I used to live in Garrard County and would pass AHON on trips to/from Lexington. Between recognizing the name from my drives and a good friend's recommendation - I decided to take our 'kids' there. We started seeing Dr. Fox with my (2) transplanted cats who each lived to around 19 years old. We had to euthanize them (within a year apart) and I still feel - to this day - Dr. Fox's compassion. We then were adopted by a community cat who - once we moved him inside - discovered was FIV positive. Through AHON, I learned about caring for a FIV kitty and ended up adopting another FIV positive kitten through them. In 2011- we decided we were ready for a puppy and adopted a German Shepherd through the No Kill shelter in Lancaster. Just this past December we had to let my boy go and my heart still aches just writing about him (you will my beautiful boy on AHON's recently departed board). Again - the support for the hardest decision a pet owner has to make - from Dr. Fox and the entire AHON team - was unforgetable. They have a room specifically dedicated to saying goodbye and help you both before and after with the painful process. On the less emotional side of this review - I've always been able to easily schedule appointments and once there - have never felt rushed. The staff takes the time to educate me and enable me to best care for my 4-legged kids. We moved to Lexington 7 years ago and I still take them to AHON because I can't think of anywhere else I'd trust more with their lives. Thank you, Dr. Fox and AHON, for all you do.

The staff was so friendly and of course Shadow was his charming self until it came to the exam lol. They were gentle with him and gave him plenty of treats afterwards . His Doctor was friendly and very enthusiastic about Shadow being in such good shape . He has nice teeth , clean ears, clear lungs . Knowing all of this made me relax more. He got a clean bill of health with the exception that he's FIV positive. Shadow is the only cat in our house and he's strictly a indoor cat. Even with that he can and will live a full life . One of the ladies did agree with me that he looks like he's part Russian Blue. In terms of cost the initial exam was free because we adopted him from LHS . I did pay for some additional testing and I think it was a fair price . Shadow does have pet insurance for those just in case moments hopefully they'll be none of those. Shadow will continue to to there for check ups and future shots .

Grabbing them by their scruff in a very rough manner for zero reason. It just didn't make sense. On top of that, an older male who was present (in and out of the room) was very rude toward me. He had made mention of my cat's cleft palate which isn't a cleft palate at all and I was getting ready to explain what was really going on with her mouth, as I spoke up, he abruptly walked away while I was speaking to him. Rude. One of my cats was given meds for parasites and the young lady put it on in the wrong spot. You could look on the back of her neck and see that it was too far to the right. The whole point of having it right at the nape is so the animal can't get to it. My assumption is that she was able to get to it, because she threw up and had diarrhea all night. I wasn't told before or after that this med could cause this sort of side effect. Thank goodness she seems okay now Anyway, this place wasn't terrible. The young lady working the receptionist desk was very kind and polite, the young lady who checked out my animals was not impolite or rude toward me, but handled my cats roughly and misplaced the meds and did not give info on possible side effects before or after administering, and the older man (my guess is he is the actual Vet, but no one introduced themselves or gave their titles) was very rude and dismissive toward me by walking away while I was speaking. I don't take disrespect lightly so I'll never go back to this place. Be nicer and more respectful to your customers and be gentler with the animals.

They were quick, knowledgeable (I had lots of questions!), and everyone in the building was nice. I call monthly to get refills on my pups heart guard with no issues. We had an emergency situation one evening pretty late. The on call Vet answered immediately. He listened and explained everything we needed to do. I will continue to use The Animal Clinic.

As soon as I got her in my truck I called the office. The person that answered my call said head this way and we will be waiting for you. My Lab had three office visits and on the last visit she needed anesthesia to place a drain to remove internal bleeding on the right side of her abdomen. The total charges for all three visits was a very reasonable $210.00. Everyone in my family uses this vet and we would highly recommend them.

Buddy a rambunctious big boy somehow managed to hurt his ankle/paw area. Buddy eventually had to have surgery and follow up visits. Each visit he was showered with compliments, belly rubs, treats, and accolades of Good Boy! Neither Buddy or his doting parents ever lacked for attention or follow up calls.
