We actually showed up half an hour early for our appointment and we were able to be seen right away. The staff was so friendly and of course Shadow was his charming self until it came to the exam lol. They were gentle with him and gave him plenty of treats afterwards . His Doctor was friendly and very enthusiastic about Shadow being in such good shape . He has nice teeth , clean ears, clear lungs . Knowing all of this made me relax more. He got a clean bill of health with the exception that he's FIV positive. Shadow is the only cat in our house and he's strictly a indoor cat. Even with that he can and will live a full life . One of the ladies did agree with me that he looks like he's part Russian Blue. In terms of cost the initial exam was free because we adopted him from LHS . I did pay for some additional testing and I think it was a fair price . Shadow does have pet insurance for those just in case moments hopefully they'll be none of those. Shadow will continue to to there for check ups and future shots . read more

They are so wonderful there!! I highly recommend anyone taking their pets there. I love taking my pets there. Everyone there are so caring

I started taking my rescue tabby here two years ago. The vets are superb and sympathetic, and they relate well with my girl. Fees are reasonable, too. read more

I called this place because I am looking for a new away from home for my nonneutered male cat. This place could have been an option, but they do not allow long stays. From the information I had received, they only board cats for a week at the longest. They did, however, refer me over to Keshlyn Kennel and it was a good referral. Read me review on them. read more

Worked with (3) different doctors for (3) appointments. The final appointment, my kitty was treated like a transaction. There was minimal compassion and all business. Please think twice about entrusting your beloved pet to this establishment. read more

I gave two stars out of courtesy because I didn't see or speak with a veterinarian. I have not used them and most likely won't because of what follows. Wanted money upfront for first time appointment to "hold my time slot ". Receptionist asked why was I wanting my dog to be seen, then proceeded to tell me possible causes and what I should try first! (Are you honestly talking me out of being seen?) My dog has bloody diarrhea! I don't think I need the receptionist treating my dog! read more

I am always very pleased with my experience here. They entire staff is nice, helpful and knowledgeable. I have a big 90lb pit mix and the staff just show how much they love him. My dog recently had surgery on his knee and he's recovering nicely and I owe that to the staff. read more

I've been going to Richmond Rd Vet clinic for the last 45 years! Literally every dog I've ever had has been seen at Richmond Rd Vet. Dr. Snyder has retired and Dr. Smith is excellent. He is very compassionate and always willing to take my after hour calls if needed when a concern arises. I highly recommend this office . read more

I love this place !!! After relocating from Florida I found this place. My cat Cleo was very sick and the entire staff was very sweet and friendly. Kevin Smith was my veterinarian. He explained everything to me in detail regarding my sick cat. I could not be more thankful for such an amazing staff and vet. I highly recommend this place and all of their staff. Special thanks to Dr. Smith. They exceeded my expectations and ensure the best care of any vet by far that I have been to in my 20 plus years of animal rescue and animal ownership. The Clinic also sent me a very sweet card regarding my loss of my pet. Couldn't ask for more. If you are looking for a good vet with an amazing staff, look no further. I highly recommend!!! read more

I just got my first puppy as an adult back in May and was really nervous with what to do. I looked around for many days trying to find the perfect vet and came across this clinic. They are the friendliest people I've ever met and truly care about my Layla, they play with her and talk to her and even comfort her when she needs a shot. She loves going and I've had no problems. The most it's been for her very first 8 week appointment was $240 which in the grand scheme of things is not bad. I would recommend this vet office to anyone. Especially Dr. Finch who my puppy cannot calm down when she sees her. I cannot wait for us to all watch my baby grow and I know that as long as she is alive she will always go here! read more

My wife has been going here for years with all of our pets and simply loves visiting here. Several years ago, this office was doing a routine procedure with a nine-month old kitten when the poor little fellah's heart and lungs gave out due to an unexpected congenital defect. This office was amazingly sweet. They called us to come over late at night when things started going poorly, trying to get us there before the inevitable happened. Even had him later cremated by our request, and gave us a pawprint impression and charged us NOTHING. ZERO. ZIP. ZILCH. And, although Veterinarian visits are often expensive, this place is quite reasonable. And they recently remodeled their facility! I can't really see us taking our pets anywhere in the near future. We will definitely visit here time and time again. read more

