I have called and left a message with no return call, as well as called and waited on hold for over 20 minutes with no-one ever picking up. Normally, I schedule the same day I get my orders to avoid 2 separate trips to Mt Pleasant, but not this year. Therefore, I will be switching to another facility. This is unfortunate.

When I asked about this, I was told they were working on it. I added to appointment details to my calendar. I show up for my 7:45am appointment and am told I must be mistaken because they do not start until later in the day that day of the week. After some discussion, it's determined I'm booked for the wrong procedure. The check in people have not arrived yet for the day. So after some waiting around, I'm taken back for my screening. The tech was great. Friendly and efficient. I then get a call From someone at the office that the doctor would like to see me for a follow up. I book an appointment. Two days prior the next appointment, I get a call confirming my appointment and my financial responsibility for the appointment which will be $800. After virtual no communication from the doctor about why the appointment was necessary and a lack of explanation upon booking the follow up about the increased nature of the expense, I decided to move the appointment. I asked to be emailed an estimate. It's been a day and I have not received it. Overall, they seemed disorganized. I'll take my business somewhere else where the communication is better and more thorough. Updating my review from three to four stars. I called back and spoke directly with a tech. She was very helpful in explaining things to me. She reconnected me with the finance department. The gal there remembered talking to me, apologized for the email not getting sent, and was very helpful in getting me the info I needed.

My experience today was such a pleasure from the moment I walked through into the office to the end of my procedure. The staff of courteous kind very professional and made sure that I was well aware of the procedure itself and the cost involved. I have to say I was super impressed. I work in the medical field myself and American Health Imaging supersedes any experience I've previously had with traditional hospital facilities, and of course cost.!! The procedure took 35 minutes, I was supplied with headphones, blanket, and iPads, along with music of my choice to listen to. it made for a very comfortable experience. At the end of the procedure, I was given a disk with my information on it. I am highly recommending American Health Imaging for any of your radiology needs. Excellent all around.

Should I need additional imaging, I will contact them first as I feel they place the needs of the patient first and do not make you feel rushed or more/less important than the person before or after you. I signed in, paid my fee and waited for my tech to arrive and wheel me to the radiology area. I requested a wheel chair since I don't trust myself on crutches. He did explain his findings and told me that I didn't have 3 broken bones. I had 6 broken bones and Spiral fractures along the sides of my calf. I recently had fallen twice while using crutches so I knew additional damage was caused to my injured foot. My pain has been excruciating and relentless. The images explained what I had suspected all along and my heart sank. Tha technician Mr.Harrold spoke to my husband and I. He reassured us that everything would be fine and that I was in good hands. He also went on to say that my physician Dr.Johanesmeyer will explain to us my injury, his intended goal in regards to my Ankle repair and exactly what to expect afterwards. Quite honestly, I became overwhelmed, devastated, shocked and in disbelief at the magnitude of my injury. Overall, I am very satisfied with this radiology office. It's easy to drive here, there's plenty of parking, and I was treated very well. Everyone in this office was compassionate and helpful. I highly recommend .

Once there is just a matter of checking in and waiting for the nurse to call you and take you inside. This office basically do Bone Marrow biopsies, needed in order to find out how healthy the production of blood cells in your body is by taking a sample of the bone marrow from the hip bone. Also to determine if cancer has migrated to the bone marrow. Procedure takes about 5 minutes but prepping takes 2 hours and recovery only one hour. All professionals that work here are very caring. Doctors and nurses are an example here, so anyone else coming here be confident things will go in the right direction with first class attention to details and knowing that these people know what they are doing with the latest in technology and state of the art equipment. For such a delicate procedure to take only 5 minutes they really use the latest equipment, don't let the age of this building fool you to think otherwise.

