One consistent complaint from my father-in-law was the food, which he did not particularly enjoy. That said, the staff always treated him and our family with kindness and respect. Unfortunately, my father-in-law passed away while in their care, but he was a very sick man with significant health issues. During this difficult time, the staff showed compassion and were very supportive of our family, which we greatly appreciated. One thing that truly stood out was their pet visitation policy. After providing proof of vaccination, we were able to bring our dog to visit him. Those visits brought him a tremendous amount of joy and comfort, and it meant a lot to our family to be able to share that time with him. While there is room for improvement with the facility updates and food quality, the caring staff and compassionate treatment of residents and families made a difficult situation a little easier.

I understand they take all major health plans, including Medicare, but if you are a self-pay client, I suspect they have a reasonable payment schedule.

The caregivers put everyone in fronof TV ALL day if possible and sit and talk...who knows who checks on those in their rooms. The nurse, Natalie, is very good. But she's one person. They rarely will answer phone. Place smells like urine...rooms seem never clean and smell. Don't wash soiled dirty and wet clothes daily. They leave dirty depends in trash all the time rather than bag and remove. Don't make sure your LO was their hands...come on isn't that basic hygiene. The cushion I posted had urine all over it and the "caregiver" covered with fresh pad to "hide" it. I found when I got there. And the Director of facility , he seems to not really care if there's a problem. They have a huge trash can at entrance which is gross...he basically said too bad. SouthBay thrives on Independent Living...the Memory care is just to get you to the Independent Living part. Families have to help,provide activities...how ridiculous With what you pay. They don't provide what they preach. Don't place your LO here. Gave it a 2 because we have little options in Mount Pleasant...but I found a great one thank the Lord!

Unfortunately, he (or SSI) will not see her anymore because she has Humana Insurance or because my Mom's plan changed under Humana. I just know, if she goes there, they won't accept her insurance. She's 84 now, so I'm hoping she continues to do well. I went to SSI in June of 2024 and saw Dr. Timothy Bryan. Dr. Bryan sent orders downstairs to their surgical center for me to get an injection by Dr. Levin. Two days after getting the injection, my arthritis/sciatica pain was completely gone. No nicer group than the ones in the surgical center. Thank you, Dr. Levin!! Beautiful, clean, new building Wonderful, on-site surgical center MRIs done in the same building The Surgical Staff is the nicest! Only thing I could suggest.... The lobby is so huge when you walk in on the main floor. Maybe a snack cart, or vending machine to sell snacks or drinks? If a patient is seen up stairs, then goes to get an MRI, then they are sent to get a shot, your wait time could be longer than expected. Your driver may need a drink while they wait on the patient, too! **If you visit, take a drink and a snack, especially if you're a diabetic.
