The cabins are bright inside, lace covered windows and have a sweet little porch to sit on. You can be sociable with the other guests, otherwise most people will respect your need for quiet. Sunsets are beautiful there, right on John's Bay. Shared Cook House was well equipped. Shared shower spick and span clean. Perfect location near the classic Pemaquid Lighthouse and all things classic Maine. The prices were very reasonable for such a lovely area. We will return.

The manager was very helpful in answering questions and helping us find the kind of adventures we wanted. The location is great, because it feels very private and remote, yet a short drive gets you to any number of attractions, if that's what you want. Bring the kids, bring the dog! We already booked our next visit!

The cottage sleeps up to 6 people and has an fully equipped kitchen with basic essentials. I was surprised to see there were coffee filters, garbage bags, dish soap, and basic kitchen appliances. The bathroom comes with toilet paper, hand soap, and a blow dryer. The beds were comfortable (we weren't expecting that considering we've slept on stiff beds many times during our travels). The biggest surprise of all was that the fireplace comes with firewood! You can also use one of their rowboats or kayak for free during your stay. We are very happy with the cottages and would love to come again. It really is a great getaway.

Perfect place for a Maine getaway…read more This isn't the yacht club down the street - this is a low key place that you go to relax and watch the water. The cabin I rented was perfect for me and a very large dog; we sat on the deck and watched the boats come and go. There was a dock with boats to use and Adirondack chairs scattered throughout so you could just watch the harbor. All the cabins are off the main road and tucked back towards the water. Was able to walk my dog just fine. Will def be back

We used their kayaks and paddled around the little island and also across the bay to a small stony beach on a bigger island. We ate seafood almost every day, going to "Jameson Point Lobster" in Friendship or to Rockland to eat. We also cooked in the cabin, and found if we prepared food on the 10" bar we could also look out the window at the water. The people at the cove were all very warm and friendly.

We feel very relaxed when we are there, and actually hate having to stay in hotels on our drive up or when going back home. The cottage is very relaxing, cozy, and comfortable. There is a lovely selection of teas and coffees available to have with Ammi's absolutely delicious homemade blueberry muffins! The porch and garden are beautifully tended and there are multiple places to sit outdoors and relax. Ammi is a talented artist and she has a small gallery of work on the premises where you can view and purchase her vibrant work. Her artwork is also on display in the cottages. Ammi's attention to detail, her keen eye for decorating, her wonderful personality, and her genuine care for her guests is what has made this place extra special. We will return again and again!!

Since guests were asked to respect the speed limit, it afforded people the opportunity to slow down in the campground, and be respectful of other guests. It has to start somewhere. Our site was next to the bathrooms which were very well kept. The trash was never overflowing, the toilets were clean, and the showers were in a decent state. I also enjoyed the constant music which flowed pleasantly into the bathrooms as well. I enjoyed the access to the little store as well. It had most, if not all of one's camping needs provided. Access to ice, firewood, and s'mores supplies, proved quite convenient. One evening, a woman who ran the campground, came over from her camper to take care of me in the store. She did so quite happily, and we shared a few laughs. In all, SF is in a good location, it had all of the necessary amenities, and was well kept. I'd stay again, but I might be getting too old to sleep on an air mattress in a tent. Its location to Camden, Freeport, Boothbay, and obviously Pemaquid Point Lighthouse, were advantageous too. This place offers nice little campsites nestled in a patch of pine forest alongside the Maine…read morecoast. My wife & I stayed in our bell tent at site number T14 which was the most isolated. Apparently that site was supposed to be chained off & not reserved, & we were woken up to a bit of the older man's temper, as he thought we took the chain down to enter. Later on, after we decided to just leave & was packing up, he realized the construction crew had failed to replace the chain, thus leaving us to think it was available. He came & apologized, & let us stay on the site, just asked us to move the car to avoid a flat tire, which we actually ended up in the place he asked us to park. We rated 4 stars for the inappropriate assumption & temper but aside from that, they had showers (which you need quarters for by the way), & all the amenities you might expect, & the mama of the property was an absolute sweetheart but we didn't get to actually meet her, unfortunately. There's also a general store with everything's out might need & grocery store with all food pickin' needs just about 5-10 minutes down the road from the entrance. It's also within walking distance to the beach (that's not pet friendly btw) but pets are welcome within a reasonable driving distance to other parts of the beach.

In June 2019, our family booked High Head cottage near Boothbay…read more We were pleased that it was nice, great views, secluded yet close to our activities. 1.We specifically selected this house because it had 3 full baths to accommodate our group. However, only upon arrival, we were told, the 3rd shower was broken(for the season) so we had to share showers. No compensation has been offered since we did not get what we paid for. Even as a small goodwill gesture. 2. One downstairs bathroom door was clear pane glass with no curtain. The door faced out toward the front porch's bedroom windows. No privacy from the bedroom and especially with the onsite caretaker on the porch. 3. I expect 1-2 extra toilet paper rolls in each bathroom. No, we had to search and finally found only 2 extra rolls in 1 bathroom. On their website, under History, they state "pride in attention to detail" and "no surprises." This is far from the truth from our stay at High Head. High Head has several good points, but just be prepared.
