I had been working with a well known pest control service for 6 years and what they were doing to get rid of our carpenter bees just wasn't working Someone recommended I try Thomas and I was so impressed with the young man, Da Mere, who came out to explore the place. He saw that not only do we have carpenter bees but we also have a big problem with carpenter ants. Part of the house was being eaten away by the carpenter ants. He was very thorough and knowledgable and I changed over to Thomas. I feel much more confident working with them and am already repairing part of the house that had been being destroyed by carpenter ants that our previous exterminator never even noticed. Don't go here. I canceled last year and I am glad that I did. The service had gone downhill over the year before, with rescheduling due to absent employees and - the last straw- failure to replace a bug station that was full and there for 3+ months. When I told Isus about it, she argued with me and refused to fix this simple problem. I'm not paying the full price for partial work. So, I cancel, and Tanya comes to pick the equipment up and tries to lecture me on not escalating the problem and that I'd have to pay for inspection to restart. Honey, I shouldn't have had to escalate, and if I need an exterminator again, it won't be your company. Congrats on helping to sour your company's image! Too many other options around to waste time with a company that treats the customer poorly. read more

I picked Thomas since it won the Times Union's readers poll. I could see the carpenter ants crawling up the side of my house and wasp-like insects flying 40 feet above ground level. It seemed that they all found a home in an opening in my home's siding. Too high to reach without a ladder and too low to treat from the roof. Thomas sent an estimator who arrived on time and studied the problems. He said that unfortunately, they had no way to access it. Another pest company offered to spray the spot using a long pole, but that's not how Thomas operates. They would have probably used a cherry picker to treat the entire side of the house, only my alley way was too narrow to fit that sort of machinery. It was a free consultation so he left without charging me anything. He suggested I use whatever insect traps and sprays that are available on the market. If anything changes, he suggested I call back. I was a bit disappointed but relieved that I didn't get a fast talking, pushy representative. A few days earlier, a rival company set a young man who took a look at my basement and declared I "might have termites even though there was no actual sign of them." He offered to put me on two payment plans, One for the termites that I didn't have and a second plan to spray the carpenter ant and wasps. They would return every month. That company will not be named. I hate plans. Thomas did not charge me for anything I didn't need and for that I'm grateful. Interestingly enough, when S & G Roofing came to give me a new roof, they encountered the wasps' nest and quickly took care of it so they could go about doing their jobs without getting stung! read more

Don't bother for yellow jackets or bees. Despite being "professionals" they won't remove trim or do anything to physically access and remove the nest, and will only treat the access point from the exterior. Could take 7-10 days to see improvement, maybe, despite being told 24-48 hours, and when you call back after no improvement it takes them another 3-4 days to schedule return visit. Save yourself the time and money and either do what they can do yourself, or call someone else who actually will remove and not just treat a nest. Not worth $30 let alone the $300 they charge. read more

Trying to break in on name recognition of a Hudson Valley predecessor and king of pest control, Thomas Pest Control. Don't be fooled like I was. Amateur at best not to mention a program of monthly pricing WAY more than any other local service. All I wanted for Christmas was to be pest-free but no such luck, even 2 months later. read more

This service offers a free consultation and the guy, Chris, who came out to the property was incredibly helpful, showing areas of the property that needed to be tended to and letting me know all that the company would provide. I was told that the initial service fee would be $315 dollar which he noted was "kind of expensive but covers a lot of things." The service is then another 80 dollars a month for upkeep and any pest emergencies needed. At the initial service, much of what was promised to me was not taken care of. When I complained the company let me know that I would have to wait an additional month for them to come back and finish at their upkeep appointment. They noted they would "try" at the next appt to get to one of the major areas I needed their assistance with, which was patching a hole under the house. When I noted that the service might not be worth the fees (i.e. i paid $315 dollars thus far to just have them put out mouse traps, ant bait and "exclusion" powder on parts of the house outside, they said if I cancelled my service, they'd have to come back to retrieve their mouse traps. Now I knew this was a rip off, as I had paid $315 to essentially borrow mouse traps. Perhaps if you have a good deal of money, it's nice to have a company coming to put out types of bait, but I'd rather just take care of these things myself and find another person to patch the hole under the home. read more

Have used Thomas Pest since we moved into our house in 2014. We got several estimates for service and Thomas was WAY less (by thousands) than the bigger outfits. Several mouse droppings and one 2:00am bedroom bat later (shudder ) we are still customers and still very pleased with their service; from the folks in office to the those who come to our home. Phil was the latest victim (I mean technician) to brave our ridiculous attic steps (built of plywood, toothpicks, and dread) and dogs. He was on time, conscientious, efficient but thorough, friendly and competent. Very thankful Thomas helps keep the pests outside. read more