I was preparing for a surgical implant. The facility was very clean and the employees were very friendly and helpful. One even helped me remove my necklace with a teeny tiny clasp. I was taken to the room and the technician was very nice and informed. I asked if I could use this same place for future MRI's and he told me that I could not, if I had the implant, I would have to go to to Grand Strand. They have a machine that they can adjust for people having an implant like me, or for people with pacemakers. I was happy to get this information for my future. Although I have had the implant installed, I felt sorry this was my one and only chance to take advantage of this convenient facility. I highly recommend them.

*DO NOT GO HERE! We were neglected and given the "run-around" for 11 days following MRI results--all of this while my ALS suffering Uncle suffered through suicide-inducing pain. SSI/Dr. Donald Johnson and his staff's failure to provide adequate care and attention directly resulted in my uncle threatening suicide due to uncontrolled pain* In Late 2018 my Uncle was seen at SSI for treatment for his severe and intolerable back pain and had an MRI performed on 12/30/18.For over a week afterward, we called SSI on his behalf (he is nonverbal) to inquire about the MRI results and were adamant in conveying my Uncle's severe circumstances. We spoke to Joanna and were promised information at the latest by 1/7/19 (Dr. Johnson's date of return from travel). Jan. 7th, 2019 came and went and there was no contact from SSI or Dr. Johnson about the MRI reading. Jan. 8th, we called again and left a vm to notify them that his was not being controlled and we wanted to inquire about the MRI results and changes to his treatment plan. We did not receive a callback on this day. On 1/9/17, my Uncle expressed that his constant pain had not subsided and that he was contemplating suicide nonstop as an option because it was so intolerable. This event shocked us and we urgently contacted SSI.SSI's Sarah picked up and we explained to her that his pain meds hadn't been effective and his pain was so intolerable he was contemplating suicide. We also reminded Sarah that we had tried to obtain his MRI reading previously. Sarah promised that we would receive a phone call latest "this afternoon with a plan". No return phone call occurred on 1/9. On 1/10, we called SSI as soon as they opened and spoke to SSI's receptionist. We explained the grave circumstances of my Uncle being placed on suicide watch and I was subsequently placed on hold. She returned to the call 15 min later and dismissed my concerns because according to her, the result of the Jan. 9th discussion between SSI Sarah and us was that SSI had until the end of Jan. 10th to give him a treatment plan. However, this was false as the discussion was for a treatment plan follow-up call later that very day, on Jan. 9th, not Jan. 10. We pleaded with the receptionist for any relief for my Uncle--he was in dire straits and was contemplating suicide. The receptionist stated that no one could help us until hours later, after noon. It was clear my Uncle and family's pain was not a concern for the SSI staff. On Jan. 11th, we had no choice but to approach another pain center to address Uncle's dire situation. He was urgently treated with stronger pain medication and had a prompt reading of his spine MRI. The MRI showed severe Degenerative Disk Disease. Thankfully, he is doing better now as the pain medication is helping his symptoms. Everything we patiently waited for SSI to do over the past 12 days was accomplished by the new pain center in a matter of hours. Patients expect physicians and their staff to deliver an adequate level of care. This would include responding to patient requests in a reasonable time and fashion. It is also expected that this level of care and attention would be elevated for a patient who suffers from a severe illness like (ALS). SSI's lack of care was evident and was below the standard that patients expect. Going the next eleven days after his MRI without any indication of the results was not acceptable nor reasonable. This is even less acceptable when you factor in Uncle's severe illness and condition of worsening pain. SSI staff lied and broke promises constantly throughout our experiences with them.The rude and dismissive answers and SSI staff refusing to give us a callback as promised shows their disregard for their patients. This overall lack of care or regard to his pain led my uncle to express that suicide was a better option than carrying on Dr. Johnson's current unadjusted plan. I hope that SSI addresses its policies and provides its patients better attention and care--so none of its other patients consider suicide as a better alternative than SSI's unattended treatment plans. read more

