Southern "Rapid" Care isn't so rapid. They promised my husband that he would be in and out for a TB test (they promised 15 minutes) and it took him threatening to leave multiple times and asking for a refund for him to FINALLY get the test done after waiting 50 minutes. My wife and i both went in with flu-like symptoms on 2/1/2025 in the morning. They were out of testing supplies for the flu, so we agreed to be treated as if we were positive. We were prescribed cough medicine, and a single dose flu medication. No stores in the Gulf Shores area had the flu medication, so we called back to ask them to change the prescription to Tamaflu. They wouldnt answer their phones, and did not respond to the message we left at the nurses station. It was the last day of our window to be able to take any flu med, and it was a 1 and 1/2 hour round trip to travel back to their office. Extremely frustrating! My wife and i are both in our upper 60's, and now we are in day 6 of our symptoms, which are not improving. read more

We chose this place after a bad experience at South Baldwin Urgent Care. The folks here are ways less uptight & have a number of nurse practitioners with a DO as their medical director. Gotta check out #1 son's swollen eye plus getting a COVID test while we're here to maximize $40 copay because I'm like that :-) So, first of all, this place had zero Covid-19 restrictions in place which was weird because the first urgent care had someone at the door taking temps, handing out masks, screening people and the waiting room was empty with plexiglass separating the intake folks, I mean full throttle stuff. But this place was if COVID wasn't even a thing with zero precautions, screening, or separations so that was pretty weird, but we needed to see someone and this was the only place within a reasonable distance. The waiting room and inner facilities were modern and comfortable with everything necessary for urgent care. Matt got an ECG and portable chest x-ray without delay but I take issue with the immediate insertion of an IV line without any clear indication that a line with indicated. In addition, the attendant drew a number of tubes of blood for testing and every one of them had to drawn again because, according to the soon to arrive phlebotomist, the new IV setup hemolyzed the blood and made it impossible to test, so that's a problem that she said the nurses should be aware of, duh. According to the doc she thought Matt's x-ray looked like fluid around his heart which would be indicative of congestive heart failure (CGF), potentially. She blew off his inflamed eye because CHF is very serious so despite the radiologist interpretation of the film, which said no pneumonia or other fluid issues such as pulmonary edema, and his battery of chemistry's being within normal range and including his cardiac enzymes, the doc called the ER and told us to go there immediately. I wasn't at all convinced of CHF but certainly wasn't going to gamble that I was wrong. So we headed to the ER which also had mucho precautions in place and several hours later and $10,000 of ER charges (just got the bill and am amazed that the places have the nerve to charge these rates) he got a clean bill of health and we were at Whataburger (down the road on the way home) because we we had all missed dinner. SMH Bottom line: The staff was okay, the doc was really attentive but eventually turned out to be incorrect in her assumptions so there's that. I may just need to find another urgent care if #1 son ever needs to get a quick opinion. P.S. A COVID test never happened read more

Absolutely no precautions for COVID, despite being a testing site. At least half the people in the waiting room are not wearing masks. There is no sanitizer. One of the patients asked to wait in her car to reduce exposure, and have them call her when it was her turn, but she was denied because they are "too busy". I came in for stitches. I am getting blood everywhere and I have not been given anything to mitigate the situation while waiting. The staff seems very friendly, but I'm honestly terrified by the haphazard and lackadaisical approach to medical care here. read more

I had to take my son in for ear pain, while on vacation. The front lady was very sweet and got us checked in quickly. We waited in the waiting room for about 30 minutes and then called back. The doctor was great and very thorough with checking and diagnosis. Was there maybe a total of an hour. Got our antibiotics quickly and back at the beach in no time. Be careful with your bills. Their third party billing company was incompetent at collecting from insurance. It took many phone calls over many months to find someone that can actually help regarding billing. They threatened to send me to collections because of their own billing incompetence. I tried contacting the actual office about my billing issues and no one returned my call. The care was ok. Expect an NP not an MD. read more

