There's a fun mystery book selection where you don't know what you're getting with short descriptions as well. In addition to books, there's a wide selection of stickers, bookmarks, notebooks, and a small section of earrings, tote bags & socks. They also sell candles & mugs. There is a small upstairs section with more books. And there was a lot of signage for different events. They have going on including book clubs and bedazzling events. Overall, a great experience. After calling every Southern California location, Elam's was the only store with the inventory I needed, even though I'm based in downtown LA. Bella and the management team were incredible--they processed my order over the phone, accepted a shipping label from my corporate UPS account, and personally dropped the package off at UPS at the end of their shift. That's truly above‑and‑beyond service and incredibly rare these days. Elam's Hallmark La Mesa is officially my go‑to. Highly recommend.

I realized when I got home that is what they were saying. I am 81 years old and that is the only Hallmark store that I can walk to. I hope someone gets fired.

I forgot to write this review...until now…read more One stop to get Wifey an anniversary gift. The traditional list tells me to get tin, and the modern suggestion says an aluminum gift. Ok, I'm looking for something metallic. I needed something other than the usual picture frame or keychain. There are a couple of store associates, and the friendly gal helps me narrow down some items. She made sure to verify the engraving: layout, font, message, spelling, etc. She gave me an approximate time for me to return when the engraving would be ready. The engraving was not ready as promised so I had to come back another day. Disappointing, but not devastating since I had time before anniversary day. All in all it was ok, except for the one hiccup. Nice people, clean engraving, but the goods were not delivered on time.
