It takes forever to wait!! I would rather they schedule a closer time to see patients so we don't have to expose ourselves here for such a long time to wait! Please change this, doctor. Just be honest and transparent with your patients. I understand you may need to take more patients than usual since you are back from somewhere. Train ur staff to work smart. Reconsider if it is too much patients in ur one day schedule. This is my only complaint so far and I sincerely hope this could be changed! Thank you! And also! My uncle had a gout attack in the afternoon on Monday and couldn't walk. We called the clinic to see if he can be seen but was told Dr Tseng was fully booked. , After explaining our situation, the receptionist was very sympathetic and said she would try to ask Dr Tseng for us and put us on a brief hold. After a few minutes, she told us Dr Tseng was willing to do telemed for my uncle if someone canceled their appointment or if my uncle was willing to wait for his call after their last patient. We were so happy and was willing to wait. About an hour later, they called us back and said someone didn't show up to their appointment, so he had enough to call my uncle. I've known Dr. Tseng longer than I have known most of my friends in L.A. In the eleven years since I first met him, I've had multiple changes in careers, relationships, homes and my health, but throughout it all he has been a constant. He probably knows me better than most of my co-workers and I only see Dr. Tseng for 10 minutes every couple months. His entire staff is friendly and though most speak Chinese as their primary language, English has never been a problem with him or the team. A year ago or so, the office moved to a new location which means the office is nice and modern. The place does get busy sometimes, however, the team always finds a way to get patients taken care of as quickly as possible while maintaining professionalism and friendliness. He cares for all his patients and that was the main reason that I recommended at least 10 patients from our Church. All thanked me for introducing a nice, caring doctor to them. There were times that we have to wait between 30 minutes to 90 minutes. The reason? Dr. Thomas Tseng answers all your inquiries. That naturally made the consultation longer than usual. This goes on and on with all other patients, resulting in longer waiting time than expected. If the doctor is in, waiting time is short but if he's on hospital emergency, waiting time is longer. My mom has been seeing this doctor for many years and like many other patients,she too complains about the wait time. When you visit this doctor, he doesn't take the time to examine you to check for your health condition. He just asks you what medications you need him to prescribe and he is done. It seems like he doesn't care about his patients. My mom blood pressure has been high according to her other specialist doctors, and Dr. Tseng continues to give her the same medications without realizing it. If you ask him too many questions, he gets impatience. He makes my mom feeling like he doesn't care about her health. I do think this doctor cares more about making money than the wellness of his patients. I am in the process of shopping for a better doctor for my mom. read more