July 10, 2017 I arrived 30 minutes early as suggested to get checked in and my paperwork was scanned as well as my MRI loaded into their computer, All done quickly and the documents handed back to me. PA checked me, took verbal history, sent me for an X-ray and then I quickly saw Dr John Johnson. He did exactly what I had hoped for: he went through the X-ray and MRI in a concise detailed explanation of my back and what the problem was causing the pain. As MRI was 3+ years old, a new scan was suggested and I approved. End result was, my back looked the same except for minor changes so I made a choice between more PT or an injection....I took the injection. Even though I just had the consultation appointment scheduled with Dr Johnson, the MRI and Injection only took about 4 more hours even with them suggesting and me taking a lunch break at a nearby restaurant. I was impressed with the staff from start to finish with no exceptions. Dr Johnson and his PA (Ms Hyatt) were pleasant and very efficient, explained everything well, and answered my questions. At no time did I feel rushed or that they had other things to do. 3 days later I am without pain for the first time in years and wondering how long the results will last. Admittedly, my pain level has never been severe (3-4 on a consistent basis) but I have had several episodes of very severe pain that had left me concerned about the future problems. I now have a clear understanding of my problem and that in itself relieves some worry. I have nothing but good things to say about my experience and the results for a initial treatment. I just wish more Physicians had the ability to explain things as well as Dr Johnson. August 1 Back for a return visit with vast improvement in pain level after injection. Showed up 10 minutes early for appointment, was taken back to exam room on time, and was gone in less than 30 minutes. Same PA (Hyatt) reviewed how I had done with the injection, did a brief exam and then reviewed the MRI done at the spinal clinic showing changes versus the one 3+ years ago and why they did the injection they did. She explained that there were two choices and why they did the injection they had done. She told me they would leave standing orders for another injection if I needed and answered questions I had about injection frequency allowed and the possibilities of surgery if the injections no longer worked. Once again I got the same type clear explanations that Dr Johnson had given me on the earlier visit. Asked for and got a copy of MRI and report for my records. All staff were friendly, efficient, and my visit went like a well oiled machine! I left with less pain, more hope for the future, and a wish that all medical visits could go like the 2 I have had at the Spine Institute!!!! November 29,2017 Feeling the effects of the 1st injection wearing off, I called and scheduled an appt for the next injection for which the Dr had left a standing order for. I arrived at 10:10 AM for an 10:30 appt time, checked in, and after about 4 minutes was called back. I was prepped, injected, stayed for a 10 min observation and was wheeled out to meet my wife at the car at 10:45. Same quick and friendly service as the first 2 visits! I have no complaints about anything at SESI. I am in awe at this point of the efficiency that I have seen and experienced in my visits! Hopefully this injection works as well as the first one. read more

NEED LOWER THAN 1 STAR! Went there by referal from two other people. What a joke. This was a 3rd opinion and first two doctors say T6 thry T11 are damaged and L2-L3 herniated disk. Easily seen by the MRI and X-rays. I have been thru therapy, chiropractic, pain management all with no help. Other doctors booked soild for rest of the month and I wanted this pain over with so I gave them a try. When I get there they take more x rays bacause they say the first is too bad to see. Talk to 3 diffrent people (nurse, surgical assistant, then Doctor) who ask the same questions and obviously never looked at the paperwork from the other doctors or pain management place that you HAVE to bring with you. Then they tell me nothing is wrong with my back and I need their pain management. I could even see the problem areas on my xrays from where the other doctors pointed them out to me. They still acted like it was no big deal. I decided to get the shot to hold me over long enough to go elsewhere so I go next door to the pain management building. Then they try to charge me $295 and another $30 for facility and a extra doctor fee for a shot that is fully covered by my insureance. $295 to use their building? I walked out! It was obvious that this place is only looking for a quick eazy fix patient so they could get their quota for the month. My back is really messed up and I was scooted out the door so they would not have to deal with it. Stay far far away from this place. Its all about the numbers so they can run patients thru quckly and at the highest profit. read more

