I've been bringing our pets to Animal Hospital of Nicholasville (AHON) since I moved to Kentucky…read more20'ish years ago. I'm pretty sure this is right around when Dr. Fox started with AHON. I used to live in Garrard County and would pass AHON on trips to/from Lexington. Between recognizing the name from my drives and a good friend's recommendation - I decided to take our 'kids' there. We started seeing Dr. Fox with my (2) transplanted cats who each lived to around 19 years old. We had to euthanize them (within a year apart) and I still feel - to this day - Dr. Fox's compassion. We then were adopted by a community cat who - once we moved him inside - discovered was FIV positive. Through AHON, I learned about caring for a FIV kitty and ended up adopting another FIV positive kitten through them. In 2011- we decided we were ready for a puppy and adopted a German Shepherd through the No Kill shelter in Lancaster. Just this past December we had to let my boy go and my heart still aches just writing about him (you will my beautiful boy on AHON's recently departed board). Again - the support for the hardest decision a pet owner has to make - from Dr. Fox and the entire AHON team - was unforgetable. They have a room specifically dedicated to saying goodbye and help you both before and after with the painful process. On the less emotional side of this review - I've always been able to easily schedule appointments and once there - have never felt rushed. The staff takes the time to educate me and enable me to best care for my 4-legged kids. We moved to Lexington 7 years ago and I still take them to AHON because I can't think of anywhere else I'd trust more with their lives. Thank you, Dr. Fox and AHON, for all you do.

I happened to check the pet cams at work and saw it happening. I rushed home to get him to the vet. Once bloat sets in, it's a surgical emergency and there's less than 2 hrs to correct it before it's fatal. I was turned down by Gainesway Animal Hospital because we weren't a patient and Tates Creek accepted us with open arms no questions asked. I was running out of time and the ER vet and our regular vet were too far and traffic was standstill. Dr. Henze met me in the parking lot to help me with him and he immediately went into an over 3 hour difficult surgery. I am so grateful for Tates Creek and their staff. They saved my dog's life, helped us, and showed so much care and compassion. Ash's stomach was twisted so badly that 15 minutes longer and he wouldn't have made it. I have had several animals vetted there prior to change in ownership and they were wonderful. Even helped me with my semi feral cat who gets bad allergy breakouts. They vetted him by picture and it worked. Otherwise, I have to trap the poor kitty with a coon trap. New vet won't prescribe the medication (saying it's illegal / a steroid) unless he is seen. Won't to do it with pictures even though we've been treating him for years this way (he's indoor for 9 years but still won't be picked up). So the cat gets to suffer OR be mentally anguished by being trapped. I guess the original vet wasn't worried about jail time. He was worried for the animal. Will be taking ALL my animals elsewhere going forward.

My standard poodle, Bailey, had an accident which chipped her heel and tore her achilles tendon…read morefrom the bone and shredded it. Went to a doc in Cynthiana was told what the damage was and I needed an orthopedic surgeon. They said there was no one locally that did that kind of surgery. I could go to Cincinnati or Louisville or there is one that travels to Georgetown periodically that they would put me in touch with. They said it would be expensive $4500+ and it would be 2 weeks before he could do it. If I couldn't afford it then they said I could do nothing and it would just hang there with no use or amputate! I refused to believe there was no one else!! Lexington?! Really?!? So in a panic I started calling vets to see if I could get referrals for a vet that does orthopedic surgery and I got several diff referrals and was waiting for callbacks when I called the Animal Care Clinic in Lexington. Lori answered the phone right away and was so kind and helped calm me down then she said "let me call the Dr and I will call you right back." I sent her images for Bailey's leg and figured it would be awhile but within 5 min she called me back and said "the Dr said come in the morning and he will take a look and that he thought he could help her." I literally cried! The next morning I walked into the office. I was amazed!!! There wasn't room full of people and their pets in an overcrowded waiting room. It was like walking into a very nice hospital! It was decorated so nicely! It was clean and organized! I immediately was greeted by Ms. Christina at reception and she took me straight to a room. Lori came in and then Dr. Schroyer. He examined Bailey and sat down and explained her injury, how he would repair it, recovery time etc. I was worried it was going to be a fortune but he was so much more affordable! It made it possible for us to afford it. The surgery went great. We went home and the office would call periodically to check on her progress between follow-up visits. Animal Care Clinic was the ABSOLUTE BEST clinic I have ever been to!! Working with rescues I have seen quite a few clinics so I can say with confidence you will not be disappointed with Animal Care Clinic!!! We stop by just to say hi when we're are in Lex!! She runs in so excited to see everyone!!! I figured she would be afraid to go in but even today she gets so excited!!! A dog being happy to go to the vet's office after surgery?!??! That should say it all!!! Bailey is great today and we want to thank the entire Animal Care Clinic, Dr. Schroyer and the entire staff!!! They are part of our family now!!

He got a clean bill of health with the exception that he's FIV positive. Shadow is the only cat in our house and he's strictly a indoor cat. Even with that he can and will live a full life . One of the ladies did agree with me that he looks like he's part Russian Blue. In terms of cost the initial exam was free because we adopted him from LHS . Once bloat sets in you're on a short time clock to get them into surgery. I RUSHED home and called them..BEGGING them to take us. My vet downtown was too far away. I was told they didn't have an appointment until later in the week. I realize we weren't patients, and accepting us would've messed up their morning appointments... but it was an EMERGENCY. They told us to go to Tates Creek or MedVet. We would've never made it to the ER. The traffic on Tates creek just to get to new circle was standstill at 8am and he was deteriorating fast. Thank GOD Tates Creek took us no question. When they did the surgery they said his stomach was twisted 360 and if it was 15 mins later he wouldn't have made it. I will NEVER bring my animals to Gainesway. I worked for a small animal clinic in CT for 13 years. I know how things work and they could've tried to help save my dog and did not. We have experienced aggressive groomers in the past and since then she has not been the best with groomers. I informed Julie (the sole Owner and Operstor) of this and informed her to stop the session if my pet was too anxious or stressed out. I reinforced that I would still pay in full, but to prioritize the dogs comfort. I'm not sure what happened during the session.... But based on the physical injuries from my pet on my pet, I would like to assume there was some rushing, and aggressive maneuvers. I found active bleeding in her ear from aggressive plucking, I found scabs near her neck and groin area, and my pet seemed emotionally traumatized once again. My pet refused to eat for 2 days and did not go outside in fear of potentially encountering another groomer. Months of behavioral training just thrown out the window. I'm back to square one... For the sake of my pet, Im investing in a grooming kit and will be grooming my own pet from now on. You failed as a groomer and permanently shutting down your Google business pages to dodge public accountability and leaving a final replies just so you could get the "last word" is pathetic. It's also funny that your Google page didn't get any activity for a couple years, but right after I left my 1 star review, two of your friends drowned it out with a 5 star review. Either that or crazy coincidence lol. Additionally, since you closed your business page I cannot reply to your Google comments to address my concerns, but here I am voicing my opinion to ensure others pets are not traumatized by you.