Me and my family have been patients of Dr. Tseng for a few years now, I have referred family members from all ages and they have all been able to feel comfortable with Dr. Tseng and express their concerns and feel heard. Dr. Tseng has always paid close attention to all our concerns, no matter how big or small the issue may seem. I would like to express that the waiting time varies, there's days were it's very little wait and other times you might have to wait 30-45 minutes which I understand because Dr. Tseng never disregards his patients concerns or rushes through our visits, to me it's worth the wait because I leave feeling good and not like I wasted my time as I've unfortunately felt in other practices. PLEASE...this place needs to review the way they run their office. It appears they're more concerned with booking as many patients as possible than to provide quality service. Dr. Tseng has been keeping it real before real even existed... no lie! My family and I started to come here when we moved back to LA. In the past, I never really knew what a good doctor entailed. I found out what constituted as a good doctor when I got to college and used the student health clinic. There, they know the true meaning of serving patients and making sure their needs are met. Anyways, back to my story. Since graduating from college, I have been buying my own health insurance (independent women, throw your hands up at me). I decided to try Dr. Tseng due to my mom's accolades for this man. And, lesson learned, always listen to your mama! I scheduled a yearly exam via my trusty health insurance and they secured me to be the first patient on a Friday morning...nice! When I got there, I was one of the first ones to arrive, but they still let the regular patients in first (understandable because they need to clear with my health insurance first). When it got to my turn (25 minute wait), the nurse that checked my height and my weight measured it wrong, so I had to do it all over again at the end of my checkup. The nurse who helped me test all my other stuff (glucose levels, flexibility, blood pressure, etc) was super nice and informative. I liked how she was friendly and efficient so I could go back to work quick. Dr. Tseng was personable and pleasant in helping me plan a healthy way to lose weight (lost 21 lbs and counting!). He also gave me tips and suggested a followup check up. The rooms here are also very spacious and very very clean. Also like that they have a vast array of magazines for you to peruse during those long waits. Parking is sometimes hard to find because there are alot of patients for the other clinics and the hospital next door. Overall, hate the (understandable) long waits but love the service I get! I had some bug bites that turned into staph/MRSA infections and after finding out my previous doctor in LA disappeared I had to Yelp a new doctor and here I found Dr. Tseng! I read the 1 star review from the previous Yelper and had my reservations especially since my 4th year med school girlfriend accompanied me, we were really just there for a prescription that she can't write. After we met him, he is the most affable and natural doctor I've ever met. He's not imposing or condescending like some doctors I've experienced or force feeding a generic advice to rush on to the next patient. The doctors I experience come in, barely look at you, read your file, suggest something real quick and before you know it they're gone. Dr. Tseng takes a seat... In regards to the comment prior about the doctor disagreeing, my gf and I discussed this, and our personal opinions (disclaimer) are that he's a doctor! Doctors have to make informed decisions, and sometimes we don't like to hear what they may have to say. It's part of the profession. I mean, my gf didn't quite understand why he prescribed the way he did (granted she's only a student) but in the end, everything he did made perfect sense. The office is very clean and organized, but the wait stories are true. Every time I've visited there, I've had to wait 30-45 minutes even with an appointment. BUT... he really takes the time with his patients. He's never on the edge of his seat like he wants to hustle you away so he can bank on the next patient. He doesn't talk fast like answering your questions are trivial. He just calmly sits there until you feel assured you have every question you have answered for this visit. He speaks to you like a patient, and not like a child. SO, at the end of the day, I never mind waiting for him. I've visited him probably 4-5 times now (proudly the Duke of this doctor's office!) and it's been the same experience every time. If you're the type of person who wants to get in and out of a doctor's office and hear what you want to hear just to get a prescription, this is not the doctor for you. THE -'s: even with an appointment, you still end up waiting for 20 minutes on average. possibly due to the aforementioned detailed attention from the doc and his staff. I am very skeptical of doctors these days. My grandfather was an East Coast country doctor who would make house calls 24 hours a day if needed - toting his trusty alligator skin bag. I was pleased to discover that Dr. Tseng channels the "old school" spirit of a *real* doctor. From the pleasant but goal-oriented banter to the expert and not off-putting poking and prodding, Dr. Tseng comported himself with not only true professionalism (which would be enough in itself), but also a genuine sense that he cares about his patients. I am going to be extremely objective and factual. First, this review is for the entire visit and experience and the follow up. Like many patients, the minimum wait here is 2.5 hours. (After waiting for 2 hours in the lobby, there's another hour of wait in the exam room, after they take your weight and questions.). My final time with doctor, 2 min 38 seconds. I wonder if I only get under 3 minutes, why the long wait? They run a very loose operation and I worry for my safety. I was prescribed with a very heavy dose of antibiotics. I called back after 2 days saying it causes upset stomach. The receptionist keeps asking me to go back to see the doctor. I said I am telling you my condition so you can tell the doctor and give me a remedy, either put me on Prilosec or another antibiotics. After numerous exchanges, finally, she agreed to talk to a nurse. After a while, the nurse called me back and said yes doctor will give me a new medicine. Then she tried to confirm my information with me, only to realize she's talking to the wrong patient. WHAT!!!! wrong name, wrong birthday, wrong phone number!!!! Then she called me back again, this time finally got my info right. So I gave her my pharmacy and waited til the next morning to pick up at the pharmacy. I arrived at 10:30am, and Pharmacist said nurse didn't call in. Pharmacy called the doctors office again and they blamed the nurse for not being there. And finally said there's a note in the file says pending. I waited another 2 hours, only to find out they called the pharmacy with a medicine that doesn't work well for me, which I told the doctor during the initial exam. Here's the summary: The doctor is NOT professional, he doesn't take patient's information into record. I specifically told him amoxicillin doesn't work well for me, and he decided to replace a stomach upsetting medicine with something that didn't work for me. The nurses are NOT professional, they talk to patients with the wrong patient folder in front of them. Both of these two above issues have serious consequences. I am usually very careful when I review professional services and not use my emotions or subjective bias. But I believe the medical board will find my review valid. If I had allergic reactions to the medicine he gave me even after I told him I would, I can call a lawyer now to file a malpractice lawsuit. A doctor is hard to find nowadays. Recently I received a bill from Dr. Tseng office$30 for no show fee. However no reminding call a day before appointment as they promised. When I called the office the staff asked me 882-xxxx is my phone? I told her not 282-xxxx was my number. Then the other staff said she did call me the correct number, the point was I did not receive her call. Then she left the phone several times and did not say please hold but let me guess. I told her I am not a person received reminding call and did not go and did not let them know. Each time I showed up on time and I had to wait for 1-2 hours. She said she did not say I did not go and I did not call. Finally she said it was hard to decide who was right and who was wrong and the no show fee is waived this time. She also said all doctors made this type of charge, I told her according to my experience no other doctors made this kind of charge. Besides this office also charged $1+ for test report from 1 page and up. The interesting thing is this charge does not apply to all patients. I saw some patients do not have to pay. read more

He is a pretty good in diagnosing the problem but does not seem to care too much about patient's time. I have been coming here for over 10 years. Have not been here for at least 3 years. Thank goodness I have been healthy. I am taking an oath to make this my last visit. Each visit regardless with or without appointment is 90 minutes to 120 minutes. Just ridiculous!!! Other than Katherine, most staffs are either rude or does not know what they are doing. My appointment was 12:25, when I walked in, all 13 chairs in the lobby was filled up. The 14th person was on a wheel chair. I was the 15th person and would just have to stand around. The other thing is the blood test is extremely high here. I get my thyroid blood test here and cost over $200.00 with insurance. With the same insurance, I get the same thyroid test with Dr. James Hennenburg in Pasadena (10 Congress is the address), cost around $25.00. I would not recommend this doctor unless he changes his scheduling policy and not over book patients and ask for all testing prices before you let them test you. read more

Dr. Tseng always gives me the best details. I never regretted switching to him. His staff are very friendly too. Catherine, the lady at the front, has always been very polite to me. When I was waiting for my turn, I always seen her working, but she still makes time for the patients and answers any questions they have. He offers very low cost office visits which is a relief for uninsured patients like myself. An office visit is an affordable $50. This is a nice, clean office, with a professional staff, and Dr. Tseng is a caring and compassionate doctor who really listens, and is thorough and gentle in his approach. He is also sensitive to the needs of women, and if he needs you to be undressed, he makes sure there is a female nurse present in the room. For the times I have needed to see him for an illness, I experienced a successful and speedy recovery. It's worth the wait time, which can be about 45 minutes to an hour. Just plan for a little extra time for quality care. Also you'll need to be patient when setting your appointment, because the receptionist doesn't speak English well.