We are here for a family vacation and my 13 year old daughter has been running a fever for about 48 hours. It's always a bummer to be sick on vacation. Southern rapid care got us in immediately. She was diagnosed right away with an inner ear infection. They were able to submit the proper prescription and we were back at the condo enjoying our vacation by afternoon. The process and employees from check in through check out were amazing. They will bring us piece of mind knowing we can get good care in this area when we visit again next year. read more

I'm not one to leave bad reviews for places.... but I feel like i need to share my experience today because I would hate for this to happen to someone else in my shoes. Today I took my 14 month old in to be seen for an ear infection and was DENIED health care because my family and i are from New York. While I understand there is a fear and panic with the COVID-19 pandemic, I was shook to my core that a facility would deny a minor health care. The nurse that came out and spoke to me was beyond sweet (literally the only good thing to say about this place is this woman), welled up with tears while telling me that she had to deny my daughter per the doctors orders. When I asked why she said it's because the state is requiring anyone from New York be denied and sent to the ER. For the record.... I have been in Alabama for the the past two weeks and am past the incubation period that the new law, that came out two days ago, requires for New Yorkers be in quarantine. For the record- I am not disputing the safety and protocols with this virus. Their doors clearly state that they do no testing for the virus there so I obviously would not have brought my daughter there if I thought she needed to be tested. Again, I brought her in for an ear infection. My family then called back to have them explain to us again the reasoning and they told us they reserve the right to deny anyone health care because they are a private practice and have the right to do so. They also said they explained to me it's protocol for them but when all they actually said to me was because of where we're from, they can't see her. So cheers to you Rapid Care for denying a healthy, 14 month old health care because she is from the state of New York. read more

This urgent care REFUSED CARE for my husband when he was verge of HEAT STROKE on May 6, 2019. All because the person who drove him, forgot to grab his ID. Nor would the staff give him ice or water while his friend fetched his ID. They NEVER CHECKED HIS VITALS. My husband is a local of 32 years who works on the beach for 14 hours a day and has done so for years. The two Women at the front desk just taunted him because he was ill, while refusing care. He was vomiting, cramping, and about to pass out. The situation was dire, he had stopped sweating. Luckily, he is a National Guard Medic who had an old saline bag. I was so sick and searched for an urgent care to go to, being from out of town I wasn't sure where to go. I checked yelp and found Southern Rapid Care, best decision I could have made. The entire staff was amazing, they took such good care of me and made sure I was comfortable throughout the entire visit. They were so professional and skilled, they did more test than I thought and really helped me. This place and more importantly the staff is as good as it gets, way better than any hospital I've been too. If you're in the area and need care, don't hesitate, they can and will help you!! Chose this place because of the high rating. My son had an ear infection so we came in to get it looked at. When we came in the receptionist was talking to a lady who I assumed was a friend. We signed in and sat down. Another gentlemen walked in and up to the counter and another lady gave him paperwork to fill out. About 2 minutes later we were given paperwork. We filled it out and turned it in. The other gentleman was called back before us. I brought it to the receptionist attention and she said that they go by the order. I said no you don't because I watched the process take place. Another lady told me to settle down, which I was loud or obnoxious just stating a point, she was the one that gave the other gentleman the paperwork. Needless to say the PA came back and apologized for what happened. They saw my son very quickly and got us on our way. My 20-year-old daughter went to the clinic on December 23, 2020 with a swollen eye. We were afraid that it was a spider bite, but it turned out to be an abscess from an ingrown hair in her eyebrow. I wasn't able to go with her since I was at work, but I went to the clinic as soon as I got off. I didn't see her in the lobby, so I texted her to ask if she wanted me to come in. She asked them if I could come in, and they told her no. A while later she texted that they tried to give her a shot of Rocephin, and when she told them that she couldn't take that, they said that they had to give her an injection of antibiotics, and they gave her two shots of something else, one in each hip. The pain of the injections was overwhelming, and she texted that she was going to need for me to drive her home. I came into the lobby to get her and asked the receptionist if I could go back there and get her. She told me to wait, that they were going to help her out to the lobby. I saw a wheelchair in the lobby and wondered if they would use one to get her to the car. I texted my daughter and told her that they were going to help her out and she texted back and said that they were not helping her, instead they were standing outside of the door and laughing at her. I was shocked and incredulous at that, but at that moment I could hear laughing through the door and I thought it was extremely rude and insensitive for people to be laughing when someone was in excruciating pain nearby. The receptionist told me that I could get my daughter, then she went in the back, and when I opened the door, my daughter was being supported on one side by the receptionist. I ran to support her on the other side. She was crying, was clearly in extreme pain, and could barely walk from the effects of the injections that they administered. We struggled to push open the heavy doors to leave, and a kind stranger ran to help and stayed with my daughter as I went to get the car and thankfully, he helped me get her into the car. I called the clinic later to find out exactly what they had given her in those injections since there was nothing on her paperwork that noted it. Sheila Stephens, the nurse practitioner, told me that they don't provide paperwork for injections. She got oral permission from my daughter to tell me what she administered. She had left the building right after she had treated my daughter and had not witnessed what occurred afterward, but she made excuses for her coworkers' behavior and tried to vouch for their integrity and negate what I heard and saw with my own eyes of their cruelty and callousness toward my daughter. I will never go back to this clinic and I will tell everyone that I know not to go to this clinic. read more

