I often choose to stay at Thompson Hotels and am never disappointed, however this location is a total fail... our rental car was released to another person and we had to wait for it. Housekeeping first night did not arrive until about 4pm. When ordering room service I had to call three times to order only be to be told the carrot cake was not available anymore. Our upgrade was on second floor and overall will not stay here ever again. I do not typically leave reviews, however I did not enjoy the experience and appreciate other reviews when planning a trip therefore felt the need to share. We've just stayed at 3 hotels in Colorado and we regret this one the most. Why? I'd like to preface this with: I'm not one to complain about pricing or added costs unless it's NOT WORTH IT. But for a 4-star hotel that's priced at a 5-star hotel (with NO SPA OR TUBS), we expected something. There are NO perks to this hotel except welcome drinks that you pay for in "destination fee." Yes valet is $65 so we opted into self/street parking based on what other Yelpers were saying (our car rental was over $1k for 5 days - we truly didn't want to overpay at this point). Although we weren't valeting, the kind gentlemen still helped us with our bags in the snowy weather. We had the corner king on 11th floor. There were no higher upgrades except for the penthouse (according to what I had booked + front desk). We had splurged a bit more on Thompson Denver for our mini-moon getaway, but the price simply isn't worth it in comparison to the other hotels around. You're paying for the name. I attached photos. In terms of walkability, it was good. But Colorados DT transportation is super easy, you can hop on/off their bus. You do not need to stay here for the convenience. Again, plenty of other places that are much more spacious, accommodating, and at a lower price point if you're looking for somewhere nice. The armoire was obnoxiously squeaky every time my husband and I used it to grab our coats. You truly can hear everything. We heard our neighbors "doing" a lot of things to say the least (luckily we had our sound machine)The sink was badly clogged. Our housekeeping didn't refill any amenities (cotton swabs, etc). I will say, Chris and Arnold were such incredible front desk hosts. We felt extremely welcomed and informed by them. Thompson Denver did have recommendations to shop at other local stores, which we were able to utilize. I did appreciate how Thompson Denver had their weekly calendar of things to do per day. It was a nice touch. We checked out Chez Maggy, again, wasn't impressed. I think the rooftop was closed too? We didn't have to much time to check it out. read more

One of our favorite hotels to stay at by Hyatt. We've stayed at the Thompson Denver twice and both times have been wonderful. Particularly the 2nd time; our corner suite met almost all of our expectations. Very comfortable bed & linens/pillows, spacious bathroom with all the amenities, decent sized fridge, and smart TV that Chromecasts to your smart phone. I will say that there were just a few minor things that were missing in our room that would have made it near perfect -- there were no hooks or towel bars in our bathroom so we had to hang our towels on the door handle or glass divider, and there was no desk or chair in the main area of our room so we found ourselves not having enough table space to put our day to day items. Customer service is always outstanding. And we were also able to dine at their new Chez Maggy French restaurant just downstairs which was fantastic. Their gym is also very clean with all the equipment that you'll need to keep you active during your stay. We did run into an incident with housekeeping but the hotel manager rectified the situation quickly and we were satisfied with their response. All in all, it was a very enjoyable stay and located in a convenient part of Denver, with many coffee shops, restaurants, and shops just steps away. We will definitely be returning. read more

I really like Hyatt and the Thompson collection is usually pretty nice - as is this hotel. Comfortable, nice vibe in the rooms. The location is fine. However, from the management on down, it's pretty poorly run and customer service is frustratingly bad. I don't need to get into all of the specifics but I will *strongly recommend* Chase Sapphire Reserve holders don't bother booking this with The Edit. There are much better options in Denver. One quick example - you know how when you check into a hotel they swipe your card for authorizations - well they actually charged me for that (hit my statement) and they refused to remove it and had to file an inquiry with Hyatt and dispute it on my credit card. There were several other issues, but you get the gist. With all of the stresses and hassles folks go through in life, booking a hotel and having an enjoyable experience should help alleviate some of those. Skip this one. read more

The Thompson Denver is a three year old property with a contemporary decor and amazing staff. The location is stellar as well. We asked for an early check-in and the staff happily accommodated us. Our room on the tenth floor featured an awesome view of the mountains. Although the room was somewhat small, it featured a super comfy king bed and lots of extras. Be it a neat rolling tray of snacks for purchase and even a steamer in the closest. The bathroom even includes a skin care offering and a box of temptation aids for purchase. We dined at the Chez Maggy restaurant for lunch and breakfast and the food was superb. Look for a separate Yelp review. I'd highly recommend checking out the Reynard Social lounge on the sixth floor. We had an event in the library and the food and cocktails were a home run. My only regret was staying only one night. Can't wait to return! read more

