing me to skip the Versed. I love to talk. Then Ryland OR RN comes in with an Auburn shirt on with my Auburn wearing husband sitting right there. So I knew I was in GREAT hands. The entire OR crew thank you for taking excellent care of me. And to my good looking CRNA thank you for waking me up. No nausea. No pain. Kelly RN PACU. thank you I was admitted to room 3310 outpatient overnight due to a drain that had been inserted. Let me say that the administration and Mignon RN manager of 3rd floor have instilled an incredible atmosphere of happiness, positive attitude, sincere care love and concern for their patients. And trust me I was up close and personal with all of them. They will tell you why. I have never experienced such happiness on everyone I encountered from the receptionist to the insurance person the entire OR personnel including anesthesia department. Remember you pay them to wake you up not put you to sleep. So never lie to your anesthesia healthcare provider. Kudos cheers and hats off to the most incredibly awesome surgical experience of my 69 year plus life!!!!! ps this goes for Mike, Case Manager and the young man who transported me to my husbands truck who btw knew that the bed count of Thomas Hospital is 162. Safety does indeed come first but the genuine care, concern , pride and love of their profession glows on every face. Thank you so very much Inyce Lapine pss I got the walker. I am 2 years new tho the Baldwin county area and have experienced a couple of the hospitals. Thomas is by far superb and no need to go anywhere else. I do have to travel a little way to get there but the care received is by far worth the drive. Today I went for some testing, from start of the receptionist,to finish it was great! I had a little bump when registering because of my insurance and Chris was on it, and handled it. Into Radiology and I had 2 super techs who made the process quite fun for what it was. They both made me feel relaxed and comfortable and a few laughs to boot . Along with the radiologist, super nice guy, they ALL made this a very pleasant experience. In and out in less than an hour....WOW! Hats off Thomas!!! read more

This Hospital is great!!! I had an Hysterectomy a week ago by " Dr. Henderson" and everything was perfect. The staff is amazing, very clean, very helpful, everyone was very nice. I stayed one night and all the nurse staff was incredible! Anytime I needed something they were right there including my husband. When I got home from the Hospital the next day I received a get well card from all the nurses & staff & signed by all the team that helped me. "Thank You For That" Would recommend anyone to this Hospital. So happy that I had a great experience. Surgery is stressful enough but coming to this Hospital wasn't stressful at all!! I was released 12/11/16 after triple by-pass and felt I needed to let everyone who had a hand in my stay know that I appreciate the top notch professional caring that I received. Last Sunday evening my adult daughter had to go to the ER with a life threatening emergency. Dr. Oliver and her assigned nurse, Colby, were excellent. The ER was very busy and hospital full, but the care given by Dr. Oliver, Colby, and the staff was kind, responsive, and supportive to my daughter. She had to stay there until the next day due to a lack of available beds. After she was transferred to a room my daughter said the nurses there were also conscientious and efficient. We are grateful for these dedicated health professionals and my daughter's full recovery. read more

I took my 17 yr son in the ER with pains in his chest and back of neck. They gave him twice the adult dosage of pain meds before seeing the doc. They did NO MRI or CT scan. Claimed he had pleurisy and sent us home. He DIED 11 days later with an aortic aneurysm. He had a small tear in his aorta that morning and 11 days later had a large rip that killed him. A trip to the ER has always been a nerve-wracking experience. However, yesterday morning before dawn, i went for what turned out to be a ruptured abcess on my calf. I was checked in IMMEDIATELY then taken to a room where a doctor came in about 5 minutes later. I didn't even have time to get a nap! Fast, efficient and thorough. I even had time for a Waffle House breakfast with my husband before he had to go to work. The level of care has drastically improved over the last 5 years. read more
