The whole process from receiving a quote to doing the work to tidying the worksite was excellent and went smoothly. I was very impressed with the team's professionalism, communication, and job quality. One tree in particular was in a difficult position, but the crew was able to delicately remove it without damaging surrounding items. Another tree was leaning out over a neighbor's property, and the team was able to remove it without having any part of the tree fall outside our property. If you need any work done on your trees, especially if you have a steep slope and need to worry about restoration and erosion control, I would highly recommend Thomas J Tree & Garden Care. We hired Tom to remove a large tree from a steep slope in our yard. We also needed to do erosion control, restoration of the surrounding area, and to install some rock steps along the hill to provide easy access to the impacted area. We have been very happy with the work done so far. It's awesome to work with an arborist who knows and cares about trees and native plants. Tom and his team are professional, responsive, and easy to work with. My previous experiences with tree service have all been bad, but I finally found a good company! The tree was quite a challenging tree to remove, and Tom himself ended up being the climber that day. He brought 3 other guys to set up a rig on several other of our trees in order to safely bring this one down. It was so cool to watch these guys work -- they are true specialists and experts. Our permit required that we leave large logs on the slope to act as nurse logs, and Tom made sure to arrange our logs carefully so they wouldn't roll down our hill. When we gave feedback about placement he had his crew fix up the logs so we were happy with them. The tree snags themselves look nice as well -- previous contractors we worked with left these awkward stumps, but the snag actually looks naturally integrated into the landscape. One last great thing about working with Tom and his team is he doesn't just cut down trees -- they do end to end care of your landscape. Our job involved tree removal, erosion control, AND landscaping. Most of the other bids I got for the job involved working with several companies -- landscaping, then tree service. It's much nicer to be able to work with just one company. We also asked Tom to install some steps on the slope for us, which was a bit out of his company's normal scope. The steps turned out beautifully! In summary, if you need any work done on your trees, I would highly recommend Thomas J Tree & Garden Care. We were in need of having a stump pulled out and getting some information regarding possible deseased cedar trees. I had experienced less than positive results and responses from other tree companies. Tom was quick to respond to my needs and came out to examine my tees within a couple of days. He gave me a quote the same day for the removal of my stump and scheduled the removal the following week. I decided one day before the work was to be done to see about getting another stump removed. I am pleased to report that the work done on our site by these folks on September 2, 2021 was superb in all aspects- from the efficient and courteous cost estimation of individual tasks, prompt scheduling and timely arrival of the crew, their knowledge of the details of the tasks and their knowledge of the trees, their care and efficiency in climbing trees, pruning large branches and making sure that when debris was moved from the site to their chipper no mess was left and none of my plants in the garden were damaged. Tom and his team are amazing! I hired them to do tree pruning/removal and a complete landscape design and installation of our entire front yard. Tom is very knowledgeable and was so patient with me as we picked out exactly what I wanted. I told him I wanted some color blooming at all times and we didn't want to have to water a ton (once established). He put together a gorgeous design. I didn't know the names of many plants he suggested so it took some research on my part too but I loved everything he came up with! I did go back and forth with him when I didn't like a few suggestions but he was so patient with me and just offered other options until we found something I loved. Unfortunately the whole design he came up with was out of our budget but once I explained what our budget was, he recommended the adjustments we could do to stay within budget and still have a beautiful yard! When it came to do the work, he had a huge team come in and they performed the work faster than predicted. They were professional and took the time to explain things and answer any questions I had.