Very pleased so far with my experience with Thomas Pest Services. They were extremely thorough trying to pinpoint the issues in and around my home. I received an actual report of their findings and steps going forward. Zack and Jeff were friendly, totally professional, and seemed to care about the issues within the home. I've had one other company a year ago which did not come close to the service I currently am receiving from Thomas Pest. The other company took my $ and never once followed up on some major problems we were having and basically told me bee season was over with when I contacted them this year which forced me to look elsewhere and that is how I found Thomas. requested service for what I thought was a squirrel issue. I only heard scratching so that was my guess. The issue ended up being bats. Everytime I would call after 'my service' was completed, they would tell me I'm being treated for squirrels. After several times explaining it was not for squirrels, it was for bats, and I actually never had a bat exposed and flying around my house until after I hired them! Fed up (having three bats in my house in a week), I called once again and was about to get a dissertation on my roof being the issue, I stopped them. I understand my roof is hard to access from the outside (because I have a forever roof over my original roof), but you should be able to access it from the inside! Needless to say, they have my money. I've called and asked (emailed on the web site once) to speak to a manager, I was told, "we don't let people really talk to the managers, but I can take a message." I've never heard of a business that doesn't allow you to talk to a manager. I've had no response from them by verbally leaving a message with a employee and I haven't received a response after completing a request on line. They have my money and I still have the problem I hired them to fix. BAD BUSINESS read more

Our home backs up to the woods, and we have had an-ongoing 'battle' with ants colonizing our rear patio, which is actually several feet above ground level. I had tried everything from traps to sprays, and finally called Thomas Pest Services. They looked over the situation and had their entomologist on staff call me to discuss what he would recommend for treatment - and, lo and behold, it not only worked, it has continued to work effectively throughout the season. We now use their on-going preventative service and are very satisficed with the results and the professionalism of their techs. read more

The supervisor from this place is not agreeable person. I'm a bit disappointed and dissatisfied with they service. First they said they would be considerate due to the pandemic but charged me the price of 3 visits because I paused my service due to non paying tenant. I agreed to restart service this month and called for them to clarify their findings on their receipt and report which needed to state that there was no infestation. Instead, I was told that I needed to get another visit from them... meaning wait for next service and spend more on their service. They also said they found moderate dropping nothing to indicate a problem...It let me to believe that they did Not care about my needs just about my money. My house is in Albany Ny. Having recently bought a neglected and unloved house, among the many projects we had included termite eviction. I was pretty freaked out about the whole thing so I got a couple of quotes. Bob from Thomas was my tech and was he thorough! He looked in closets, in the garage, got his hands in the soil, all the time staying focused and on topic. Not once did he use fear tactics or try to upsell me. Bob was professional, extremely knowledgeable and I felt very secure in his hands. Just to go through the process, we had the other company come out and what a difference! The sales guy talked our ears off for almost an hour - maybe 5 minutes of that was actual shop talk. He did a cursory run around the property and then started talking about not only a bait system, but trenching and tearing walls out. He said "all of our guys are construction certified". The minute we heard that a huge red flag went up for us. Now, I know termites are not to be taken lightly, but really. I spoke to my neighbors (it seems these little buggers are common in this forested area), and *none* of them had anything more than the in-ground systems and that was working for them all. Thomas Pest Services got our business - not only because they were professional, punctual and fair (and didn't talk our ears off about random nonsense), but treated us respectfully by not trying to clean us out. We wound up using their monthly pest control program, and it's been awesome. They came in earlier this year and sealed up as many entry points in our hundred-year-old house as they could. Horrible service they don't care about your property will just come and do the least work possible and will not resolve the problem do not get service from here there is plenty of other good pest services around. Fortunately Aaron at Thomas Pest Services was able to come in and pick up the pieces left behind by the first company I hired for the project. Aaron was helpful every step of the way. His insights during the initial inspection period were clear, as were his recommendations for remedying the bat problem. When Aaron came back to work on the house, he made sure to explain what his observations were and talked through his methods for resolving the issue. I haven't had a bat sighting since working with Thomas Best Services. And even if I do have another issues some point down the line, I will not hesitate to work with Aaron and the folks at Thomas Pest Services again to see the problem through. read more

Don't waste your money with this ridiculously overpriced company. They will charge $190 every 2 months but only show up every other month (they don't have a service where they come monthly), so really you are paying $190 for one service. And if you cancel they will charge for the following month despite the fact that they don't do anything and won't even show show up. I changed to another company, which charges $70/month and actually comes every month, instead of Thomas, which comes every other month and charges $190 And for the month they don't actually do anything. Their reduced pricing is $190 every 3 months but they will still only come once for the 3 month period . And their initial setup fee is actually $150 over the fee I was quoted at several other companies. Total waste of money. Why should I pay $95 for a month where they don't even come by? I should also add that the last time they came the guy spent 20 minutes at the house. read more

When I heard a new critter noise in my attic I didn't hesitate to call Thomas Pest Services back for an inspection. Once again they came in a few hours, did a thorough inspection and arranged for extermination and remediation within the week! I am once again critter free (2 years ago I had tiny critters in the basement, this time I had bigger critters in the attic!) and now have my entire house sealed up and can sleep again! We had Thomas Pest Service look at a house we were about to buy. We were told to leave a check with the realtor for a specific amount- we did. About 4 weeks later we got a call saying we forgot to pay the tax (that were never included in the bill originally sent to us from them) and received a bill for $6. I felt that they should have owned up to the mistake on their part. We paid $100 on an inspection which would have been free if we waited a weeks until we owned the home. I felt that they should have swallowed the cost of the taxes that they forgot to include rather than bothering us about it weeks later. I will not chose them for service in the future. read more
