My roadside assistance provider requested their service for my tow. I called them directly after I received notification. The driver said he would call when he was 15 minutes away. I waited 4 hours. Called to get starter fixed. Was told (after waiting an hour to see if they had the part) that they had a starter and could get my car fixed that day. So I had my car towed, by their own tow truck, to their business where I was finally told that the part wouldn't fit my car. So they had to have a part delivered and now it'd be another day until it could be fixed. Instead of asking one question about my car to determine if the part would fit (after an hour wait) they waited until my car was already on their premises. This was a classic bait and switch. "Sure we can fix it today. Oh, now that your car is here, and you owe us for a tow, we can't fix it until tomorrow!" Their solution was to give me their minimal AAA discount though I wasn't a member. Very slow service. Twice now I have visited to get an oil change, and both times was quoted a wait time of 15 minutes. It ended up taking over two and a half hours, both times. I would recommend going somewhere else. I talked to the owner both times, and he was did not offer a discount at all. Staff was friendly enough, but doesn't excuse the long wait. The cost ($65) was also more than expected for a basic oil change. I will not be going back, and encourage potential customers to spend their money elsewhere! read more

I've taken my car to Thompson's for years, and I try to not go anywhere else, even for oil changes. I'm a big fan. They've been very helpful and accommodating, and they do what they say they're going to do. Usually the mechanic comes to talk to me before I drive my car away, to let me know what's been done and what else may be needed. I trust them and I like the people who work there. (They feel like family by now.) Also just a few steps from a convenience store and fast food place, and the fabulous Duluth Grill, so if you have to wait, you do have options other than car magazines. I've had great service over many years at Thompson's with multiple cars. They could have charged my husband and I a lot more if they were scammers but multiple times I left with a very small bill having expected much more. There have been a few times when it took longer to have service completed but it was when I dropped in without an appointment hoping for service the same day. They are honest if they can't get me in that day. read more

Stopped in and asked them to check few areas of concern. Within a day of being there my radiator leak was worse and the noise underneath was even louder. Lastly because of needing to take back seats out to look at a few things got grease all over back seats, driver seat, doors etc. I've been there before and had decent service but after this I'll pass. read more

I took my car to Thompson T Express because I wanted to support a local business. I brought my car to them and told them I needed the ignition coil replaced. I asked a price but they could not provide one until they looked at it. Later they called and said it would cost $260 and that the repair needed was to replace the ignition coil. The one good thing I can say about this business is that they had timely service. My car was repaired within 2 hours of bringing it in. When I picked up my car and looked at the bill I did not understand some of the charges. I asked the worker at the desk. He answered my questions, but had a rude demeanor that did not make me feel comfortable questioning the bill. I looked up the price for an ignition coil online and it was quoted between $35 - $70. Thompson T Express charged me $115 for the part. When asked why it was so much he said he only gets his parts from Napa because other places sell cheap and unwarranted parts. When asked why I was charged a $75 fee for a diagnostic test when I already knew what was wrong with my car before brining it in he had another curt replay of "we didn't know which ignition coil it was." Autozone did a free diagnostic on my car and told me it was cylinder 3 ignition coil. The printout for this was on the front of my seat in the car and I could have told Thompson T express this had they asked me specifically which cylinder it was before doing an expensive unnecessary test. I left the shop crying not only because I know I was charged more than was necessary but also because the worker was rude when answering my questions. I called another place to be quoted on how much this repair with labor would cost and was quoted at $180. Therefore Thompson T Express overcharged me by about $80. I will never go to this shop again. read more