I had a wonderful stay at the Thompson in downtown Denver! There is active construction at the corner of the hotel on 16th Street, so be mindful of it. Some amenities that I loved for globalists only was the complimentary breakfast at Chez Maggy up to $40 per person. Every night, they had these little meringue cookies that were freshly baked at the front desk. Valet parking was very easy, I texted 15 minutes ahead to a phone number and it would notify me when it was ready. I got upgraded to a corner king room. The room was so curated and beautiful. The lighting fixtures created a relaxing ambiance in the room and the bathroom toiletries smelled amazing! I always request for feather pillows and they were so comfortable to lay on. As for the gym, this hotel doesn't have one in house, but they provide a day pass for a gym access to a nearby facility. It took me 3 minutes to walk over to Colorado Athletic Club and it had everything that I needed! The location was also prime to walk anywhere in downtown! I could see union station from my room and I walked to Lorimer street to dine nearby. read more

Ive stayed in plenty of hotels in my years, but the Thompson is easily my favorite. From the decor, the great gym, the insanely kind staff, and the AMAZING showers. It was an all around wonderful experience. The 6th floor lounge is just stunning, the bartenders / staff were so sweet & attentive. My ONLY complaint is that there is not a ton of storage for your clothes- just a small armoire. I made it work for a 4 day trip, but if you have ski clothes, or more than 1 person... it'd be tight. I already want to come back & I haven't even left yet. If you're coming to Denver, Id highly suggest the Thompson. It's a maybe 10 min walk from Union Station, which has a train straight to the airport- $10 per ride. You cant beat it. Go. Stay. Shower, you wont regret it. read more

The location is great. It's in between Union station and Larimer square so that's pretty much an easy access and walkable location. The inside is soothing with soft lighting and with nice modern decor. The rooms are on the smaller side, but that is fine. The one thing that really got to me was how thin the walls were. We heard the person upstairs walking and every step. The room next to us was knocking stuff over. We could hear things all throughout the day and night. Perhaps it is the vibrations through the vent. Regardless it was not a very restful location. The smell of the place is great though, just wished it was more peaceful in terms of sound. read more

Very posh design. Architecturally, it's outstanding. However, accommodations are concerning. 1. The walls are very thin. I would recommend asking for ear plugs, even if you're not close to the club because you will hear people going in and out or the doors slamming 2. I had a negative experience with housekeeping taking away my earplugs even though they were around my personal items. Had to get them replaced. And they also left a mountain of towels/forgot to take out the trash. I feel that for the price, I'm not sure it's worth it. I have stayed at better 4 star hotels without these issues. Views were alright, but nothing to brag about. And I paid extra for the views Lastly, I would like to offer a recommendation. Do not use Valet service. Dear Thompson, please stop spraying that cologne in the rooms. The air filter helped, but our request to not spray it the next day was overlooked. We're generally not sensitive to scents, but this one is overpowering. I love the modern feel of the hotel; food has been above average. You might want to bring a power strip though. Outlets are limited & aren't designed for two large plugs at the same time. USB ports are a nice touch, but they're USB-A and I only brought C cables. The HVAC was great - all too often a nice hotel will have a unit that clunks on & off. I would definitely stay here again & call that morning to get a room that hasn't been sprayed & also leave a post-it on the door to not spray. If you're sensitive to light, bring some electrical tape to cover up the led's. read more