Website is not properly cited with medical research yet states various "facts" that have either been proven inaccurate by updated research, have not been explicitly researched and published in a peer reviewed journal, or are still hotly contested subjects in which the patient should know there are two sides to the debate in the medical community. For example, this article (https://www.southeasternspine.com/going-barefoot-good-or-bad-for-your-back/) states that "Several symptoms [of back pain] can be attributed to walking barefoot, including: Breakdown of tissues in or around your spine with subsequent pain, Swollen or ruptured discs in your back." These claims are not cited by any medical documents, let alone peer reviewed journals. Furthermore, as a medical researcher specializing in footwear's effects on biomechanics, I can personally attest to dozens of peer reviewed journals that contradict these statements and more that prove shoes are culprits of these back symptoms (ladies who wears high heels often know what I mean). Speaking of ladies, they claim to employ the best spine doctors in the country but have no female MD? Looks like their research isn't the only thing stuck in the past... Do your own research people! Just because they have Dr. in front of their name doesn't mean they know what they're talking about. I'd be happy to update this review if the Institute updates their website to include proper citations of peer reviewed medical research. read more

On July 29, 2020 I saw Dr. Poletti for the 3rd time after waiting 75 minutes and falling asleep in the examining room. His demeanor was dry and unapproachable. He began by saying "10% of ACDF surgeries fail" not "90% of ACDF surgeries are successful". He frightened me. His tone of voice was very monotone and ominous. My eyes filled w/tears and it took everything in me not to burst into tears and cry since I felt so uncomfortable. I had a list of questions to ask him about the ACDF surgery and he made me feel as though I was imposing on his time, that he had better things to do. He asked me if I wanted to speak to Elizabeth Faulkner to begin the planning process for surgery and I said yes. He left the room very abruptly and some gal came in and escorted me to Elizabeth's office. Elizabeth had the bedside manner of a doorknob. Dr. Poletti's medical assistant Wendy has the bedside manner of a cranky old coot. I will never ever return to that horrific organization. If I could have run out of there I would have but I walk with a cane. read more

I would absolutle not be walking if not for Dr. Poletti and The Spine Institute. have a degenerative disc diseas. I have had 6 surgeries over the l a st 20 years which included 6 discectomies and one laminectome. In my late sixties and still doing a lot of physical work inside and out. Granted they have hard some growing pains since they moved into the larger facilities but I have only had one complaint which was immediately resolved, and I have an appointment at least every 3 months for pain management since 2010. Since mine is genetic I have seen this going back as far as my great-grandfather up to my children and nephews an I have had the best care of any one. Except for my daughter who is also a paitent. They have taken care of issues without surgery for 7 years. I know of dozens or peo that have had extremely good results and can only explain the low rating to the multitude of people with happy results taking the time to give o review. I can only give them the highest recomendation possible. read more

I went to the ER with excruciating pain in my neck and shoulder on Sunday. They made the pain a little better, enough where I could cope with it as long as I did not do anything but lay around. I went to a spine doctor on Wednesday and they gave me different muscle relaxers and were going to set me up for an MRI in 12 days. The meds They gave me made it a little better but I still could not work. I decided to try the Spine Institute and I went to see Dr Bryon on Friday and I am set up for an MRI on this coming Tuesday. He gave me meds that help with nerve pain. In less than 1 day he has me feeling like I can finally go back to work. They were amazing and I highly recommend them to any and everyone! I wish I would have gone to them after the ER instead of wasting my time and money with the other spine practice. read more

I had surgery with Dr. Poletti in May 2019 after over 2 years of pain. I'd tried everything and was desperate for relief from the constant pain. The consult with Dr. Poletti was very honest. He told me that since my back injury was a good while ago the results could not be what we hoped for. I was willing to take the chance. The surgery experience was excellent! I felt like I had a nice nap. I had minimal surgery site pain, but it did take over a month for me to see improvement in the sciatica. I have been able to drastically decrease my pain meds and the change in my quality of life has been wonderful! I just wish that I had come to Southeastern Spine Institute sooner. Unfortunately, since my injury was initially worker's comp it was difficult to get good care. read more

