Beware!! This company is a nightmare to deal with. Currently they're trying to charge for their faulty 2nd stage regulator and won't call back after told "forwarding to manager". Pressure was more than double normal operating range, besides unsafe, lead to excessive gas usage . Previous scams, commercial accounts annual set pricing in "emails" that were never sent then try to charge residential rates. I'd strongly advise using any other gas company. read more

Send you bill that you cannot pay because their billing service does not work. You try to call them and you can't get an answer on the phone. Using multiple different numbers they have listed. To Whom This May Concern, I live in Barnwell SC , Thompson Gas provides my gas. During the summer i was told i was using 7 to 10 gals of gas just off of my piliot light on my furnace. On 7-21-25 bill was 7.92 8-19-25 the bill was 7.92 11-10-25 bill was 199.22, two weeks ago i smelled gas an had to call the fire department an there was a leak. So i called the next day and told Mary an she told me to call Wes. He came out here an sure enough there was a gas leak. That cost me 150.00 so what about the money i had to call him to find it. This was not my problem it was on Thompson Gas. What about the gas that i lost because of the gas leak. On 2-19-26 another service technician was called to fix the problem. I was billed 205.37 which i paid because i always pay my bills. Shouldn't i be compensated for that but of course Mary said no. Just got an email saying my march bill is 320.48. I've been with this company when it first started in the 1980's. I'm on a fixed income and do not have money like this. I'm looking for a different gas companies that are cheaper. Prepaid acct. 1/6/25 had a credit on acct. Paid. $350. order full tank.Online system stated amount needed for full tank. Paid the extra following day. From 1/6 to 18 days later no delivery. Tank was at 40% on 1/6. Tank now past 0. Called & emailed several times. Can't confirm a delivery day. Yet you advise customers to order at 30%. Met the requirement and then some. And paid as the online system indicated. In fact, additional auto payment since. This is what you do, deliver propane. Just because it's winter the job doesnt change. How can a delivery not occur in almost 29 days for customers who have paid. Customer service has gone so far down hill in this country. Newborn in the hose and no propane. We winder why people's homes catch on fire, because we have to rely on piss poor companies who done service their clients properly. My $$$ growing interest in your bank account but no service provided. If you want propane in the winter you better order it 6-7 weeks ahead cause they cant hsndke their one job. read more

This company allowed their representatives to come to my property without me being aware of it. They also told me that they will send someone to move their gas tank at 5 am. At 5 am is completely dark. I wouldn't trust them in the bright light but let them in when it's dark? Be very very aware that they are NOT an honest company that care about their name or reputation. After I read other reviews I now se that I am not the only one. I am looking for a different company. That's just scary what they do. read more

Thompson gas is terrible. They recommended a plumbing contractor named Regina Plumbing. They allowed Regina plumbing to pipe high pressure gas into my house which exploded where I lit my fireplace. They sent a representative to small claims court to defend the defective work of Regina Plumbing. Do not use this gas company. They only care about their sweetheart deals with their kickback on plumbing contractors who sue you after installing defective plumbing. read more

Thompson Gas is excellent with customer service, communication, and are a company with integrity. I lived off the grid with solar and relied on propane in the winter months. Thompson is much more clear on when they deliver to you than other local propane suppliers. They make payments more convenient and straightforward than competitors. Ran out of propane this morning. We were always on auto refill with Redwood fuels with no problems. Called Thompson this morning and got no firm answers about when we would be getting service but lots of excuses and apologies. The operator did offer emergency service for $150. We finally found a good propane company in Lake County. Last year Suburban Propane charged us $740 to fill up a 100 gallon tank and took nearly 2 weeks to come. Thompson only charged $130 for half a tank and took a few days to come. Big difference. read more