We love having events at the sleek, modern hotel inLoDo! The Thompson provides a top quality venue for or group of 130. Their 2 rooms in the basement are comfortable and fun separated by a lounge area. We had both rooms and the lounge area too. The food from their kitchen is excellent. We had great comments from our attendees. We haven't stayed in the rooms but have toured several and thy are all well appointed. It was so close to union station, so we took the train in and walked over - easy breezy! You could walk to just about anywhere you needed. Not to mention being dog friendly, and very accommodating with bowls we needed for her. We ate dinner on the rooftop restaurant and had a fantastic server. Order the pull apart burger and bread pudding - licked the plates clean! We'd be back in a heartbeat! Beautiful, frustrating, convenient, yet inconvenient. I booked a last minute trip to Denver for a singular purpose, to attend my son's gallery opening. Not for a vacation. I checked into the Thompson Denver on 8/1/24 at 2:30AM and checked out at 3:30AM on 8/2/24. I was there for only 25 hours yet was charged for 2 nights for a total of $692.18. I was charged an additional $114, which consisted of a $60 destination fee (champagne, destination partners, and discounts I did not utilize) and $64 for valet parking. I booked the Thompson through AMEX Fine Hotels that came with free breakfast for 2 for two days that I did not use either. The Thompson should have a business model for late arrivals that accommodates the travelers frustrations, instead of profiting from and adding to them. Such as not charging a full days stay for a guest that arrives after every amenity is closed and is clearly going to only sleep. Or charging for valet parking when no alternative self-serve parking is offered or available. Even the nature of the valet parking added to my anxiety, being told to request your car 25 minutes in advance to then be told in a text that it arrived early and you had to pick it up within a certain time, often less than the 25 minutes you were told to allot. I also question the business ethics of having a mandatory resort fee for services that guests do not want or use. The hotel was beautiful, all of the staff were professional and pleasant. I would have loved my visit had this been an extended vacation stay. But under the circumstances, the value to cost was not equitable. I wish a traveler didn't have to choose a budget hotel for a short stay, but for a quick in & out where you don't plan on utilizing the hotels amenities, I would not recommend the Thompson. It's convenient location is out weighed by is inflexible price structure. Or maybe I should have stayed at a Travelodge. read more

The Denver Thompson is an elegant hotel. It is a new hotel and has a rich design. I chose the Thompson for its location which is just a few blocks from Denver's Union station and Laramie Square essentially where DT Denver is vibrant. My room was very clean and the bed comfortable. There is a mini coffee shop and a restaurant with a bar in the hotel. Staff were very welcoming and attentive. My one suggestion is for the hotel to include a ergonomic chair for all of us digital workers. Thompson (Hyatt) was a very pleasant stay. read more

Got to stay here for a two night stay. This is a newer hotel downtown right in the middle of it all. We were greeted at the front door and the front desk treated us like family. Really felt welcome. Rooms were well appointed and very clean. Our floor had an ice machine and filtered water service to fill up. Our room had a record player in it with current records. There was a coffee bar in the lobby, we did not use it but look good. Would recommend this property for anyone coming to Denver looking for a relaxing and rewarding stay, Thompson is it. read more

We had a wonderful stay at the Thompson Denver a few weeks back. The hotel had an elegant and sophisticated feel. The lobby was modern and subtle, falling in line design wise with the LoDo district of Denver where a combination of industrial lofts, Coors Field and Union Station all blend together. (One thing to note, there was a lot of construction in and around the area, leading to some random turns by our Uber driver because the most direct route was not available). We were greeted at the curb by the doormen who helped us into the lobby. At check-in, our Globalist status was immediately recognized and was given an envelope with an letter detailing the specifics that were available to us during our stay. We were upgraded to a loft suite and directed to the elevators, which took us up...not to the highest floor, but somewhere with some distance to the rooftop bar that most Thompson hotels are known for...therefore giving us some distance away from the noise. The suite was unique and modern, but had subtle elements of Colorado and specifically Denver. The dark wood, high ceilings and glass cabinetry carried the industrial feel into the room. Our bedroom had a view of Market Street and the lofts and tech offices across the street. The bathroom, which not being the largest space was roomy and had a good size shower. Unfortunately, there was no tub. I believe the suite that's the next level up would be the one that has a tub. We loved some of the interesting and unique touches that Thompson properties bring into their room. We had a record player with actual vinyl for us to play and quite a nice speaker system. There was also some trinkets like a 3-dimensional tic-tac-toe board in the living room that brought some funkiness to the space. Overall, the room was well sized and the sound insulation was far superior than other Thompson hotels in the states. The hotel has a decent size gym in the basement level with two Peleton bikes, free weights, treadmills and a few machines. While its not the biggest or most extensive hotel gym in the Hyatt portfolio, it was definitely better than expected for where the space was located. Next to the gym were the conference rooms, which had glass walls and surrounds a fireplace, again goes hand-in-hand with the industrial feel of the area. The lobby had a coffee bar that was open in the morning and the restaurant fell under the purview of Chef Ludo and where we had our breakfast. The breakfast item was simple, but well executed. The Omelette Natural was perfectly cooked or what our server conveniently called a well made Denver omelette in Denver. The Boston lettuce salad as accompaniment was a refreshing twist from the usual breakfast sides and like many of Chef Ludo's other restaurants, the coffee was strong which was welcomed, especially on a cold Denver morning. I would say the LoDo area was convenient for business centric stays, but also good for vacations and staycations. It's located within walking distance of Union Station, so the train is available as an option from DIA. It's also a close enough walk for sports fans of the Colorado franchises that it can be used as home base for Rockies or Avalanche games. It's also located right off the 16 Street Mall, so once the construction finishes it'll be very convenient for those looking for a few days visiting Denver. read more

