Prices are in line with going rates for the area. Office staff is very communicative, which is essential. This company felt like the perfect in between of "just a tree guy and his saw" and "a tree company(TM)". They had a lot of opportunities to take advantage of me due to my particular situation but they did not. I felt that they were respectful, helpful, and honest throughout the entire process. If/when I need pruning services again, I will definitely consider hiring this company. read more

Highly recommend Tom and his team for landscaping work. Quick responses, great work, thorough clean up.

We have used Thomas J Tree & Garden Care twice in two years, and would use them again. The whole process from receiving a quote to doing the work to tidying the worksite was excellent and went smoothly. I was very impressed with the team's professionalism, communication, and job quality. One tree in particular was in a difficult position, but the crew was able to delicately remove it without damaging surrounding items. Another tree was leaning out over a neighbor's property, and the team was able to remove it without having any part of the tree fall outside our property. Tom and his crew, including the office personnel, were attentive and sincere. For example, a snowstorm forced the delay of one of our projects, and the firm worked with us to reschedule on one of the few days that worked for us. Thomas J Tree & Garden exceeded my expectations. read more

If you need any work done on your trees, especially if you have a steep slope and need to worry about restoration and erosion control, I would highly recommend Thomas J Tree & Garden Care. We hired Tom to remove a large tree from a steep slope in our yard. We also needed to do erosion control, restoration of the surrounding area, and to install some rock steps along the hill to provide easy access to the impacted area. We have been very happy with the work done so far. It's awesome to work with an arborist who knows and cares about trees and native plants. Tom and his team are professional, responsive, and easy to work with. My previous experiences with tree service have all been bad, but I finally found a good company! I will definitely hire his team any time I need work done on our trees in the future. More details on the job below... The tree was quite a challenging tree to remove, and Tom himself ended up being the climber that day. He brought 3 other guys to set up a rig on several other of our trees in order to safely bring this one down. It was so cool to watch these guys work -- they are true specialists and experts. Our permit required that we leave large logs on the slope to act as nurse logs, and Tom made sure to arrange our logs carefully so they wouldn't roll down our hill. When we gave feedback about placement he had his crew fix up the logs so we were happy with them. The tree snags themselves look nice as well -- previous contractors we worked with left these awkward stumps, but the snag actually looks naturally integrated into the landscape. One last great thing about working with Tom and his team is he doesn't just cut down trees -- they do end to end care of your landscape. Our job involved tree removal, erosion control, AND landscaping. Most of the other bids I got for the job involved working with several companies -- landscaping, then tree service. It's much nicer to be able to work with just one company. We also asked Tom to install some steps on the slope for us, which was a bit out of his company's normal scope. The steps turned out beautifully! In summary, if you need any work done on your trees, I would highly recommend Thomas J Tree & Garden Care. I especially recommend this company if you have any work that needs to be done on a steep slope and need to worry about restoration and erosion control. read more

This was our second time using Thomas Tree & Garden for pruning of trees and shrubs. The experience was wonderful from beginning to end. Tom came out, did a thorough assessment and walk around with me. His bid was reasonable. The workers that came were very professional and again we walked the landscape to be clear about the work to be done. They completed the job that day, pruned our trees beautifully, and thoroughly cleaned up the mess. I highly recommend them. read more

Great Service. Prompt response and the crew was on time and communicated well. We were very pleased with the final result and will hire again. 10/10 read more

We were in need of having a stump pulled out and getting some information regarding possible deseased cedar trees. I had experienced less than positive results and responses from other tree companies. Tom was quick to respond to my needs and came out to examine my tees within a couple of days. He gave me a quote the same day for the removal of my stump and scheduled the removal the following week. I decided one day before the work was to be done to see about getting another stump removed. I sent a photo, received a quote that night and had both stumps removed. The crew was efficient, professional and easy to communicate with. They were finished in less than 2 hours and did a nice job cleaning up. I must say an overall great customer experience! I will not hesitate to use Thomas J Tree for all of my tree work in the future. Highly recommended! read more

We had Thomas Garden Care back for more work on pruning maple trees and once again they did a great job, cleaned up their work when finished and did it in a timely manner. These folks know plants, trees and experts at knowing what needs help now and what can wait. I highly recommend these folks because they give a fair bid, are on time and a very friendly and nice crew. You can tell they like what they do and know what they are doing while doing a good job. Thanks.............. read more