Richmond Road Veterinary Clinic is a wonderful animal clinic. As my dog grew older and began having issues, the staff at RRVC were there helping me care for and keeping her at her healthiest. They are friendly and knowledgeable. Whenever I called, I talked to a person, not a recording. The office staff is fantastic, everyone is smiling and friendly. They listened and returned my call with the answer from the vet when I had a question. I felt that everyone there loves animals and has only the best in mind for care. The vets and techs are great and are thorough in their examination and recommendations of next steps. They also understand that money can be an issue and did not push to do things that I could not afford. Unfortunately, my dog had to be euthanized for cancer. Everyone there was so compassionate and caring during the difficult process of saying goodbye. They treated her like they would treat their own pets and I will forever be grateful to them. I highly recommend RRVC to anyone looking for a talented team to help care for a pet. They will assist in helping them to live a long and happy life. read more

Excellent vet! Dr.Holaday is really caring and compassionate! My baby needed emergency on his bbladder due to a blockage. She got him in within 25 minutes after my call, and got him into surgery with an hour of arrival! The doctor herself called us several times a day with updates. They allowed me to come visit while he was there. When an infection popped up on Sunday afternoon we called Dr Holaday ( she had given us her cell $) at 9am and she saw him at 11am. Excellent!!! read more

Wonderful caring staff and the best veterinarian in town! Ty Dr. Holaday! They genuinely care about your babies and even call to follow up on them afterward! So gentle and kind! I'm so glad to have my babies there in excellent hands! They even sent a sweet card when my cat Jax passed away. They helped me with the cremation as well. I can't say enough wonderful things about Richmond Road Veterinary Clinic! read more

My husband and I were traveling from out of state with our beagle. She had an unusual allergic reaction. We randomly picked Richmond Road Veterinary clinic. I am so thankful we did. I highly recommend this clinic for any pet. read more

Outstanding vets here to take care of your fur babies. Typically see Dr Wynn who is one of the kindest, compassionate, knowledgeable vets. She will get down on the floor while examining my dog. Had an emergency and saw Dr. Holaday which lead to emergency surgery just prior to Thanksgiving. Dr Holaday called or texted us over her holiday to check on my dog. The techs are very kind and really show that they love their jobs. read more

Boarded my two kittens here for a week while on my cruise and even had their checkup. Lovely staff and a friendly vibe. They took very good care of my little ones and answered all of my questions well. Definitely coming back! read more

We recently moved to the Lexington area and lucked out upon finding a clinic up here with the same quality care we found at our previous vet. Whether it's Dr. Wynn, Dr. Holaday or Dr. Hancock, we've been so impressed by the investment that this team puts into not only our pups, but into educating us on the care plan. They have even gone so far (on multiple occasions) to call us on weekends or after closing time just to answer our questions and put us at ease. We are so grateful for this group. read more

This is a wonderful place! Great service and people! They even sent a signed condolence card even though I only used them once! Thank you for everything you afforded me during my time of need! read more

They took care of Crockett and they where so kind. We've since decided to make them our vets. Our vet is super sweet he goes over any questions that we have. They haven't had any problems getting us in and have been very helpful. I know that when we take Crockett to the vet he is getting taken care of. Also for a couple just starting out we are really happy that we can afford the visits. I'm glad I found Richmond road veterinary. They will take awesome care of your fur babies. read more

Richmond Road Veterinary Clinic - A happy patient! - Veterinarians Near Me - Lexington, Kentucky

Doc Holoday is awesome to all of our dogs. She's fast but makes sure your questions are answered before you leave. We have taken our dogs there since moving to Kentucky and have not been disappointed. I have never waited more than a few minutes before she sees my dogs. They have treats in all the exam rooms which helps distract the dogs while being treated. We had to put one of my dogs down last year and they were very comforting and respectful. They offered me as much time as I needed to say goodbye. I could have probably stayed until midnight if I wanted. We have an Australian shepherd that is very protective of my wife. I thought it would cause an issue at the vet but Dr. Holoday and the whole staff has earned the trust of my two dogs as well as my wife and I. The staff is also awesome. They are always friendly and treat my dogs like they are theirs. read more

