My husband and I used Thornton Tax Service for multiple years for business and personal taxes. We thought everything was fine until we went to buy a house. We found out that the business taxes were processed incorrectly reflecting 2016 as breaking even. We are now faced with having to obtain a non-fixed rate mortgage in order to buy our dream home. Funny thing is we tried to contact Jackie for months to file our 2017 taxes last year, but she never returned our calls or messages through mutual friends. That probably saved us because we would have been in worse shape having to explain to the bank for multiple years of how can the business reflect profit less and proving credit worthiness. Beware, just because you get a return or don't owe the IRS doesn't mean everything was done right. You might be better off doing your own taxes or hire a CPA. read more

Every year my husband and I try to stump Jackie with a complicated, messy, overall disastrous personal income tax situation, and every year she defeats us! And by defeats us, I mean she somehow makes it all tidy, follows the law, and gets us a refund in the span of about an hour. #win Seriously. She is a wizard with our hot mess of personal accounting (to include income from multiple states and foster care/adoption credits) and small business accounting. She comes to our house, fills it with laughter, and gets our taxes done while we cook our dinner. Sure, it's rude of us to be cooking while she works, but she doesn't even mind. I don't know what these people are talking about. Jackie herself does an amazing job with my taxes year after year. She gets me the maximum amount of refund possible and she is quick about it. This was the worst possible experience you could have. I didn't even meet the person. I purchased Amazon Local deal and contacted the office and made an appointment. Jackie who was supposed to come to my home to do the taxes DID NOT SHOW UP! Not only that, she didn't call to cancel that day or the next day or the day after that to apologize or reschedule. My email and phone call got ignored and never returned. I strongly suggest you NOT USE the service. read more

BEWARE AND STAY AWAY !! Well, writing a negative review is not the best thing but we think it is important to bring this to other's attention so that they can be careful. Jackie was sweet in our first meeting, smooth talker with family and stuff. So we thought let's do the 2015 Fed and state returns with her. Everything went ok, so we called her again for 2016. Again same sweet talks. But now, we got a letter from IRS with questions on 2015 Fed Return, so we called Jackie and sent emails for her response. She blamed that on tax software she used and that caused issues in submitting one of the schedules. So we said, fine please send the hard copy of attachment to IRS as they needed. From there it went down the hill, we were concerned coz this was the 1st time we had received a letter from IRS for taxes, so we were hoping for follow ups, but Jackie practically did NOTHING. We had to call IRS to ask for extension, and this kept going for 2 months and Jackie completely stopped responding to our emails/phones. We landed up consulting another accountant, and holy christ. We found more errors, simply put she completely messed up and made several mistakes in tax filing. We wish her all the best and hope that she wont repeat this to others. We thought of pursuing legal support but decided not to simply coz she had mentioned about her family, kids etc in the past so we decided to let go. read more

I met Jackie last year when she came to my house to prepare our 2016 taxes, she was very nice and personable. I used her again to prepare our 2017 taxes, again came to house, very nice. A week later my husband and I got a letter in the mail about a discrepancy on our 2016 taxes, we apparently owed over two-thousand dollars, Jackie didn't put my wages in for that year and since we paid her two hundred dollars we assumed that they were done correctly so we signed them. My husband contacted Jackie, sent the IRS letter as well, we waited, nothing from Jackie, he tried again, waited a few days, nothing. So this went on three emails, two phone calls, all ignored, she didn't even care enough to just call to give us advice on what to do next. Finally we contacted our former accountant, I took all the information, he looked through everything and yes, we did owe the money, but even more upsetting is that she made more mistakes on our return, she missed things that could have helped us out, I couldn't believe it, so I had him also look at 2017, again missed a few things in our favor but at this point I just wanted to make sure we didn't owe again. So I paid one hundred and twenty dollars to have my former accountant look this over, all because I didn't want to drive to his location anymore, I thought it was nice someone drives to you to have taxes done, well in all the time he did our taxes we never got a letter from the IRS. My husband and I talked about taking her to court but I'm going to let it go as a lesson learned. The worst part in all this is the utter lack of professionalism, she was referred to by a friend so one would think word of mouth is important to her? An apology and an attempt to help us out would have been suffice, but we got absolutely nothing. read more