Tom and his crew provided exceptional service. I had three trees removed and replaced with new trees and had a larger tree pruned. Tom was patient and informative through the quoting process. The crew did an impeccable job. The yard was spotless after they were done. I would highly recommend for anyone getting tree work. read more

This is the second time we've had these fine folks out for our once-a-year massive trim. We have a challenging row of Leland Cypress that are around 20 feet high. This time they showed up with a cherry picker to hit the tops and it all went super smoothly. Their crews are extremely good at what they do, but also always smiling, friendly, and jovial. And let it be said, he has the best logo in the business! read more

It's been a long time since i've had someone way over-deliver in their work! We had Thomas J come for an estimate and he was right on time, after several confirmations. His price was very reasonable. He scheduled our work, and when the day arrived, he again confirmed, and was a bit early (after a heads-up!) The work was done efficiently and he left a very clean area. Additionally, his landscaping and plant knowledge is extraordinary, and he explains everything clearly. We are having him back for more work. We heard about him through a master gardener, who directed us to Plant Amnesty. He was on that list. Don't hesitate to call Thomas J! read more

Service from these guys could not be any better! It was clear from the consultation that they not only know and understand plants and trees, but they genuinely care. We were so impressed from day 1! I also was expecting the cost to be significantly more and that kept us from ever looking into a service. If you're even thinking about having a consultation and quote done, just do it. You won't be disappointed. We'll be having them back to maintain for as long as they're in business. My kids liked watching them climb the trees and then the wood chipper just made their morning...it's always a bonus when the kids are happy :) read more

Tom and his crew planted a lot of plants in our yard. He was very responsive and knowledgeable while we were finalizing the plans and choosing plants. On the day of install, his crew arrived on time, were very courteous and did amazing work. They even went above and beyond and filled all our other planting beds with mulch. Definitely recommend this company for any planting or tree care needs. read more

They have done work for me several times, removing trees and grinding stumps. The owner, Tom, took time to listen to questions during the bids. Thank you! I had Thomas and his team take care of some detailed tree work at my property, air spading to save 3 large trees, and the removal of 1 tree. Their customer service was great, Thomas really knows his stuff, Thomas and his team paid attention to detail and worked efficiently to minimize the disturbance on site. So thankful to have a great arborist team to take care of our trees! read more

This is the second time I availed myself to the expert arborist services by Thomas J. Tree and Garden care. As I mentioned in my first review after getting tree pruning and arborist services in November 2020, that I was so impressed with the courtesy, efficiency, cost, and cleanliness of the work by Tom Evans and his crew, that I will return to them for further work. I am pleased to report that the work done on our site by these folks on September 2, 2021 was superb in all aspects- from the efficient and courteous cost estimation of individual tasks, prompt scheduling and timely arrival of the crew, their knowledge of the details of the tasks and their knowledge of the trees, their care and efficiency in climbing trees, pruning large branches and making sure that when debris was moved from the site to their chipper no mess was left and none of my plants in the garden were damaged. They also were quiet and very thoughtful in their response to my questions and specific requests. If I could give them more than five-star rating, I would gladly give such a high rating. I have already recommended this company to several of my friends. I give my special thanks to Tom, Timcey (spelling?) and the crew. I was very pleased to see a young woman arborist, Beth? on their team Usha V. read more

Tom and his team are amazing! I hired them to do tree pruning/removal and a complete landscape design and installation of our entire front yard. Tom is very knowledgeable and was so patient with me as we picked out exactly what I wanted. I told him I wanted some color blooming at all times and we didn't want to have to water a ton (once established). He put together a gorgeous design. I didn't know the names of many plants he suggested so it took some research on my part too but I loved everything he came up with! I did go back and forth with him when I didn't like a few suggestions but he was so patient with me and just offered other options until we found something I loved. Unfortunately the whole design he came up with was out of our budget but once I explained what our budget was, he recommended the adjustments we could do to stay within budget and still have a beautiful yard! When it came to do the work, he had a huge team come in and they performed the work faster than predicted. They were professional and took the time to explain things and answer any questions I had. I can't wait for everything to grow and really fill in! I highly recommend Tom and his company and will use them again for any other work we need to do! read more
