It is pretty well-documented at this point that there is a crazy old guy named "Captain" Scott Shields that comes to this dog park with his golden retriever and lies about him and his old dog being 9/11 first responders. He even wrote a fake autobiography about it called "Bear: Heart of a Hero, The Story of a Man and His Ground Zero Search and Rescue Dog." He also defrauded FEMA and The Red Cross for ~$50K, claiming that his apartment was damaged on 9/11 (it wasn't). Just google "Captain Scott Shields Bear" and you'll go down an interesting rabbit hole.
But anyway, for my review of this dog park... here is a stream-of-consciousness exploration of what must be going through this depraved guy's head when someone enters the Thompson Dog Park. Enjoy:
Ope -- looks like we've got another one! What do we have here...? Ah, a fine young family... healthy-looking... white, thank God. There are too many ethnics coming around here lately and they never want to talk to me... ah let's see... what dog is that, a -- is that a golden retriever? Oh I betcha Bear will love to see another golden! Wait 'til they hear about me and Bear... some people you can tell, you can tell they're good people and respectful people that don't peddle lies! Oh, Bear... so many liars out there, disrespectful, can't honor us as heroes. We were there on 9/11, we did what we could do. Let's see, let's see... they're coming on in through the gate... the young woman is pretty... nice, long hair... wish I could run my fingers through it... bet she'll be eating out of my hands when I tell her about my golden training pedigree! Oh there's kids... there's kids too, let's see... ah, they're running off anyway, doesn't matter... Bear's digging around again... where's that tennis ball, tennis ball... where is the f****** damn ball gotten to again... Bear's got it under the bench I guess... need to grab it... I'll throw it and have Bear fetch it when they come over... let's see, let's see... so many liars out there, I need to set them straight... I was on National Geographic, I bet these young people can find it on YouTube and they will like that... they'll see, they'll get it, they love videos nowadays -- you can't contest facts! It's right there in the video... people say such ridiculous things... the police, the courts... FEMA, whoever... it's a shame that people lie everywhere... I know what happened... I'll show them... here they come... the husband is walking off... here's the girl... sitting down on the bench... where's the ball? Lemme get that ball and give it a toss for Bear... say something, say something... I'll say something to her now...!