I cannot say enough about how efficient SSI runs. I was looking for a second opinion on an upcoming surgery. I checked in and was called back almost immediately. I met Dr. Frisch and he went over the images I had brought with me. He wanted an up-to-date MRI and Nerve Study. His nurses scheduled both that same day. I would have gotten results that day but Dr. Frisch was out that afternoon. I saw him the next morning and once again, no waiting. Dr. Frisch recommended an injection along with physical therapy. Before I could walk to the next building (two buildings are very close) they were ready for me. This care across two days would not have been accomplished in two months locally. I am Grateful and Blessed to have had Dr. Timothy Bryan as my surgeon on February 22, 2019. I broke my back putting my dog in the car in an accident that happened in an instance. As a 69 year old very active runner and horseback rider, I could not believe this would happen to me. The Southeastern Spine Institute was the perfect place for me to go. I had spinal fusion with titanium rods at L-4 & L-5. Before surgery, my left leg was numb from the knee down and I had drop foot. After surgery, I could move my left foot again. I elected to do acupuncture instead of pain medication and I am doing very well. In a little over three months with physical therapy, I am so Thankful. Everyone at the Southeastern Spine Institute has been so helpful and caring. read more

Well what can i say i had a fusion way back when Dr.Donald Johnson had a very small office right across the street from the old ST francis hospital.he did a fusion on my lower back but he HAD A teaching or something somewhere so he let his new partner who started on that day do my in hospital care that was Dr. Poletti ON HIS FIRST WEEK that was truly a long time ago i never had a problem at all from the surgery until i got in a car wreck the short version i had to have my entire lumbar spine fused wow thats a lot of fusing i now see Dr. Netherton for my pain control and he has done some wonderful things for me so when i tell you that these people care about you and your problem you can believe ME much love and appreciation Chis Tuten read more

I have to say, I was very impressed with how fast I was able to get an appt. I have suffered with this pain for a few years. I needed to see with my own eyes what was causing the pain. Though I know it is a process and nothing is 100%, I am looking forward to having my life back. I enjoy gardening, swimming, biking... But the pain makes it impossible for now. Dr Bryan and his staff give me hope! I watched my mom go from a very active RN to someone who rarely moved. Her back gave her so much pain. She waited to late. I'm looking forward to life!!!!! Dr. Anderson has been treating my thorasic spine for a number of years now. He is the only Spine Doctor that can help my gait without having thorasic surgery. When I get my thorasic injections from the Spine Institute I usually get 100% relief. When walking after my injections, I feel like a new person. When visiting other pain management doctors I MAY get a 50-60% relief. I absolutely need 100% relief to allow me to walk without dipping at the knee or walk up a ramps, etc. I love going to Dr. Anderson because I know I will get complete relief in my thorasic spine. After 4 botched surgeries in Florence, SC, Dr. Poletti literally saved my life. I had given up thinking I might not ever walk again. After he reviewed my scans and records, Dr. Poletti found what the other two couldn't. After my 5th and final surgery, I was walking the next day. Things aren't perfect due to the previous 4, but I am getting around without a wheelchair or walker and driving again. I am forever in your debt sir. The Physical Therapy Department is the best around. I had an incomplete spinal cord injury last July (2021, while on vacation). After having inpatient Pt in Michigan, I started outpatient PT in last August (2021), 3 days after coming home. Bu Samm and Sarah were great. I came to PT walking with a rollator walker and wearing leg brace. They worked very hard challenging me with the PT exercises. I am now walking without any assistance. I was released from PT the last of February (2022). I traveled 1 hour each way because I believe this PT department is the best place for any spinal cord injury. read more