Sometimes you find yourself standing at a music festival with your throat swollen, your ear pounding, a minor sinus explosion and an infected gash on your calf (from a previous engagement)...and it's day 1. You need to survive the weekend. A quick Yelp search brought me over to Southern Rapid Care and they were fantastic! Walked into a clean, modern facility offering seemingly any medical procedure you might need. Check-in was fast and I was in-and-out in 20 min or so (including filling out new patient forms). The doctor and nurse were all upbeat and sweethearts. A few shots, a few rx, and 4 hrs later I was poolside watching Manchester Orchestra. Not the worst. They gave me a prescription for flexeril and 2 cortisone shots. I went in crippled like a old lady, and later got into the ocean and cooked dinner for 7.!!!! I was on vacation and came down with a sinus infection on my first day! I was referred to this location and couldn't have been more pleased. I was in and out in less than 45 minutes even with paperwork as a new patient. My RN (I believe her name was Morgan) was so nice and Dr. Cameron prescribed me two steroid shots and (1) antibiotic. If I hadn't of seen them my vacation would have been ruined. Thank you to the Southern Rapid Care team for making my well again. I had a facial type rash. This actually was close to a year ago, 08/2019. I saw Elizabeth Machon. She was wonderful! I can't say enough good things about her. All the staff was pleasant! The facility was clean and attractive. I'm sorry to mention that, but I do notice the cleanliness of a doctor's office. Now my husband and I are back on vacation. My husband and are have been on vacation in the orange beach area since January. Unfortunately we both got influenza a and b. We were both very sick. We went to southern rapid care and received the best care ever from all the staff and the nurse practitioner Elizabeth michon. It was amazing, quick, thorough, on site labs and less than 15 minutes wait time. I highly recommend this urgent care to anyone with a health related issue while in this area. Highly recommend! Our daughter woke up with a case of pink eye. Fortunately, it was a light day at this location, but the process was very streamlined nevertheless. Everyone we encountered was friendly and accommodating. The diagnosis was quick and we were out the door in less than 35 minutes. By the time we got to the CVS in Orange Beach (a little less than two miles away), the prescription was ready. Our total time round trip was under an hour. read more

Very clean, kind and professional. Walked in with a bad upper repiratory infection ans very angry at being on valuable vacation time. Doctor prescribed a shot of antibiotic and a shot of steroid and some follow up meds. Within a couple hours I was back on my feet feeling way better. Shots are not really routinely prescribed where Im from and I wonder why. Anyway if your sick and on vacation this is the place to go. Very nice people too. read more