This company put a tank in and told me the gauge is broken and always reads 60 even if there is more or less propane. He said to look for condensation and you will know there is still gas. Two times it ran out and stunk up my house because of the odorant. The second time they put in a new gauge but it read 30 all the time. The last time they put in a new gauge and I thought it was working. So the last time they came to fill another tank on the property I asked that they fill it even it they don't think it needs it because I can't tell if there is gas. So they came and I thought they put gas in and I looked at the gauge and it said 50. My pilot light just went out so I went and looked at the gauge and it reads 50. So called my son to come and re-light. He trys to light it and said there is no gas. So I said there is 50 gallons in it. We go check the tank, it reads 50 but my son tapped it and you can hear it is hollow, empty to the bone. No oderant emitted into my house but it's empty. My son thought it was strange that they replaced the gauge 3 times but it never worked. So he looks at it more closely. It is a small disk that sits on a little cup, he picks it up turns 180 degrees puts it back in and it reads empty. He says, THEY HAVE BEEN PUTTING THE GAUGE IN BACKWARDS EVERYTIME! They won't come out for 5 days after you call them, last time they didn't come for more than 10 days. I am way frustrated with them. read more

They are the worst fuel company in Northern California. I requested my broken gauge to be replaced multiple times . So when I went from 30% to 0% I knew it was still broken . So they want to charge off route delivery fee to fill my tank cuz their gauge doesn't work . They sent up some dumbass who took 3+ hours to empty the tiny bit of fuel or 20% of tank no idea since gauge was broken ...change a valve.. an refill 55gallon . In the mean time the service tech forgot the correct gauge so they sent a 2nd tech up. These guys don't seem very qualified if you asked me especially when one of them tried to fire a cigarette as the other hill Billy worked on the propane tank . You'd think they'd have a no smoking policy around propane trucks and tanks . But these guys have low Iq . Very relieved to switch fuel companies ... and the other fuel companies in town said they've heard very similar stories from other customers who switched from Thompson . read more

This review is actually for both Ukiah and Petaluma location Thompson Gas. If I were to review only Ukiah I would give them less than 1 star, However if I were to review only Petaluma I would give 5 stars. So 3 star review it is . I have bad been a customer of Redwood Coast Fuels and gotten ok service over the years. Then Thompson Gas took over, everything went down hill fast. We ran out of gas, we had billing issues, issues with getting service work done. When I would call in to talk to the manager Shawn I would never get to talk to him, always told he would call me back. Really bad customer service. Getting ready to switch to another company. THEN Petaluma started servicing our account. Talk about night and day difference in customer service. I had a question about my tank piping Denise the Manager called me back right away. Very helpful and so much knowledge. She scheduled to have a service man come out and he was very professional. To my surprise I even received a follow up call 2 days after the service man visited. Denise was checking to make sure that everything was satisfactory. I have spoken with Denise on 3 different occasions now and have been impressed each time. Ukiah office you really should take note on how Petaluma takes care of the customers. Originally got my service through redwood. For years I had issues with the drivers not showing up on the day it was scheduled and not filing my tank because the dogs were in the yard. So I paid a bunch of money to have my tank moved outside my fence and got my tank put on auto fill. Everything seemed great for a year, until I went to take a shower and... no hot water. Went out and looked at the tank, sure enough it's empty. Called Thompson and got told it will be 7 to 10 days to get it filled and that I really need to call when it gets to 40%. I said I hadn't been calling for the last year, looked up my account which shows I'm on keep full but the lady insists that isn't the case. She offered a $150 fee to get it filled today. Whatever. Fill it so I have heat and warm water. I'll pay the $150 company incompetence fee. I'm not sure who is better.. but use someone else. Oh and I'm giving two stars instead of just one because the customer service lady's were polite. read more

I needed to relocate my 250gal propane tank. Called Thompson and they had Nate come out to evaluate and consult. I had to move my a/c unit so I could meet the set back distance requirement. Once I moved the unit I called Thompson and within a couple of days Nate came back out and executed the relocation like a pro! He knows what he is doing and he's a hell of a worker!