Have to admit writing this is a bit heart breaking for me. Dr. Marsh and his staff see my two cats. Staff is excellent with all the exams, very courteous, never have to wait for their appointments. Sadly, last Friday, after our kittens neutering and declaw, Crookshanks passed away. What comforts me most and has convinced me to keep bringing my Khamir here is that they were checking on my little man at 8:00 on a Friday night. Noticed some breathing problems and Dr. Marsh was on the phone with me right away. Letting me know what was happening and everything that they were doing. Sadly, Crookshanks's heart was just too weak and he slipped away a couple hours later. A small defect to the left side which was unnoticed by three vets and at least three techs was to blame. However, even if his condition was diagnosed before hand, I still would have opted for the neuter. Since he passed late Friday while we were visiting my husbands sister, we waited till Saturday morning to say goodbye to our Crookshanks. Dr. Marsh told us in detail everything that they did for our little man and I truly believe that everything possible was done for him. They even had him ready to hold and say goodbye to, again, I have to mention how awesome be caring the staff is. We opted to have Crookshanks cremated. This was done by another vet in the area, very nicely done. Even a little pressing of his big ol' man paws. We were told there was no charge for any of this when we went to pickup his ashes. I hate having to go through this. And hate that anyone ever does, but Dr. Marsh and staff are very caring and lovely people. I will recommend them to anyone I know. read more

Words can't even express what Dr. Smith and the staff at Richmond Road Veterinary Clinic (RRVC) mean to me. I recently moved into the area and had a horrible experience with another vet. My dog was in her final chapter with several severe issues. Dr. Smith & staff were so kind, informative, ethical, professional, non-judgmental and compassionate. Dr. Smith tweaked my dog's meds, called to check on her and quickly answered my emails. His care alleviated her suffering, gave me a few more weeks with her, and he was there for us when it was time to say goodbye which is the worst thing in life. I am so grateful that we found RRVC and Dr. Smith. read more

My family has been taking our pets to Richmond Road Veterinary Clinic for almost 20 years and we've had an excellent experience every visit. They're wonderful! So patient with our cats and dogs. They're even good at handling my anxious 100-lb dog. A few times we've had to euthanize old sick pets and the staff was very kind and sensitive. I've recommended this place to at least 5 of my friends who now bring their pets and love it too. They also have a convenient online pharmacy and pet portal. I recommend this place to caring pet owners who want *more* than just a rabies vaccine, owners who want to maximize their pet's quality of life. read more

My husband and I took our corgi in a few times over the past couple months. We love the staff, and Dr. Holaday was incredible each time. She is knowledgeable, kind, and has a wonderful bedside manner. She cares for both the pet and the owner, which made a huge difference for us. From our boy's initial diagnosis to his last days, Dr. Holaday was there every step of the way. She even called me to repeat everything she told my husband when I couldn't make it to visits. The clinic made a donation in his name to the Lexington Humane Society, which was so incredibly kind, and we are forever grateful. read more

Have taken my dog for a weekend vet trip since my vet was closed as well as for a grooming. Great customer service, very caring towards dogs and wonderful option to have for the weekend. Richmond Road Vet Clinic is a great facility. They have taken the best care of my dogs. I'll always take my fur babies to them. They are very caring not only to the animals but also the owners. My 17 year old Pomeranian, Cocoa, passed away at home. It happened at 5:24 am on November 14, 2016. When the clinic opened at 7:00 am, I was there with my Cocoa. They were very kind and supportive. They placed me in a room with my fur baby so I could spend private time with her. I could stay as long as I needed to say goodbye. The clinic took care of Cocoa with dignity. read more

Most of the reviews I've seen here have involved a pet dying, and I'm sorry for that loss, but I do not like the services I have received from this clinic. I have taken my dog to see Dr. Holiday twice, and I was out $500 for a simple UTI diagnosis that I knew my dog already had. This office is outrageously expensive, and I have had no problem paying my vet bill, but the first time I went, I did not expect to have to pay nearly $300 for a simple exam and vaccine checkup. We explained to her we did not have the money immediately, and so she automatically had us sign up for Care Credit (we had just moved to the area, and of course were denied because of it), so she compromised care for our dog so she could collect. The medicine we received the first time did not work, and so we had to go back, and before she even started to assess the patient, she wanted to talk to us about how to save money. If I can pay, what is it any of her business? I have never had a late bill in my life, it's just that she charges more than most for nonsense. I am now taking my dog to a better vet (cheaper too), and have decided that RRVC is not a place for someone who is on a budget. read more