Never ever let this valet here at this hotel touch your car. We tried to just enjoy a meal here and the valet got into a car accident with our car!! While driving it back around to us. This valet claimed it was the other driver's fault and the other driver claimed it was the valets fault. The valet was so frazzled he couldn't help us at all. They literally had 0 plan in place for this situation. You're a valet?! You're telling me you don't have a protocol for a car getting damaged on your watch?? Pro park is the valet company who a month later has been completely useless and now is telling us we have to go after the man who hit our car on our own, despite the on call manager telling me in previous cases of This, pro park's insurance has taken care of this. It was YOUR fault. You were driving our car and brought it back damaged. No one at this hotel was helpful. No one knew what to do. Beware. I would never recommend having a vehicle on their premises because they don't care about the property of guests and take zero accountability for their mistakes. Pro park is a highly unprofessional and disorganized company. We sat at the hotel for an hour with little to no help and everyone running around not knowing what to do to help us. Btw nothing was comped or any perks other than we weren't charged the $7 valet fee!!! Gee thanks. This hotel should find a new valet service. What an insult to anyone spending money here that they haven't done their due diligence to hire professionals to manage their valet. Chris Mendez claims manager was completely unhelpful and told us different information from the propark manager the night we were hit on March 25th. So someone is lying. This place is brand new and still figuring a few things out but we really enjoyed our stay here. The staff was friendly, attentive, and tried to help. This hotel definitely has the adult vibe, that slinky black dress that makes you feel sexy. The decor is luxurious yet understated and tasteful. The lobby is welcoming, with a nice bar and restaurant on the side that served a great mix of French Bistro food. The breakfast could use a few more options but it was fine for a weekend stay. Everything was amazingly prepared and executed, the french omelet was delicious as was the burger for lunch. The lounge on the 6th floor is dark, and sexy, with city views and fun to lounge with a great cocktail or nice snacks. Definitely make it up there for a drink! They take their cocktails seriously. The room was a bit small but well decorated. The bed was amazing, I had the best sleep. There is no dresser, the closet is tiny and we had to ask for luggage racks and had our suitcases in the room. A bit awkward. There was a small desk and chase but not really a room to lounge in, more to sleep. The bathroom was also a bit small, single sink and no separate door for the toilet. One thing I love is this hotel is super dog friendly and they don't charge extra fees. read more

We stayed 5 nights and had a great time, I booked early and left a small request that they were happy to satisfy which was awesome (thank you front desk!) the rooms are super classy and nice and with such a central location to downtown and union station you can get into all the action immediately. Cleaning visited every day so we always came back from busy vacation days to a clean bathroom and a made bed. The front desk offers a daily baked good to guest evening morning and evening and they were always tasty we didn't get a chance to try the in house restaurant or coffee shop but both were quite popular at their respective times so they're doing something right. The reason for not giving 5 stars is 2 things: the minibar, I know it is infamously expensive and that's part of the point but $10 for boulder canyon chips is insane and there are so many drinks crammed into your fridge that keeping leftovers is not an option, especially for longer stays this got rough cause we wanted a late night snack that didn't cost a second mortgage and had an unusable fridge to store leftovers for said snack. Second is a not obviously disclosed resort fee that is charged after check out. I will admit that I didn't scan every line of the booking but I feel that a $30 a night charge should be bold and underlined just for customer transparency. The female bartender had a total attitude and acts like you're disturbing her when asking for a drink. Thankfully on our last night we had Addie as our bartender and he was AWESOME! Super great guy, great drinks and so personable. The service at the restaurant is horrible too, UNLESS you get lucky and Elliot is helping you. Even when Elliot wasn't our server, that poor guy was serving our table because our servers were constantly MIA. Oh let's not forget about the barista in the lobby. I'm sorry if you don't like your job and opening the coffee bar at 6am, but your sourpuss attitude is not what I want to see at 6am. Leaving the hotel? Customary to grab a few bottles of water right? We changed from the Hyatt Centric to the Thompson due to the Centric not having internet or TV during out stay. I booked at 7am and meant to just drop off our luggage at the hotel since we were going up to the mountains. We were told we could go directly to our room. View was the best I've seen in Denver. Front desk reception was friendly and gave us a ton of information about the hotel and the area partners. Room was clean and very modern. Restaurant was fantastic, have the mussels!