Oh my Gosh!!!! I cant Thank Dr. Pollitte and the staff of SSI enough. I woke up today without back pain for the first time in 14 months. I forgot what it felt like to not be in pain. I know I cant get back to regular activities for a few more days, but just being pain free is a huge blessing. I should went to SSI months ago, but I kept thinking the Chiropractor and physical theropy would fix it. I was totally wrong as my lower back continually got worse until I could bearly walk. I'm looking forward to getting back to working out and coaching my kids baseball and football teams again. read more

SESI has the best international spine care anywhere. I have been a SESI family member for 15 years. I say family member as you are treated so well there. The doctors and PA's truly care and know how to weed out malingers .. which give pain management a bad name. Within the Institute you can find a surgery center, physical therapy suite, and a floor totally dedicated to doctors and PA's. Dr Don Johnson performed back surgery on my wife 2 years ago assuring her it would fix her problem. A year later with no health improvement he suggested a Spinal stimulator surgery. Now a year later no improvement and now sitting in another hospital as my wife receives her 3rd back surgery by another physician outside of Dr Johnson's Southeastern Spine group. Beware. The doctors at this facility are excellent. I have cervical neck problems and had to have surgery as my spinal cord did not have enough room to move without making contact and causing episodes of headaches and blood pressure spikes along with other issues. Dr. Anderson performed surgery to give me some relief although I have other problems such as degenerative disc disease but I am much better. He became very concerned when he saw my MRI. This is the place to go if you have any spinal issues. They have all the latest technology and best doctors. read more

I am a nurse that have busted my tail lifting people to big for me along with lifting the weight of the world over my years. The only great place I have found is right here. I'm a mom and an active grandmother lifting our babies and car seats too! During my follow-up phone call with Stacey, I was trying to better understand why I was being referred elsewhere instead of scheduling directly for imaging. Unfortunately, the conversation became unnecessarily tense and dismissive. I felt spoken to in a passive-aggressive and condescending manner while asking questions about the process. I understand medical offices are busy and stressful environments, but professionalism and patience matter, especially when patients are already confused or dealing with health concerns. People make mistakes, ask questions, and need clarification. The way staff communicate can greatly impact someone's experience. I hope the practice takes patient communication seriously moving forward, because no patient should leave a call feeling belittled for trying to understand their care process.

His staff is friendly, compassionate, and will go the extra mile to assist you with all of your needs and concerns. After my visit to the emergency room, I made an appointment to see Dr. Johanesmeyer. He saw my X-Rays and we discussed his plan of action has including Ankle repair surgery, fitting me with splints, boots, and physical therapy. I have been prescribed pain medication to hold me over until the surgery. He did advice that due to my multiple broken bones, i will experience arthritis. 3/29 @ 6am I underwent Open reduction and internal fixation (ORIF) is a type of surgery used to stabilize and heal a broken bones. In my case, I had 6 plus broken bones. 2 weeks later I had my post-op appointment. X-rays were taken and I waited for the doctor. Upon removal of my cast and bandages We discovered extensive swelling along with monstrous looking fracture blisters. I was in total shock. Dr. Johanesmeyer Explained to me what fracture blisters were and how to treat them. He also Explained the Titanium hardware in my foot ( I nearly fainted). He went over the process of the surgery along with the incisions he made around the fracture blisters and why. My stitches are neat, and the incisions were all in straight lines. I must say he did a wonderful job. Dr.Johanesmeyer advised me to return in a week to see if the swelling goes down enough to remove the stitches and fit me for a stabilizing boot. He also provided me with pain medication and Gabapentin for my burning, tingling, ice picks, and cold nerve pain. 1.) Office Staff : 5 2.) Location: 5 3.) Dr. Services and treatment plan:5 4) Prices: 4 5) Office following Covid Protocols: 5 Dr. Johanesmeyer takes the time to ask you questions and to address all of your concerns. He is Wonderful! I am looking forward to recovering from this injury and getting on with the rest of my life through Dr.Johanesmeyer treatment plan.
