Went to Brighton for years with multiple pets - two dogs and one cat, even took in a stray my son found once. Always happy with care there, although seemed on the high side for expenses. In the midst of the severe icy weather on February 6, 2026, my husband took our dogs to the vet because one of them had a broken nail that needed attention. They came in and took that dog through to the exam room and our other dog, #Skipper, slipped through that door, ran through the staff area, through and open door into another exam room that was empty, out that door to the lobby and out the front door. It was snowing and very cold and we never found our dog again, despite searching daily for over a month. In the first few minutes after he ran from the building, a few staff went to the parking lot and around the building to help find him and filled out a missing dog report with animal control. We never found our dog. After that day, we never heard from the vet's office again. Not a phone call, not a mention on their social media pages, not a "please look for our lost friend" announcement. Nothing. The day he went missing we searched all afternoon in the freezing cold. Crying and upset, I went back to their office asking for advice and help at 5:45 pm just before they closed - as the temperature was dropping to the teens. The desk attendant said, "I'm sure he's fine and he'll turn up". Losing Skipper was horrible. Having no contact or concern showed from our vet (who bears some responsibility due to lax security and open doors in his disappearance) made it even worse. We've still heard nothing from them, five months later. So, consider this when looking for a caregiver for your family pet. If you love your pet like family, you should be able to count on your vet for support even should the worst happen. read more

When my regular vet couldn't get my very sick cat in to be seen the folks at Brighton Animal Clinic saw him and helped immensely!! So thankful for Dr. Montgomery and the staff at Brighton!! We have switched and this is now "our vet"!! read more

So apparently, life hits and Wilde "Buddy" Cat has grown from a crazy kitten to a Wilde Cat (haha!). He apparently began spraying and this is the limit for this vet. They need to be neutered to in order to continue their boarding service. I thank this clinic for making themselves available to Wilde when I needed a place for him to go when I was out of town. Cannot recommend Brighton Animal Clinic enough. While my husband and I were in town over Christmas, our sweet 7 year old yorkie went into kidney failure after rapidly progressing kidney disease. They squeezed us in in 30 minutes, an hour before close, despite having no appointments. They were beyond gentle and understanding. Our vet offered us wise counsel and advised regarding potential intervention options as well as what would be best for our girls quality of life. The vet listened to everything we had to say about our girls behavior and was not dismissive whatsoever. After lots of consideration with the doctor, we scheduled an appointment the next day at 4:30 for our girl to cross her rainbow bridge. She took a turn for the worst before her appointment and they told us to call them if that happened and we could come in whenever we needed. They were so accommodating and understanding. They genuinely had her best interest at heart. When we walked in their waiting room, they had a candle lit for us next to a sign that read "If this candle is lit someone is saying goodbye to their beloved pet, please speak gently and with respect during this difficult time. We appreciate your patience and understanding." I was blown away by the consideration and kindness in this action. They were very very communicative and explained the process to us in detail every step of the way. They allowed for lots of privacy and lots of time, we never felt rushed. They offered our girl some treats they had in the back as a send off moment. They gave us a door bell ringer to push whenever we were ready for her time to come. Once we pressed it, they came in and put in the IV catheter and left to give us more time. When we pushed it again, the doctor and tech came in and allowed us as much time as needed before giving her her sedative. Once the sedative was given, they allowed us to let them know when we felt ready for her overdose. After her passing, I held her for as long as I wanted with no rush. They asked if we would like a lock of her hair and we declined but it was a very kind ask. We brought clay to take her paw prints and the tech was so accommodating and helpful in getting her prints. She even trimmed her nails and her paw pads before getting her prints. They put us in a room with a side door to provide some additional privacy in our exit. We had a couch and rocking chair and lots of tissues in our room as well, to provide some extra comfort. They are very thoughtful and intentional in all their little details. Unfortunately, my husband and I live an hour and a half from Lexington so it won't be feasible to make Brighton our regular vet for future dogs. However, I HIGHLY HIGHLY HIGHLY recommend Brighton to anyone in the Lexington area, especially for older dogs and their end of life care. Brightons visit cost is very reasonable, especially compared to other Lexington offices. My family is very thankful for such a kind office to care for our sweet girl when her time came. read more

I've taken my dogs to Brighton for nearly 10 years and have never considered switching practices. They have never turned me away for same-day appointments in emergency or near-emergency situations; and when a friend's pet was experiencing a medical emergency a couple of years ago, my first words to them were, "Call Brighton - they will take care of them." Updated review from 5 stars to 1 star NOT GOOD. This place has changed from a group that simply cares about animals. Now it's about MONEY. They seem to try to make a person feel guilty for not paying hundreds of dollars each visit for things that are not for sure necessary. I have been a loyal custom for over a decade. I love dogs and have 3 rescues. I can't afford thousands of dollar each year for their vet bills. Doesn't make me a bad owner or person. I take great care of them. September 8 2022 I took 1 of my 3 dogs for her annual. When I asked to just do the basics and keep the cost of the visit low things started feeling weird. I sat in the front with my 2 dogs while they took the 1 in the back. A staff member came out and told me I had to sign a document saying I refused to allow care for my dog. I'm not a lawyer and don't sign things I am not sure of the meanings and how it will be used. I refused to sign after being told it was for liability reasons. A 2nd staff member came out a few minutes later with the same form insisting I sign. Saying it's was a legal document. I ask to have my dog brought out to me and she refused to do so saying she would have to ask if that's ok to do!!!! I protested and stated that I don't appreciate them trying to make me feel bad about myself and the care I provide my dogs. I felt insulted Not good!!! I requested the person at the front desk print out copies of ALL our records and stated I want to no longer use their services. The office manager then comes out and tried to make me sign. He says it's a standard of care document. Wait.... Liability document then legal , now standard of care? When I told him I no longer want their services and ask for my dogs records he became hostile and threatened to add notes to today's visit. Why? Was he trying to cause harm and make it difficult for me to seek care for them elsewhere? Is this what's best for my dogs? He refused to give me the records for my 3 dogs that I requested from the receptionist The records were already printed and stapled together lying on a desk right in plain sight. I asked for them again he said those are not your records. I said, yes they are she had already told me they were. He he got angry and told me to leave and refused to let me pay for todays services. I have been looking for a vet for my miniature golden doodle in Lexington for 2 years. A neighbor recommended Brighton and I realized how close it was to my house. They got us in so quick and they were so friendly. My dog is very anxious so when I got there and they told me they weren't letting people in with their doggos I was upset, but as soon as I met with them I realized she was in great hands. They gave her lots of treats and pets throughout her visit and she was a happy girl when she came out. The vet called me directly and spoke with me about Millie while she was back there. She was so kind and complimentary of my Millie. While I was there I asked for recommendations for a few other things and they answered all my questions. I ended up getting grooming set up for both my puppers and a vet visit for my other doodle. When it comes to grooming they did a fantastic job! I recommend them to anyone in Lexington or the Hamburg area! Can't wait to keep seeing them for years to come! read more

I cannot say enough good things about this vet! We recently moved here from a big city and were a little nervous about finding a great vet. We had an older bloodhound with cancer who needed a lot of attention. From our very first visit to the day we put our dog down, the staff at BAC were amazing. We always felt welcome and special and they treated our dog like one they had known for years. They were the perfect blend of compassionate yet professional. After our dog passed, they sent a card signed by the staff. It was a little gesture, but it meant a lot. I would HIGHLY recommend this clinic! read more
