I walked off and she says "we have dead ones" I said have a good nap! 0 Star Rate!! Wasted my time and gas didn't get to fish till 8:45am I was mad but do not go here!!!! Second time i went in in the evening after enjoying the beach i was greeting somewhat rudely by a younger gentlemen. Not friendly at all and couldn't tell me why he wouldn't sell me and my family of 4 bracelets to get on the pier. It was Saturday about 7:15 pm and all he said was.. "we're closing soon" then turned his back on me. I muttered "the sign says all night fishing on Fri-Sat, so what time does the pier close?" I wasn't planning on fishing all night but i did plan on fishing for an hour or so. Next time i'll just go to Galveston.

I don't know why this place has a low rating but my experiences here are always great. I'm new to…read moreboating and have had excellent service all around from everybody in the store. Jaime on the reel and tackle has been a great source of info from tying knots to lures and bait. I was able to also purchase a Daiwa 5000 combo when everyone was sold out. They also have a great selection of fish finders. I bought a Garmin 74SV and returned it for a 94SV WITHOUT any issues. This is my go to place for boating and fishing!

Bolivar Yacht Basin. That may be a bit of a misnomer. I haven't really seen too many yachts pass…read morethrough here. But since this isn't Monte Carlo, I suppose the Bolivar version of a yacht would be a rusty old shrimp boat or a twin outboard offshore boat. This is a good place to launch from for fishing excursions to both the bay and gulf. From here you can access most of the main fishing holes relatively easily. Also, if you intend to fish the jetties or rigs, this is about the closest bait camp to those areas. In terms of bait, they usually have a decent selection for a fair price. You can always find some dead bait if they are out of live bait. However, BYB does lose a star since I have been here a few times when there is little bait to be found, which can be inconvenient. BYB also has a deck with chairs and a hammock to rehash (exaggerate) the day's fishing conquests. It's also a good place to wait out a thunder storm, which is what I am doing now. Well, it looks like the sky may be clearing up now, so I should get back on the water.
